Buffalo Bachelor Parties

Ok, so we were talking about bachelor parties after hockey last night. One of my teammates is from the Buffalo area and let me in on how they do bachelor parties up there.

So what happens is the best man gets a bunch of like business cards printed up (or does it at work) with invites to the bachelor party. Free beer and food, $20. The groomsmen and the father sell these cards out to people. "Hey, my son is getting married. $20 for the bachelor party!" And if they can't make it you say "Hey, how about you chip in and donate to the party so we can do it up right?"

You buy a key and some food. You sell three tickets and you've paid for the keg. Five more tickets and the food is paid for. The rest goes to the groom.

Then you have the door prizes. It's up to the groomsmen to donate something for door prizes. Bottles of booze, whatever. My buddy was at one where someone donated a big beer fridge. So you charge $10 per ticket for the door prizes and this money goes to the groom. Then you hire someone to deal Blackjack too. Give them 10% of the profit, the rest goes toes to the groom.

Eventually you are looking at a good party where the groom walks away with like $500. Hell, up there these are so common randoms will show up at the bachelor party if they just went to college with one of the groomsmen just because they know it'll be a good party. So it's pretty common for the groom to walk away with $3000.

Dare we attempt this for one of the many bachelor parties coming up? Douglas is the obvious test case.

Which one of you fags is going to be the one who does the couples bridal shower or the stock the bar shower and all that gay shit?

joe on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 12:48 PM

All these plans that we have for getting money and throwing parties sound great on paper.

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 12:54 PM

but this is an established plan. we would just be expanding the idea into a new market. it'd be like opening a white castle in california. printing money.

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 1:00 PM

btw, it seems the streaming video is a little smoother when watching internet explorer than Firefox.

Robert Sally is the savior for Memphis. Holy shit.

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 1:01 PM

er, "Roburt Sallie"

His name is stupid

douglas on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 1:17 PM

no gay couples shit for me, the engagement party was it. i haven't begun thinking about the bachelor party yet, but that does sound pretty good

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 1:23 PM

the NCAA on demand half time show cracks me up. it's three random yos sitting in what looks like a conference room at a hotel with some cheap LCDs behind them

joe on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 1:30 PM

I have this awesome TV monitor on the wall next to my cubicle, but we are running an interoffice powerpoint presentation over it until 2:00 then turning off the TV

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 1:58 PM

man, memphis looks REALLY shitty.

Evans just needs to drive over and over.

joe on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:00 PM

didn't Tyreke Evans shoot a guy last year?

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:01 PM

This game is getting nutso

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:07 PM

holy shit. six point game.

joe on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:10 PM

I hate working. I want to watch basketball.

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:10 PM

Today, we are all matadors. Ole!

joe on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:11 PM

I'm assuming that is their mascot?

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:16 PM

uh huh.

btw, CS Northridge might be the most thug life team in the conference. Their best two players are like in jail.

joe on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:18 PM

AS tyreke evans should be.

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:19 PM

ugh, CS Northridge needs another miracle three. I think Memphis puts them away.

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:20 PM

i bet the georgetown and syracuse fans in sheridan hotel commercials have a man step on their trucks, if you catch my drift

joe on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:20 PM

I just ate an entire box of sour patch kids and I can't sit still. My hands are shaking.

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:22 PM

i bet the deaf kid on CS Northridge is plowing his translator

Bigworm on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:23 PM

I've got Memphis State in the Final 4, I hope those douchebags fucking lose.

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:24 PM

jesus, roburt sallie is a beast

joe on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:24 PM

Can I get more details on the translator?

douglas on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:31 PM

SEC, 1-0 so far, go tigers

Bigworm on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:33 PM

geux tigers!

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:34 PM

the purdue game has the audio from the Tampa Ray vs St. Louis Cardinals game. Jesus baseball is boring to listen to

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:37 PM

now the audio is just the game - no announcers. it is awesome.

joe on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:38 PM

What about this deaf kids translator?

joe on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:39 PM

You kind of made a statement and left it hanging. I don't think anybody else is watching the games. Is she boinkable or was that just a hey they are thugs I bet she gets run through by the basketball team?

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:42 PM

I don't think he's a thug. But she was ok, like 8 beers cute. But a few road trips, she always being around and next thing you know she's signing "you complete me" to him in an elevator.

joe on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:46 PM

Gotcha. A convenience plow.

Barry on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 3:18 PM

geaux tigahs! even if i didn't pickc you

Bigworm on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 3:29 PM

So now all the big local media is saying Billy G is gone.

douglas on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 3:37 PM

like?

Bigworm on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 3:39 PM

Bozo the clown just got on that bus today. From his blog today.

"Put me in the camp that now believes there will be a new coach at Kentucky next season. Just a hunch, but a hunch formed from talking to folks close to the heartbeat of the program."

Bigworm on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 3:44 PM

Dick Gabriel who is very close to the program says the same thing.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 4:29 PM

Let's go Northern Iowa!

douglas on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 4:30 PM

not happening, now we root for maryland and miss. state

Bigworm on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 4:31 PM

that is what I have in my bracket as well.

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 4:50 PM

Vasquez is a bit of a dick, but he's also the reason I got maryland in the sweet 16 in a few brackets and the elite 8 in another.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 4:56 PM

Well you certainly didn't put them in there for Gary Williams' coaching.

Brock on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 7:22 PM

I think Washington is a sleeper.

Brock on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 7:27 PM

There is no way Miss St or Maryland make it far. They made deep runs in the SEC and ACC tourneys, so they are out of gas.

I would apply the same rule to Syracuse, but those thugs looked pretty tough. Johnny Flynn is pretty impressive.

I just couldn't figure out where UCONN would choke. Its going to happen, but I couldn't find a team worthy of taking them down. I don't think Memphis will if they both get that far. I like Washington to do it, but even then, its tough. If UCLA, Kansas, or Florida State were in that bracket, I'd take them knocking off UCONN.

Will Huggins get out of the second round?!

Jerome on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 10:06 PM

I gotta hand it to CBS for the tourney coverage. They partnered Jim Nantz up with a dude that sounds like a black Phil Simms.

Jerome on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 10:15 PM

Nice -- Korean dude just threw a 62 mph curve ball.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 10:33 PM

Brock - can you consider a 4 seed a sleeper?

Bigworm on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 10:34 PM

Actually you probably can cause if they are much higher then they are cinderella.

Brock on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 10:49 PM

Come on Hilltoppers!

Brock on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 10:50 PM

That new Resident Evil game looks riDONCulous.

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 11:14 PM

my buddy johnny has it and says it's pretty damn awesome. i've never played those games myself

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 11:15 PM

i'm watching the ncaa on demand halftime show. kevin willard looks like he could use a drink

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 11:49 PM

they just accused mendez-valdez of being excellent at playing old man basketball

Phil on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 11:53 PM

watching legion fuck it up for Illinois inspired me to look up the quotes from his mom. "The Lord has shown me: They're going to the Final Four," she said, before adding a qualifier, "providing they play together."

Bitch may be crazy, but you can't say she was wrong...

Brock on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:01 AM

Illinois has looked like the underdog the whole game. Western acts like they belong here and own Bruce Weber.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:05 AM

refs seem to be kinda favoring WKU too. Maybe the NCAA is out to get Weber for being a cheating whore?

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:06 AM

Kerusch

Mendez-Valdez
Pettigrew

A basketball team, or brands of coffee?

Ok, I may be slightly drunk and 100% slap happy.

Brock on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:23 AM

I like the story about Pettigrew being KY Mr. Basketball and wanting to go to UK, but they didn't want him.

That's about 4th or 5th subtle dig on UK for not making the NCAA today. Of course all the Tubby talk.

I think tomorrow's games will be good. More 6 vs. 11

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:25 AM

Not looking good for WKU right now...

Brock on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:26 AM

Doesn't hurt the refs fuckin' them in the ass.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:27 AM

looked like the refs were pretty friendly in the beginning of the game, but now they certainly are date raping them in the butt.

Brock on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:28 AM

Balls deep!

Wrecking Crew on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:03 AM

Anyone taking tomorrow afternoon off to watch basketball? I'm probably going to start my vacation a little early at 1:30 or so if anyone is interested.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 7:56 AM

Brock - There were a lot of UK fans that wanted him at UK, me included. Apparently, we took a 6'4" guard named Alex Legion who was a 4-star recruit over the 2-star 6'4" post player. I would have loved to have had him on the team. If a player has heart and desire, that will overcompensate for lack of height, just ask Chuck Hayes.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 8:04 AM

I'm calling bull shit and saying that is the UK hind sight. Just like all UK fans loved Tubby too.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 8:29 AM

In todays C-J:

For their ferocity in the press, Williams dubbed guard Andre McGee "Pit Bull 1" and Knowles "Pit Bull 2." But he insisted yesterday that he is also a pit bull.

"I'm King Bull," Williams said. "And Jerry Smith is Cujo. And Edgar Sosa is Burrito.

Joe - if you want, I can dig out my pettigrew posts on KSR that I posted when he was a HS senior.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 8:44 AM

Actually I can't, they cut them off in mid 2008 and archive them.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 8:47 AM

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 9:16 PM

What's up bitches!

Douglas - word on the street be that Steffphon Pettigrew was offered by Billy G and is signing tomorrow!

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 8:49 AM

Phil on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 10:12 PM

I think his major problem is he's, what, 6'5", and can't handle the basketball or shoot from distance. He certainly doesn't fit into many offenses, that's for sure, which could explain why he hasn't been offered by anyone else. I could see him doing well playing for WKU or some other conference where you can play PF at that size.

I was hoping he'd come to Louisville and play football and walk on at basketball ala Joshua Tinch. But signing a local star is a definitely a good PR move for a new coach in Kentucky...

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 11:01 PM

He is a tweener no doubt. People say that he can't shoot the 3 or handle the rock, however, he has improved his ball handling this year, is quicker than the typical 3 and stronger than the 2 so he won't be out muscled that is for sure. He did beat Ty Proffit in a 3 point shootout at the Ohio vs. KY allstar game and scored some 26 points and grabbed close to 10 rebounds in that game that has many D1 level HS kids. I think Pettigrew shot something like 40% from 3 point land this year.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 8:50 AM

Now, I can honestly say I wasn't sold on Shelvin Mack (pg for Butler) but looks like we missed there too.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 8:53 AM

Well done wes. Once again the sci comes through.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 8:57 AM

Thank you. I am a recruiting junkie and besides, if you want to keep hanging out with HS chicks you have to keep up with HS recruiting.

douglas on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 10:15 AM

i did want pettigrew too out of HS, he wasn't as highly rated but a good KY boy on the squad never hurts. did you see where they just signed a juco transfer from KY too...

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 10:22 AM

Yeah I saw that, people aren't too high on him, however, he can do something many on this team can't do....shoot a high % from behind the arc.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 10:32 AM

didn't you also want Brandon Stockton?

douglas on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 10:36 AM

i honestly don't remember, too long ago.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 10:44 AM

Josh Carrier was the other good one I couldn't remember

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 10:58 AM

800 gallon party foul:

http://www.fox41.com/global/story.asp?s=10037445

douglas on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11:04 AM

i just cried a little

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11:22 AM

Josh Carrier will forever remain in the folk lore legend of summer champions of UK basketball. Every summer I listened to how Josh is just blowing up and how he is always the second guy selected when they play pick-up game yadda yadda yadda. Bottom line, Carrier and Stockton both were added to UKs rosters to keep local UK fans happy.

douglas on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11:22 AM

don't forget jared carter. every year i had to get my hopes up b/c of the massive strides he'd shown in the offseason

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11:29 AM

Carter had way too many surgeries and got behind and just never caught back up. He might have actually been decent if he wasn't injury plagued.

This is Jared's offer sheet straight off his Scout.com page. He had offers from UK, BC, Cinci, GT, IL, UNC, and WKU. I think Roy Williams stills laughs at us for taking this one off of his hands.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:26 PM

joe - we got a game plan for tonight?

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:29 PM

I have no gameplan yet. Beer at my house?

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:32 PM

beer at your house. if it weren't lent i'd even be up for offering to make tacos for the occasion.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:32 PM

i forgot all about my bodog account

shit, a whole day and a half lost that i could be making retarded parlays

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:34 PM

ok, i got a $10 parlay on Cornell (+13.5) and Louisville (-21.5). Just for you and Laura, Joe.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:34 PM

I just had fish at the cathedral. Proceeds go to feeding the homeless. It was awesome, old people served me good food at a cheap price and it was for a good cause. Grandma poured me a glass of water but in the end I ended up with only half a glass because of her shakes.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:35 PM

Those are both solid picks.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:37 PM

ok, looks like the early games are closed so I'll make my parlays for those games later. then onto the prop bets for the Louisville game

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:38 PM

How about Blake Griffin getting body slammed?

douglas on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:49 PM

he's an amateur, he could've sold that a lot better than he did, i don't even think he grabbed his back. john cena would've done it way better

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:49 PM

shit balls, i was gonna place a bet on ND State on Bodog but i didn't have time.

Brock on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:50 PM

I think Michelle's dad went to NDSU.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:54 PM

Fear my cleveland state (+8) and Siena (+2) Parlay too

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:56 PM

Marquette better hold on against Utah State.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:58 PM

gus johnson makes me so happy. Let's go ND State!

I had Marquette losing this game or the next. Just not the same without Dominic James

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:59 PM

Taking Louisville +28 (+225) and the over 76.5, both for $5. Weeeeeeeeeee.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:01 PM

I could see the winner of Mizzou - Cornell knocking off Marquette in the second round. I'd just like to see the Big East go 7-0 in the first round.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:01 PM

What is the +225?

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:04 PM

You wage $100, you win $225. So I waged $5 to win $11.25.

Another example is that I'm taking the over on the total three pointers (12.5) at -120. That means you need to wager $120 to win $100. So my five dollar bet will win me $4.17.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:05 PM

To go along with so and so's dad went there, both of Laura's parents are Mizzou alum and they open up against Laura's Big Red of Cornell. Too bad none of them care or are even aware of this or that would be a good family rivalry matchup.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:06 PM

Makes sense now. I'm not a gambler.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:15 PM

I'm getting better at it. I parlayed cleveland state (+275) and and Temple (+190) to win straight up.

Two team parlays generally have a 2.6 - 1 odds, for a $100 bet that would be $275 + $190 * 2.6 = $905.

I waged $5 to win like $45.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:21 PM

and just to make the afternoon interesting.
Temple straight up, Pitt ( by 20.5), West Virgina ( by 9), Cornell (by -13.5).

$5 to win $96.

douglas on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:23 PM

don't have a TV, but it looks like utah state / marquette and TN / ok st are pretty good games right now

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:24 PM

ND State just can't stop Aldridge. Game over.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:27 PM

hip check and a beauty courtesy of marquette

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:31 PM

daaaaaaaamn, ol' boy from ok state just TOOK it at UT

douglas on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:34 PM

SEC, 1-2

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:40 PM

UT sucks. Find a team that will play disciplined defense on them and you win. UK sucks and we beat UT by 20 each time.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:42 PM

let's go temple!

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:42 PM

Big East 4-0 with UL, PITT and West Virginia left to play.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:43 PM

So LSU is all the SEC has left?

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:47 PM

Temple is off to a slow start

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:48 PM

My temple bets were a huge mistake

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:51 PM

Are you addicted to sports betting now? Do you need help?

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:54 PM

i'm trying. i'm just bad at it. i mean, i didn't even remember to be a degenerate yesterday.

I have a feeling i'll probably bet on NFL games in the fall, superbowl and then march madness. Basically I'll bet on anything that I'm gonna watch and not have any vested interest in just for shit and giggles.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 3:07 PM

how did i forget about pendergraft? i'm a shitty gambler

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 3:08 PM

fucking asu looks like they are basically playing a box in one on christmas. gay. i hate you arizona state. jerks.

douglas on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 3:09 PM

lsu's the only SEC team left now

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 3:31 PM

I was watching the dayton WVU game on CBS for a few minutes and someone on Dayton the announcer kept calling the Jacksonville Jet. All i could think of is benny the jet rodriguez.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 3:40 PM

Dayton is going to take down WVU.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 3:44 PM

Chris Wright was a life long UK fan and he is the guy that Reggie Hanson told him and his parents that he wasn't UK material? I hate Reggie Hanson.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 3:48 PM

Let's go Cornell!!!

I bet Mark Coury is impacting that game.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 3:49 PM

Cornell brought their A game.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 3:51 PM

So he is basically the complete opposite of Will Scott. UK to Cornell vs. Cornell to UL

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 3:51 PM

Exactly!!!

I don't even know, did he have to sit out a year?

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 3:54 PM

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basket...l/players/62251

yep he sat out.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 3:56 PM

That's what's wrong with the UK program. UK use to have kids transfer and go to other high D1 athletic programs. Now they go to Cornell.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 3:59 PM

Cornell is in the tourney and UK isn't.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:00 PM

come ooooooooooooooon, christmas!

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:00 PM

although i guess with wvu playing so shitty it is a moot point

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:01 PM

Yeah, they beat other smart kids. If I am building a basketball team I want kids that major in basketball not in a science discipline for medical school.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:01 PM

although i guess with pitt playing so shitty it is a moot point

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:02 PM

WVU got beat by UK at a neutral site. Of course they are shitty. Actually the only chance WVU has is if Ruoff goes off, and if they are losing I am guessing he isn't.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:02 PM

Sorry Phil, I saw Pitt and thought WVU.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:03 PM

Butler and Ruoff are about all they got.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:03 PM

Would UK have won the ivy league this year?

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:06 PM

UK in basketball would be about as competitive as UofL in football in the Ivy League. So probably not.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:07 PM

sounds about right.

Phil on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:07 PM

three straight walks in this temple vs asu game. what a bunch of wankers

Brock on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:10 PM

Watch out for Ebanks from WVU. I see him take off in the 2nd half.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:10 PM

Ebanks is the pick to click in the second half. I miss WGN white sox baseball games. Lets go baseball season.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:12 PM

Not if Chris Wright is guarding him. Chris Wright is bigger, stronger, faster and can jump higher. He is a big version of T-Will.

Here is Chris Wright.

See and Rick Pitino knows what I'm talking about. He obviously went after guys majoring in basketball too!

Q. What is the most surprising thing you've learned over your time
about Coach Pitino?

TERRENCE WILLIAMS: I always knew that he had a will to win, but the
most surprising thing about that is whether it's me or Earl, whether
it's Chris Brickley, that you guys probably don't even know that don't
even play. He won't play until next year, he'll still probably be a
back up when he do play next year, he coaches everybody the same no
matter who they are on this team. And that surprised me because
whether someone, say, this person is a superstar, he doesn't treat
this person any different than he treat the person that would never
play in the game. So that surprises me a lot.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:17 PM

He got will scott from Cornell. But that was a gift to dad.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:17 PM

Chris Wright that plays for Dayton is 6'8" 230 pounds with about the same hops as LeBron. If you watch that video I posted, you can see him duck his head on some dunks in order to miss the rim.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:18 PM

A gift to dad? Like in the make-a-wish-foundation style?

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:18 PM

ahhh, i was confused. Youtube is blocked at work. I kept thinking the georgetown guard and thought you were crazy.

joe on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:19 PM

Exactly what it was. his dad is dying of cancer and his one wish was to have his son play under rick pitino. Hmmm, I think we are on to something.

Bigworm on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 4:24 PM

Looks like I am playing for UK next season if that really works.

joe on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 9:23 AM

7 black puppies, 5 male, 2 female. The first one out, bob barker, is a bad ass. He is the biggest of the litter and always manages to climb all over the others and push them out of his way to suck on the nipple. He already has his priorities in line...boobs.

Is anyone else thinking UCONN is head and shoulders above everybody else right now?

I posed the question to my father-in-law (who is a big UofL fan) as to who is the more unimpressive #1, Pitt or UofL? He thought it was a good question and thinks both are sucking ass in their play. He told me he thought he was going to have to turn off his phone yesterday because he thought UofL might actually lose that game.

douglas on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 10:36 AM

i think pitt's been more impressive than UK, their style isn't run and gun and blow away their opponents, they're very physical and beat you up and grind it out. UL has just not looked impressive. they don't seem to show up in the first half at all, that's been their track record all thru the big east and ncaa tournaments, and also in the regular season, and when they go up against tougher teams (think uconn for example), they won't let UL back in the game so easy. i never doubted yesterday they'd beat siena, no matter how many times they were setting siena up for the win, the better teams will have more composure and take advantage of those spots

douglas on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 10:38 AM

and i meant pitt's been more impressive than UL, but obviously both have been more impressive than UK

megan can do better at first, but once you get to know her and realize how needy, bitter, and insanely jealous she is, she loses any hotness she has

There is suppose to be a fight between him and Peter at the end of this season, but Peter lost all of his powers except his original power of ability mimicking. Turns out one of them told me back that she doesn't need to worry about this because she is the legal guardian of her 14 year old niece because her sister is pregnant and going to jail shortly for stealing thousands of dollars from her former place of employment and she found out her 14 year old neice she is responsible for has been stealing her credit card, cell phones and ipods from school and her 18 year old daughters car and driving up to Alpine ice rink to see her friends while she is grounded. so to sum it up: never reproduce or be a good parent or your kid will be 14 and stealing cars while listening to stolen ipods and talking on stolen cell phones while you are in jail for stealing money from your work while your brother or sister raises this demon child.

Did anybody watch the Creighton vs. UK game last night. First of all, I didn't know Creighton's gym has a capacity of 17,000 people. Last game Creighton played in the NIT, they had 9000 people there, last night the gym was packed. Even though UK sucks, they still draw in tons of people. So the atmosphere was set to pull off the non-upset win (Creighton was favored by 2) but UK manages to pull it out. In fact, UK's biggest lead of the game was 2 which the got with 10 seconds left to play.

joe on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 11:29 AM

There was a wrestler for Arizona State in the championships of NCAA wrestling with one leg. How do you feel if you lose to a one legged person? then again, how do you feel if you pin a one legged person? That is how I viewed the UK - Creighton game if I cared but since it was the NIT I didn't. Creighton is like a one legged person. You barely beat a one legged person.

Jerome on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 11:44 AM

A #1 seeded one legged person though.

douglas on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 12:03 PM

hey, UK's lost to teams with no legs, so i'm proud they beat a one legged team. actually creighton's not horrible, a lot of people thought they should've been in the NCAA tournament, i know seth davis was one whining about it. granted they would've been a lower seed, but still

Bigworm on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 12:04 PM

We beat a team on the road that shoots it well from deep. Trust me, I was excited.

joe on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 12:17 PM

How does the old joke go being a #1 seed in the NIT is like being a one seed in the special olympics but then you are obama and you find out that the person in the special olympics is actually really good so you have to apoligize and make an ass of yourself on late night TV which is kind of what the SEC did when they played on ESPN in the 9:00 time slot which is make an ass of themselves on late night TV.

Bigworm on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 12:20 PM

Yep and we get to go play Notre Dame at ND next so that is going to be awesome. I just hope we lose by less than 32 so we can say we had a better showing that UofL atleast.

joe on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 12:54 PM

While you hold on to that thunder of playing better then us at Notre Dame (We did beat ND at home) we will bask in our better showings head to head with UK and a better showing in the NCAA tournament

Brock on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:47 PM

Quote from Barry's link regarding CBS' switching feeds for the UofL game:

"If the local CBS station (WLKY) head was "fit to be tied," you can imagine the average Louisville fan. Actually, don't do that. That would get frightening. "

Bigworm on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:49 PM

Oh and I still say UofL doesn't win it all because they are lead by TWill, who really does have special skillz (yep with a "z").

And this is why TWill is my favorite player for Louisville. Enjoy.

Take one from Al McGuire on UK Basketball Tradition "they had it before you, they had it during you, and they'll have it when you're gone".

Brock on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:50 PM

Joe, how much coffee have you had today?

It may just be me, but 100-word posts without periods are difficult to read.

joe on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:51 PM

Everything is greener their because on UK message boards every recruit appears to be the savior and Pitino will be back in Lexington and you all are winning the National Championship next year. You chose to go to the NIT because it is allowing for better tournament experience for next year where if you went to the NCAA tourney it would have been one and done. Billy G is just looking at the big picture.

joe on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:53 PM

Wes you posted that T-Will thing on march 20th.

Brock on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:53 PM

The ultimate re-post.

Bigworm on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:55 PM

Thanks for the clarification.

I don't think Rick Pitino isn't coming back. He has his family and his mistress in a larger town now. Why would he come back where everything is scrutinized for? I bet him and Tommy Turtleneck gangbang PS and give each other a high five while doing it! Is that wrong, not if he wins games.

I am torn with bringing him back or not, because I don't know who UK would hire if they fire Billy G. And it isn't hard to realize that major help is on the way for next year. Of course, unless they shore up the PG position with Eric Bledsoe they are screwed as long as Porter keeps the ball in his hands.

joe on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:56 PM

I like how in a basketball debate you must reference the football game before "the great UK basketball tradition."

Bigworm on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:56 PM

That is how much I love it!!!

Just illustrating my point that UofL will not, and I repeat, will not win a national championship as long as their floor leader is a fucktard.

joe on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:58 PM

I've been calling him special for years. On the contrary he is so retarded not too much gets to him.

Bigworm on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:59 PM

Of course you do, I had to take that one from Louisville fans a couple years back. Precedents had been set.

Don't deny it though, you'd pull the same shit and what else can I fucking say? We are playing in the NIT, which is a step below the special olympics.

joe on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 3:00 PM

I'm just bored and wanted to talk shit.

joe on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 3:01 PM

Yes you can be excited that your team beat Creighton, but I still say that doesn't put you on the map for anything.

Bigworm on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 3:01 PM

Those dogs have you on edge with caffeine already?

Brock on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 3:01 PM

So is this like "inverse-proportional" sports year?

Cincy wins Big East and goes to Orange Bowl in football, but doesn't even make a post-season tourney in basketball.

So if Louisville wins the NCAA, does that spell 0-16 football season?

Bigworm on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 3:02 PM

By that definition, UK will be playing for the National Championship in football!!!

douglas on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 3:12 PM

douglas on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 3:13 PM

i was gonna respond to the llama thing but that seems so 20 minutes ago

Bigworm on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 3:23 PM

Joe - Of course beating Creighton doesn't put us on the map for anything, it's fucking Creighton. They are just another win towards being the first team to 2000 wins.

joe on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 3:28 PM

I'm running on Powerade and water. I don't drink coffee and I haven't had a coke since Saturday.

Bigworm on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 3:29 PM

Let me also say, if mass exodus occurs at UK they should just implode the program and start over.

joe on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 3:30 PM

Just go on probation again and start the unforgettables or whoever those douches were rebuilding period

Bigworm on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 3:31 PM

C'mon Joe, they might be hicks but they weren't up in the times to be douches.

good article about worldwide wes, any basketball fan should read:

5 - 7/1

how many big 12 teams will make the elite 8
0 - 7/2
1 - 20/23
2 - 5/4
3 - 15/2

Odds to win the MOP
E5 - 12/1

Bigworm on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 3:08 PM

Damn Phil that is tempting.

What are the minimum bets?

Phil on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 3:08 PM

$1

Bigworm on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 3:09 PM

Explain the UK straight up for +135 to me. I am not a gambling man.

Phil on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 3:12 PM

Ha. Ok, the +135 means that if you beat 100 you would win 135. Straight up just means you don't get the points (duh).

The way bodog works is you'd deposit the $100 in the account as like your little bank. Then you place the bet. If you win then you'll have $235 in your bank. If you lose then you have $0.

If you see a -135 that would mean you would have to bet $135 to win 100.

If anyone does want to become a degenerate gambler like me, you can use this link to sign up: http://www.bodoglife.com/servlets/W...ome?ID=P13457D4 and i get like a 10% bonus of whatever you put in your little bank the first time.

I have no idea how to get money out. I just like placing bets and I've done well enough that I really haven't had to refill my bank.

Bigworm on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 9:01 PM

Well the play that pretty much sums up UK season is when UK fights to get within 4 or 5 of Notre Dame with 2 to 3 minutes left and one of UK's players throws the ball to Stevenson in the corner who wasn't looking and turns it over to ND. So you have both players not paying fucking attention and turning the ball over. Carelessness.

Bigworm on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 10:32 PM

Phil - can you bet on Bodog if BCG is the coach of UK next year?

If so, can you also bet where BCG lands at?

Phil on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 11:25 PM

ha, can't bet on that. you could bet on american idol though. closed now :(

Odds to win American Idol Season 8
Adam Lambert 2/1
Danny Gokey 19/10
Lil Rounds 11/2
Allison Iraheta 8/1
Scott MacIntyre 25/1
Matt Giraud 8/1
Anoop Desai 15/1
Megan Corkrey 35/1
Kris Allen 20/1
Michael Sarver 65/1

douglas on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 8:28 AM

so apparently porter is married, and apparently he might not come back next year:

Guard Michael Porter's wife is expecting a baby in the summer, the player told reporters.

It will be a girl. Porter and his wife have picked out a name, but he said they wanted to tell their parents first.

The subject came up when Porter talked about returning for next season.

"I want to play," he said. "I have to sit down and think. A lot of things are happening."

joe on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 8:51 AM

joe on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 8:58 AM

T-Will Talk

Terrence Williams can do more than fill a stat sheet. He can fill a quote sheet. Some of his more memorable pronouncements over the years:

On coach Rick Pitino's powers of persuasion: "He's the type of man where, if a dog couldn't talk -- which a dog can't talk -- he would make a dog think it can talk. That dog would keep barking for a long time thinking it was talking."

Explaining how he followed an 0-for-4 first half with an 8-for-16 second half against Massachusetts as a freshman: "Before, I was thinking about the scouting report and how they are a great shot-blocking team, and I was just trying to get the ball up there. But then I was like, 'Terrence,' -- I call myself Terrence; I don't call myself T-Will -- I was like, 'Terrence, you jump too high to be nervous about somebody else.' "

Finding the silver lining in a groin strain: "It's a good thing, because I really like massages and now I'm getting massages all the time."

Celebrating the return of Juan Palacios and David Padgett from injuries last season: "You go out into a game in which you know you've got Tello and David playing, your swagger's a lot different. You walk different, you talk different, you talk to a girl different. … You know they're going to back you up. They're going to say, 'Yeah, he's a great guy.' "

Explaining where the Cardinals would be if Padgett hadn't come back from a broken kneecap: "We'd be at Madison Square Garden in the NIT. Coach would be telling us, 'Don't just be happy to get to the big city. We've got to win this.' "

Explaining why he didn't declare for the NBA draft after his junior season: "There are too many sharks in the water in this year's draft. Next year there's a lot of fish and seaweed. Hopefully, I can be one of those sharks next year."

douglas on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 9:03 AM

I will say UL games will be a lot less interesting next year w/o him, someone's gonna' have to step up and fill the big lips / tattoos / special needs player void. not an easy replacement

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 9:15 AM

T-Will is by far and away my favorite Louisville basketball player. He is like catching lightening in a bottle when it comes to comedy gold.

Quotes 1 and 2 are my favorites.

Douglas - I had hope, and then they stole it from me.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 9:25 AM

Douglas - I have heard that there is strong possibilities that Porter and Harris might not return.

douglas on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 9:48 AM

i've been looking around some blogs and the papers this morning, everyone is basically saying he's already gone, even though it seems most of the fans want him to return. one blog said he's already been fired

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 9:50 AM

I am sure we are reading the same stuff. Dr. Todd said he would not comment till Friday at the earliest.

The best rumor I have heard for it's pure ignorance is the FedEX guy told a UK fan it was almost a done deal with The Squid. I just laugh, when did FedEx guys start handling The Squids negotiations?

douglas on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 9:54 AM

somebody said his wife's a real estate agent in lex and calipari's wife has been checking out properties since sunday, i'm still waiting to get the flight # for a charter plane from memphis

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 9:56 AM

Well I know she is a waitress for sure, maybe she is a realtor that moonlights as a waitress???

joe on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:11 AM

If calipari leaves memphis, that program will crumble and UK will end up on probation in a couple years.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:16 AM

Probably so.

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:47 AM

douglas on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11:26 AM

oh i know it is, no one takes those seriously, that's why i was saying i was waiting for the flight # rumor next

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 12:17 PM

deadspin pointed this part of the ESPN article about billy g

Gillispie said: "There's only one judgment I'll ever be concerned about, and I hope I pass that judgment. That's the only one I'll ever be concerned about, and I'm really proud that that's the only judgment that will ever have a real effect on me, and I hope I pass that one with flying colors."

Gillispie declined to answer when asked whose judgment he was referring to, saying it was obvious, apparently referring to Kentucky athletic director Mitch Barnhart.

Um, yeah. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he wasn't referring to Barnhart. It's gotta be "drunk skanks at lexington bars"

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 1:14 PM

Yes, checking out properties is the running joke.

I remember a couple years back, when I went to the UK vs. UGA game when Woodson was a freshman, the usher came up to us and was very friendly and just shooting the shit. Topic turns to UK football and bringing in a bib coach which prompted him to say being completely serious and adamant that Steve Spurrier is out there partying in the green lot.

Needless to say, we laughed the whole way home.

joe on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 1:43 PM

the CJ has an article on the UL QB race. Depressing. Who will Be UK's QB this year, that true freshman coming in, the sucky guy who was SEC offensive player of the week or the WR/QB athlete who was good but couldn't get the job done...I can't remember their names?

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 1:48 PM

I think you will see Hartline starting unless Morgan Newton is just all that. Newtown will probably get a couple reps and increase them to where he is starting by season end. If both are unable to move the offense, then Randall Cobb might see some time back there.

douglas on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 1:48 PM

it'll be hartlage (the sucky guy) or randall cobb (the athlete). both were extremely young last year, they both are expected to be much improved. i think the preference is to have hartlage be the QB so they can use cobb at WR

Brock on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 2:01 PM

Wes, is there are Tom Gray that prowls the UK message boards?

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 2:27 PM

Most use aliases or screen names so there could be.

joe on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 4:13 PM

Would Jay Wright leave Villanova to go to UK?

douglas on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 4:19 PM

UK wouldn't go after him I don't think, never heard him mentioned.

in response to an earlier post, here's the official flight from gainesville rumor:
http://www.gainesville.com/article/...y-D-on-the-move-

douglas on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 4:20 PM

i knew it was coming

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 4:25 PM

Douglas - Like I said earlier, I'd double down on him going to a school in the Carolinas, more specifically NC State. Looks like Lowe is going to be out of there. Of course, there is one thing that could throw a wrench in all of this and that is Jeff Capel might be wanting out of Oklahoma.

douglas on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 4:30 PM

i'm hearing gillispie to NC state as well, maybe texas tech if knight's outta there. calipari seems to be the hot choice right now though, not donovan, not capel, and definitely not ford.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 4:34 PM

The problem with Ford is he has pissed off a lot of people. In fact, the last time the job was open he tried to use boosters to get himself the job at UK, which didn't happen. Due to that he has pissed off a lot of people.

Ricky P is advocating for Ford, and I heard Ricky P consulted with Donovan and he told him to stay at UF.

I was shocked to hear BCG and NC State, I figured he'd go back to Texas. Maybe not Texas Tech as they and A&M are rivals but I figured he could get a job somewhere down there.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 4:35 PM

Jay Wright has been mentioned before, but I think that was just smoke and mirrors last year with Rick Barnes and Tom Crean.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 4:48 PM

So if Billy D comes to UK, I guess I'll have to change from the Star Wars theme of the empire strikes back to the Munsters.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 4:58 PM

Douglas - Also heard they were bringing Dan Issel back as a Basketball Czar of some sort.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 9:28 PM

Douglas - Newest rumor going around is that Todd will have a press conference tomorrow and announce his full support of Mitch and Billy G and he will be retained.

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 9:31 PM

Let's go overtime! I need Pitt by 8!

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 9:43 PM

And now WHAS 11 just broke that BCG is out. The reporter said their sources are close to the basketball program and it's a done deal. LOL

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 9:58 PM

....and UK's new coach will be Billy Donovan.

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:18 PM

the whas thing is curious. how did they of all stations break this before anyone else in lexington or gainsville?

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:26 PM

btw, the memphis v. mizzou game is exhausting.

and i just realized how whas could get the report. they just had to send their sports girl down to find a drunken billy g and flirt with him until he blabbed in hopes of getting a pity going away handjob

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:34 PM

She cited sources close to the program.

The funny thing is my source told me this would happen about 3-4 weeks ago and I laughed it off. Looks like he was right.

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:36 PM

looks like it is already being spun that it was due to the drinking and acting like a general cock sucker. everyone knew that two years ago when they fucking hired him, everyone knew about the driver, the waittresses, the drunken booster incidents, etc.

why not just sack up and say it's about winning and losing.

just a "we are kentucky basketball, motherfuckas. NIT is for bitches' and we ain't no bitch" would do instead of this sudden moral grandstanding.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:36 PM

Douglas - Maybe Michael Porter's wife really is a realtor? LOL

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:39 PM

Phil - Actually it's not about the W/L record, it is about the off court incidents. In fact, I will go as far to say that MB was on the fence and he was pushed over by Lee Todd, who doesn't like BCG at all. He has rubbed many people the wrong way and he just lost his dream job because of it.

Now the real thing that will make your head scratch is that Billy Donovan said he wasn't offered the job the last time around, and if he was he would have taken it. I don't buy that and neither does my source, but that is what BD claims.

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:39 PM

i gotta wonder about the logic of taking a coach with the hottest recruiting bed in the country that still lost to fucking PSU in the NIT as some sort of savior. I mean, you are just getting another BCG but with better hair.

All of Donavans championships game with teams loaded down by future NBA players. He did less with more than Tubby did...

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:42 PM

it simply can't be about the off the court shit. seconds after he was announced people were ragging on Billy G for being an alchoholic and a womanizer. UK knew who they were hiring and to say otherwise would imply that the athletic department and university did ZERO research in their hiring.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:42 PM

Well except he's got two national championships, that one is kind of the trump card.

Ten Loss Tubby (Ten Seed Tubby) is my guy. He is the best x's and o's coach in college basketball, bar none.

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:42 PM

the gods like mizzou tonight...

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:44 PM

should be an interesting few days to say the least. after what donavan did last time and with the orlando incident no one should believe that guy until he's coaching a game.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:44 PM

Trust me Phil, when BCG was hired many heads turned. Personally, I don't really care. They guys isn't raping women. I give the man a high-five for tearing into some college cheerleaders, if I was him I'd do the same thing. That is also why MB's job is on the line now, he did a single search person committee....and that was him.

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:47 PM

heads may have turned, but to say he was fired because of his actions is silly. he's getting fired for not winning, plain and simple

screencap of whas tonight

pat forde usually gets these scoops so once i see it from him i'll believe that. cbs is pretty quiet during their halftime sucks.

but we can all agree on this - fuck duke

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:56 PM

Phil - I think the W/L is the icing on the cake.....but this was in the works for a while now.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 10:59 PM

And Duke has their personal ref Karl fucking Hess calling the game. Nice.

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11:01 PM

my favorite post on catspause right now is the one saying billy g is taking the fall for tubby's failings followed by alternating posts of people saying "get over it" and "too true"

lots of posts about calipari. not that many about mike anderson...

Bigworm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11:14 PM

I don't think he will be fired, I think BCG says fuck you and walks away.

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11:26 PM

Phil on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11:51 PM

damn. i generally he repeats one of the bonus question. the other one was easy - it was jack nichelson movies. maybe because idiot savant was there you guys got hosed.

fucking memphis. you die. you die and you go to hell.

Brent on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11:59 PM

Idiot savants weren't there but we missed a fuck of a lot of questions and still managed to hold first place at one point. We were tied for second at the final question and the team that was tied went balls to the wall for the final question, we bet 0

Phil on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 12:03 AM

what was the final question?

for christ sake mizzou. FINISH THEM

Bigworm on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 12:04 AM

Phil - You're not worried about playing Memphis State are you? I'd rather play them than Mizzou.

UK is fucked either way

douglas on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 9:27 AM

Here's the most comprehensive post i've seen regarding the issue about BG and donovan:
http://www.truebluekentucky.com/ind...&nth=333835

it seems the combination of donovan getting zilch support in florida after winning two titles, plus UK having a loaded squad next year as opposed to the depleted squad he would have inherited last year are putting the nails in the coffin for him at FL. Plus the whole anthony grant from VCU is a big issue, apparently bama wants him, but he's holding out until he hears what donovan's doing, cuz he wants florida more if billy d leaves

joe on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 9:29 AM

I'm leaning towards Digger Phelps going to UK

douglas on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 9:36 AM

and stringer bell on the office is just weird. the man was running a huge drug operation in the ghetto while living in a high rise condo, and now he's pushing paper, doesn't make sense. he needs to shoot a mother fucka quick and get his street cred back

joe on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 10:44 AM

So a girl at work was telling a panama city spring break story about how crazy it was there. She told a story about being stuck in traffic and some dude walking down the street just opened the car door and sat down in their car and they told him get out. i had to tell them that we have a much better story then that taking place on Baxter Avenue and it ended with me pushing a girl out of the backseat of a car on the sidewalk in front of Molly Malone's.

joe on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 10:56 AM

I also like the random story of Jay and I downtown running into the girl yelling help because when she picked her car up from valet parking and drove a couple blocks away she failed to notice the drunk guy passed out randomly in her back seat until he spewed all over her kids baby seat.

douglas on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 10:59 AM

that's not a crazy story by any means, i used to do that when i was younger after thunder over louisville when traffic was deadlocked sober

Douglas - I don't know about you but I am pretty pissed about this. I for one am not a fan of Billy D. I am a fan of BCG. BCG is stubborn as shit and pisses me off sometimes due to that but I think he is a damn fine basketball coach. He is getting the shaft and doesn't deserve it.

Bigworm on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 12:10 PM

I wish they'd come out and say he is being retained and Billy D can go back home, but it doesn't look that way.

douglas on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 1:18 PM

the big meeting is set for this afternoon between BG, todd, and barnhart. love to be a fly on the wall...

as for donovan, i'm more prone to believe he'd take the job now than two years ago fresh off two titles in a row. they still can't sell out their puny arena and get no fan support, plus his kids are older now. i think gillispie's getting a raw deal as well, but i'm firmly entrenched in the camp that there's some shit going on behind the scenes we'll never know about. most UK fans don't want him gone, i think most of this has been fueled by media speculation, and barnhart and todd's comments aren't helping any. his W-L record and "performance" based on the talent he's got doesn't justify his firing after two years, period. if it happened again next year, then yes, i'll be the one to slam the door on his ass.

the national media all over this shit today, espn's killing UK saying no coach will want that job now, and for UK to know they'd have to endure this kind of national ripping again only leads me to believe there's shit going on we don't know and/or they already have a backup plan in place. if barnhart gets rid of BG and flubs the search for a coach twice in two years, he's gone, and he's got to know that

Bigworm on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 3:15 PM

Interesting Article.

" The University of Kentucky announced Friday that Billy Gillispie is out as men's basketball coach.

The school scheduled a news conference for 4:30 p.m. to discuss the coaching change. They are not planning immediately to announce the hiring of a new coach

The widely anticipated move ended a two-season tenure marked by surprising losses and an over-riding perception that Gillispie was not the “right fit” for UK.

The parting of ways came after Gillispie met with UK President Lee Todd and Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart. After the meeting, the players were told.

Gillispie had a record of 40-27, a winning percentage of .597. That was the lowest winning percentage for a UK basketball coach since Basil Hayden had a 3-13 record in 1926-27.

The father of UK’s leading scorer, Jodie Meeks, welcomed the news.

“It clearly didn’t look like it was working,” Orestes Meeks said.

The elder Meeks suggested that Gillispie made it difficult for UK to maximize its potential.

“You don’t want to throw gasoline on the flames, but, clearly, a lot of things happened behind the scenes that made it difficult for the kids to play basketball and focus on winning,” the elder Meeks said.

Gillispie’s two seasons brought questions about a rash of injuries, the wearing effect of practices the day of games and the departure of several players. Perhaps most telling was the transfer of Derrick Jasper, whose ball-handling and decision-making could have made a big difference in this just-completed 22-14 season.

Jasper had microfracture knee surgery in the June before Gillispie’s first season. Then Jasper returned by late December, wearing a heavy knee brace. After that season, Jasper transferred to UNLV, where he spent the entire season rehabilitating the knee. Even late this season, Jasper was still not able to practice with the UNLV team.

Ironically, Orestes Meeks lamented the lack of a relationship with Gillispie. The former UK coach had often spoke of the importance of building relationships.

But Gillispie did not call the elder Meeks when his son set a UK record with 54 points against Tennessee.

“I got calls from every coach he ever had: baseball, basketball, all of them,” the elder Meeks said. “Except his current coach. His current coach never called. That said a lot to me.”

Earlier this year, Barnhart spoke of Gillispie needing to make “adjustments.” But during the Southeastern Conference Tournament, Gillispie would not acknowledge that the UK job contained a public component.

In his second season, Gillispie did make more of an effort to embrace the public. After snubbing the Lexington Rotary Club in 2007, thus ending a tradition of UK coaches speaking to the club that dated back to at least the 1950s, Gillispie appeared before this season.

But it was too little, too late to save his job.

“When you start placing blame, tell them that when a ship misses the harbor, do they blame the harbor?” Orestes Meeks said. “I don’t think it’s anybody’s fault but his own.” "

Bigworm on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 3:28 PM

Rumors coming in that Anthony Grant is going to take the HC job at Alabama. If that is true, that would indicate BD is not leaving UF, unless they are going for a higher profile coach???

Wes what are you talking about, Billy D ass clown and in the same breath you think Billy G is a better coach? Donovan has won 2 national championships, Gillespie hasn't done shit.

joe on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 4:19 PM

The highlight of Billy G's career is beating UL on Edgar Sosa missed free throws on St. Patty's day 2 years ago in the NCAA tournament. UK fans still remember what the NCAA tournament is don't you?

Bigworm on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 4:21 PM

Brent - I think Billy GILLISPIE is a better x's and o's coach, but he just wants to be a basketball coach. I'd like to see what he could do if he stayed longer, but the reality of the situation is Meeks and maybe Patterson were both leaving if he was retained. I know what was said in public and what is thought in private are not the same.

Donovan, like his mentor, is a better recruiter and better manager of the overall program.

I still want John Calipari, but he ain't walking through that door.

Larry Vaught's article From Jodie Meeks Dad.

“I think Jodie is a neat kid. All he wants to do is win. I think he tried as hard as he could to put Kentucky in position to win,” Orestes Meeks said. “But I sometimes wondered about some things they were trying to do as a team.

“They got worse as the season progressed. I don’t know why that was. To me, that is a leadership issue. There is a lot of behind the scenes stuff that went on. Some of that stuff was self inflicted (by Gillispie). I couldn’t understand a lot of the stuff they tried to do.”

After UK’s loss at Florida, a Florida player said Jodie Meeks told him he was told by Gillispie to quit shooting. Gillispie denied that later as did Jodie Meeks. However, Orestes Meeks said it happened in other games this year as well.

“He was teling him that all year about shooting,” Orestes Meeks said. “When he hit 7 3’s against Tennessee State in the first half and he was 8-for-11 from the field and he told him, ‘Why do you have 11 shots. You are shooting too much.’

“I think Coach had a problem with Jodie doing as well as he did. We do not have a relationship. I do not talk to him. When the school started the (national player of the year) promotion for Jodie (in February), he benched him (at South Carolina). He took him out and told him not to shoot even though he just had made a shot. He just told him to sit down. How does that make sense?”

the latest on the rumors:
Stephen A. Smith was on Outside the Lines on ESPN this morning, and he said that he believed it was likely that Calipari will be the next coach of UK. Calipari recruiting at UK would be a scary proposition for the rest of the country (and scary for some UK people as well). What he has done at Memphis is phenomenal, and this hire would really tick off UofL fans, which is always a plus. I think this would be a homerun.

**UPDATE**Larry Vaught is reporting that an in-person meeting with John Calipari is occuring or has already occured today. Apparently the decision has been put to Calipari the decision-making process is not anticipated to be a long one.

joe on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 9:28 AM

Just got the below in an email:

On Wednesday, April 1, 2009, PBS will air nationally a Sesame Street television special called, Coming Home: Military Families Cope With Change featuring John Mayer, Queen Latifah, and the Sesame Street gang. The special tells stories of service members who return home with injuries, visible and invisible and explores the heroic struggles their families face in discovering a "new normal." Attached is a flyer that provides additional information on the television special.

With help from Elmo and Rosita, “Coming Home” gives voice to young children as they play a central role in their families’ adjustment process. The special encourages them to ask questions, talk about how they feel, and be what they are—kids. Queen Latifah hosts, meeting real families dealing with combat-related injuries including the loss of a leg, traumatic brain injury, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

joe on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 9:30 AM

http://www.commercialappeal.com/new...ints-departure/

not sure how excited i'd be about cal. actually if he keeps his nose clean i'd be super fucking excited, but i'm definitely not holding out hope for him to come

Bigworm on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 11:24 AM

Douglas - this is why you get excited for Cal. I am holding reservation because I don't want to get my hopes up. The Squid and Izzo are my top two choices, now that Billy D balked again. I wasn't sold on Bill D, but I figured he'd be successful at UK.

Reason #1 to get excited with Cal

John Wall

Reason #2 to get excited with Cal

Demarcus Cousins

Reason #3
Xaiver Henry

Bigworm on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 11:26 AM

#2 and #3 are Mephis commits that have not signed their LOIs. Cal supposedly leads for John Wall.

You bring in these three with Meeks and Patterson and Orton if he sticks around and wow. That is a team.

douglas on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 11:31 AM

oh trust me, i know who those guys are, and if, and it's a big if, but if he comes and brings those three with them (none have signed their LOI yet) then i will be making sarah wear a john calipari mask to bed every night

Jerome on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 11:33 AM

make sure she wears it on the back of her head ...

Phil on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 11:34 AM

best line i read about cal to UK:
"Winning a national championship (which Calipari has yet to do, by the way) is no job security when you're coaching in Lexington. And if all those boosters who just didn't get Billy Gillispie's annoying shtick think John is going to be their new golfing buddy, they got another thing coming."

douglas on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 11:34 AM

joe on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 12:21 PM

Izzo runs a similar slow offense that Tubby did so I could see dumb ass UK fans running him out of town as well, except he is white.

Brent on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 12:31 PM

Not if he keeps kicking Louisville's ass every year.

joe on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 12:48 PM

There are so many things wrong with that statement it doesn't even deserve a response.

douglas on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 1:37 PM

izzo would be welcome with open arms. four final fours in 8 years, he'd be just fine. it won't be him though, he's a michigan guy, doubt he'd leave. as for calipari, i was just working out at lunch, all the tv's generally stay on espn, and they were all over this calipari to UK story, in the 45 minutes i was working out, i saw probably 3 or 4 different segments on it. it's like there's no other college basketball news out there, and that folks, is what his massive ego can't get at memphis. not saying it's definite, i'm just saying the drumbeat for it keeps getting louder

joe on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 1:45 PM

Welcomed, yes, but for how long? UK fans welcomed Gillespie at first. If I am not mistaken UK fans want the high scoring fast paced game. I don't see the adjustment being made to the slow down half court we will win my way which may be with 30 points total. First thing that comes to mind is Rajon Rondo and Tubby. Calipari would be good, but there is a lot of ego there.

douglas on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 1:47 PM

Memphis AD just gave UK permission to talk to Calipari, there's a meeting today. apparently he's also quoted as saying he doesn't think he's going to be the memphis coach by the end of the day:

memphis has contacted mike anderson from mizzou already, a news station in memphis has reported his resignation now as well, i'm not saying done deal cuz that's a curse to say that, but it's getting pretty fucking close

By LARRY VAUGHT
larry@amnews.com
Sources have confirmed that the University of Kentucky has reached a deal with John Calipari to be the Wildcats’ new basketball coach.
No official announcement is scheduled today according to UK officials , but sources indicated Calipari will sign a $4 million per year contract anywhere in length from seven to 10 years.
“It looks like eight years is going to be the magic number,” said the source.
Kentucky recruit Daniel Orton of Oklahoma has not heard from anyone at UK today about who will replace Billy Gillispie, who was fired Friday. However, his father, Larry, understands that Calipari is the likely choice.
“Right now Daniel is still going to Kentucky until we get a chance to talk to Calipari,” Larry Orton said based on the assumption that Calipari will be UK’s next coach.
Another source in Memphis indicated that Calipari had resigned and The Commercial Appeal, a Memphis newspaper, said Memphis guard C.J. Henry referred to Kentucky as the Notre Dame of basketball when he met with the team this morning.
Kentucky acknowledged this afternoon that it had been given permission to talk to Calipari, who took Memphis to the Final Four last year and lost to Kansas in the title game.
Carol Dennis, the mother of Memphis recruit Nolan Dennis, told The Commercial Appeal that the letter-of-intent her son signed last fall contained an addendum that would allow him to follow Calipari to another school.
Two other highly-touted Memphis recruits, guard John Wall and center DeMarcus Cousins — have not yet signed with the Tigers and could also follow Calipari to Kentucky.
“Imagine the bigs you could have with Patrick Patterson, Daniel, Matt Pilgrim and Perry Stevenson along with Cousins coming in. What an offense that would be,” Larry Orton said. “Then you would have Jodie Meeks and maybe throw in John Wall and Nolan Dennis, who is as good as Wall. You are talking about automatic Final Four.”

WMC-TV in Memphis is reporting that Memphis coach John Calipari will accept an offer from Kentucky to become the men's basketball coach for the Wildcats barring any breakdown in negotiations, and will take his coaching staff with him and a number of players.

WMC broke into regular programming with a report from their sports director, Jarvis Greer, who said he has learned from a reliable source that Calipari will be the next coach at UK and that two Memphis players, Wesley Witherspoon and Roburt Sallie, will transfer to Kentucky.

LEX 18 will have more on this developing story today beginning at 5.

random dude is now reporting that espn is saying that cal is getting 37 million of 8 years (duh), but demarcus cousins is saying that cal is staying at memphis as of a few minutes ago.

Bigworm on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 10:10 AM

I've decided there is no fucking way John Calipari comes to UK. Way to much of his life will be exposed and I bet Memphis or the boosters match the UK offer.

The only way he does, is if he wants to win big and be remembered as one of the best college coaches in history.

douglas on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 10:54 AM

the latest:

- Matt spoke with someone close to the negotiations and he said that UK expects to receive an answer from Calipari at some point today. Whether he accepts or declines, it should be resolved today.

- Along that note, the same person said that almost all of the details were finalized late Monday night. One of the major sticking points was the status of the outstanding scholarship offers for the players in the 2010 class and beyond. According to this source, Calipari said that “only one is anywhere close to a UK-level player”.

- Matt spoke to someone very close to Calipari who said a couple of interesting things:

1. There will be no players leaving Memphis to follow him to UK. There was some speculation of Wesley Witherspoon, Robert Sallie and others following their coach, but that will not happen.

2. This person also says that Calipari is very excited about the current UK roster. This person said that “Patterson, Meeks, Miller, Stevenson, Harris, Galloway, Orton and Hood”, along with 1 or 2 recruits he would bring with him, is a team that Calipari says could potentially be special.

Bigworm on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 11:13 AM

Here is an online chat from Memphis Roar.

joe on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 12:48 PM

I've grown to like concerts in smaller venues. Metallica at Rupp was an awesome concert though. Godsmack has put on an awesome show every time I've seen them with Louisville Gardens being a great venue. The Godsmack, Staind and Cold concert kicked ass, Godsmack with Breaking Benjamin was good too. Godsmack at the Palace was ruined because the Palace is a shitty venue. Avenged Sevenfold at the Gardens was good except the people picking fights. Sevendust at Coyotes was insane since that was a tiny venue but Jay puked.

Have you heard about the KFC pothole program? KFC is offering to fill potholes in several major cities to save the state money, with the catch being that over every filled pothole, the words “Re-Freshed by KFC” will be painted on the road.

Oh, and the construction workers doing the pothole filling? They’ll all be dressed like Col. Sanders while they work. Word is bond.

"There is also a pulled hamstring from Allen Cutler that will limit him. I thought I might see him here today but he obviously is getting treatment."
Brooks wasn't done.
"Sometimes with our shier players we give media training. For those of you in the media who need, it we will you allow to run with us in conditioning so you can keep up with your interviews."

Brooks was rolling and laughing.

Dirk Nowitzki's excited about Calipari:

Nobody was more excited that John Calipari signed on to be the University of Kentucky basketball coach than Mavericks' basketball-communications manager Scott Tomlin.

A proud Wildcat alum from 2002, Tomlin was bouncing off the walls after news leaked out of Calipari's signing.

Actually, there may have been one Maverick who was more excited: Dirk Nowitzki.

"We're back baby,'' Nowitzki yelled in the locker room before the game against Minnesota. "Kentucky is back on the map.''

Kentucky, of course, was where Nowitzki was going to attend college had he not bypassed college to go straight from Germany to the NBA.

Of course, the best line came from a Maverick who shall remain unnamed, who said: "Dirk was only at Kentucky long enough to pick up the envelope with the payment inside.''

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 11:32 AM

Does it matter that IU ignored the issues with Sampson?

Barry on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 11:34 AM

everybody cheats...not everyone gets caught. the streets are watching uk and coach cal. hopefully it never happens and the uk-uofl rivalry again becomes a game that everyone across the country watches like they do duke-unc. potentially some fun times in the bluegrass state. shame i won't be there.

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 11:34 AM

the issues with sampson were waaaay different, they were still fresh and in the process of being resolved with oklahoma when they hired him. plus they were recruiting violations, the only hit on cal's ncaa resume is the thing with camby, and the ncaa ruled he had no part in it and was never punished. plus not a single recruiting violation. does he use his connections, hell yes, they all do. i saw the cars the UK players were driving in lex when tubby was there for christ sake, and he's the gold standard for compliance

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 11:35 AM

the rivalry will without a doubt be the lead story nationally again, plus with the SEC's new contract w/ ESPN, hence UK, it'll get a lot more play than previous years

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 11:37 AM

whas radio keeps playing the godfather music over cal quotes from the presser

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 11:39 AM

I wish IU wouldn't have even self reported it and the intern leaked it to the NCAA. That way they would have got the "lack of institutional control" charge and the kiss of death. I wish UofL would do the same thing. ;)

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 11:42 AM

i actually like indiana so much more since knight's gone. i always actually liked mike davis, but i do want them to get back to where they were

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 11:43 AM

I keed I keed!!! I have a lot of hoosier friends, and I must say I can't really blame them for anything. They just don't know any better.

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 11:45 AM

Barry will laugh at this because mediocrity brings awesomeness to our football starved state.

Rich Brooks gets his own Maker's Mark bottle.

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 12:27 PM

It sounds like UK fans are trying to convince themselves that this was a good move. Its like when you lie about something for so long that you start to believe it is the truth yourself.

Brent on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 12:32 PM

You're right, this isn't a good move, it's a great one.

Wrecking Crew on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 1:00 PM

I'm not saying it wasn't a good hire, but who the fuck else were they going to get? No other high profile coach was going to even think about coming to UK after Tubby got run off. Aside from someone who wanted more glory (like Calipari, who would never get any at Memphis,) they would have to settle for someone within the UK family who would put up with the fans' shit. I think Calipari is retarded for leaving. He would dominate CUSA for years, eventually win a national championship, and rack up wins until he bacame a hall of fame coach. UK is retarded for making a coach who hasn't won a championship that kind of salary.

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 1:19 PM

Tubby did not get run off. How many times does this need to be said. UK is not racist, they didn't scare the black man away. he left of his own accord. Barnhart's said many times that tubby was not about to get fired, he was absolutely not going to fire tubby. the fans running him off is bullshit. as for cal, yeah, he could've dominated c-usa for years, so what? pitino could've stayed at providence and dominated whatever fuckin' conference they're in. if he wants to be a HOF coach, UK will get him there a whole helluva lot quicker than memphis, and he'd have to do a shitload of winning championships, not c-usa titles, to make it from memphis. as for the salary, it is what it is i guess, he would've made more if he had stayed put, he said so this morning.

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 1:41 PM

The reason why Calipari took the job is because how he wants to be remembered. If he stayed at Memphis he would have made more money, but it wasn't about the money, it is about the legacy, and he knows it.

He wins a championship at UK and he is immediately placed in the same kind of light as Rupp, Hall, Smith and Pitino. It says a lot and he wants it. Besides, he spent 9 years at Memphis and didn't win a National Championship....time to move on to something bigger and better.

Brock on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 1:46 PM

Providence is in the Big East. Not exactly the same as C-USA.

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 1:59 PM

yeah, but when pitino was there the big east then ain't what it is now

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 2:00 PM

my fox memphis, the greatest local station ever, now has the live feed in front of cal's house, where he's doing his press conf., and the comments are on, which is the best part

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 2:01 PM

one of the crew men was setting up the microphone and a guy said "now that's quality repair." everyone's asking for the door, it's great

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 2:03 PM

oh shit, somebody put a black man on the screen, not a good idea

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 2:08 PM

i'm laughing more at this fucking chat than anything else i've seen in a long time.

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 2:12 PM

And for the most important news of all, Fast and the Furious: New Model. Original Parts. opens up on Friday!!!

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 2:13 PM

Someone should tell the black dude to be careful. The last time a blackman was on TV in Memphis, he was shot.

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 2:19 PM

"yeah, but when pitino was there the big east then ain't what it is now"

in 1985 the Big East had 3 teams in the final four. Pitino began coaching Providence in 1985. Nova won the NCAA, St. Johns went to the Final Four with Chris Mullins and Georgetown with Patrick Ewing all in 1985.

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 2:20 PM

My Ewing reference may be wrong, it might have been mutumbo or Mourning, either way college studs.

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 2:23 PM

Northeast basketball has always been good, just like southeast football.

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 2:26 PM

I bet Tubby loved every minute of his time and UK and regrets "leaving."

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 2:26 PM

OTS slowly killed the program. I still love him as a coach and a person, but his recruiting was terrible.

A lot of programs are happy with 20 wins, UK is not one of those programs.

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 2:52 PM

After Pitino leaves for Arizona, feel free to hire OTS.

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 3:00 PM

We will hire one of your man crushes which we can limit to a short list of about 72 dudes.

Phil on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 3:00 PM

right when i get over my gambling addiction they pull me back in:
How many times will former Villanova coach and 1985 National Champion Roland "Rollie" Massimino be shown on TV during the Villanova vs North Carolina Final Four Game?

Roland Massimino must be shown live on TV in the stands of the game to count towards wager.

The over under stands at 3.5

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 3:01 PM

If you have a man crush on 72 dudes, you are simply just gay.

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 3:03 PM

WE have already established you as a homosexual

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 3:04 PM

You'll be joining the gay club soon enough. Some already think you are there.

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 3:15 PM

his girlfriend moved in with him, he's one of us now. we're all gay

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 3:16 PM

denial is the first hurdle to acceptance

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 3:39 PM

So is Sara going batshit crazy with wedding shit yet?

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 3:40 PM

Kentucky does not recognize common law marriages so legally I am straight. You just got lawyered.

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 3:41 PM

so are you saying "legally" you are straight but there is some gray area?

Phil on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 3:47 PM

joe's gayness is not of the "making out with other dudes" variety, but more of a "enjoys watching the guys in porn a little too much" variety

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 3:56 PM

I'm saying I like to support my statements. I think a law is good support for a statement of my heterosexuality.

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:00 PM

Last night I fell asleep with Adult Swim on (King of the Hill and Family Guy) and I woke up and it wasn't the usual cartoons. It was a movie with live actors and actresses meaning not a cartoon and I it was soft core porn with a big black box (censor box not vagina box) over the screen blocking boobs, vagina and penis.

Phil on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:04 PM

was it a girls gone wild infomercial? i've woken up to those before. they are pretty non-censored.

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:05 PM

sarah's going batshit crazy over moving stuff right now, not wedding stuff. our closing got postponed so we won't be closing tomorrow now

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:05 PM

It was an actual movie with what appeared to be a plot they were trying to develop

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:06 PM

still moving this weekend?

Phil on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:07 PM

only made it 2 minutes into the movie before you were "done" with it and never figured out the plot?

happens to me all the time.

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:09 PM

well played philco

Phil on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:11 PM

wait, wait. i got more.

so marc must have seen that movie before too. he told me he LOVES the black box.

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:11 PM

trying to close friday, but i doubt it's gonna' happen, so if it doesn't then no, not moving saturday. i've been dealing with this shit since lunch, i can't begin to describe how pissed i am right now. my entire house is boxes right now

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:20 PM

who is marc?

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:24 PM

i'm guessing oldham since he referred to black box

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:26 PM

which is so totally wrong

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:28 PM

Has anybody ate at BJ's Brewhouse in Oxmoor Mall?

If so, is it any good?

douglas on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:39 PM

yes and yes

Phil on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 4:51 PM

i had a burger there. it has russian dressing. i approve

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 5:01 PM

Any suggestions as to what to order?

Wrecking Crew on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 5:04 PM

I wasn't a huge fan of their beers. Their meatloaf was pretty good. Overall it wasn't too bad, but it wouldn't be first on my list of places to go though.

Phil on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 5:05 PM

i'm told their pizza is good but the sauerdough burger was fantastic

Phil on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 5:20 PM

it was also overpriced and the place kinda freaked me out. it was like a fancy bw3s

i'd rather go to turkey joes than bjs

Brent on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 5:34 PM

I have a tough time choosing TJ over BJ.

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 6:57 PM

Wrecking Crew on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 7:03 PM

What piece of rusty equipment did you step on?

Wrecking Crew on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 7:04 PM

From Bill Simmons mailbag

Q: Why can't Hollywood make a movie about a guy who doesn't get married, keeps his friends, loves life, dates hot girls up until they get crazy. But also show his old college roommate married with kids, a nagging wife, a crap job he can't quit because of the kids and mortgage. This should be made and mandatory viewing for any single male by the time he hits 18. At least he would have a fighting chance. If you have a great marriage awesome. But I would tell you that nine of 10 married guys I know are in the old college roommate state of life right now. Good luck all you engaged men. (Suckers.)
-- Gabe B., Waterloo, Iowa

SG: And that wraps up this month's installment for "Fellas, Don't Get Married!" By the way, I'd like to give a special shout-out to my buddy Sully, who's already trained his two young sons to answer the questions "How old will you be before you can think about getting married?" and "Where are you going to college?" with the answers "35" and "South or West." Now that's great parenting.

Wrecking Crew on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 7:05 PM

By the way, I am not in the nine of 10 married guys I know are in the old college roommate state of life.

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 7:09 PM

I impaled my leg on Nancy's fence. I was weed eating and I went over to her side of the fence to clean up the fence line and when I was coming back over my foot slipped and I have 3 nice puncture wounds on my leg. Good news is the bleeding stopped.

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 7:12 PM

Anybody else watch 2 and a half men? I was disappointed to see Charlie engaged. Since they are now fighting they better stay apart and charlie better go back to bitches and booze.

joe on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 7:19 PM

All you new home owners have fun with all the joys of yard work and plumbing problems and all that fun shit. Who is having the first drunken party?

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 9:29 PM

Personally, I think you're just trying to get out of the starting line-up.

Bigworm on Thursday, April 02, 2009 at 8:30 AM

Douglas - several UK commits opening up their commitment.

GJ Vilarino
Konner Tucker
KC Ross Miller

And with that being said, John Wall is a UK lean and visiting next week.

Bigworm on Thursday, April 02, 2009 at 9:51 AM

Basically - Cal is cleaning house.

douglas on Thursday, April 02, 2009 at 9:57 AM

tucker wouldn't do well in cal's system, ross-miller said he'd still like to come to KY but hadn't talked to cal yet. heard GJ's opening up his recruitment, but if wall don't come i think he'd be great. even if wall did come, he'd be a backup point guard and would probably start sophomore year. but it also depends on liggins staying or going, b/c he'd be better in cal's sytem as well. he's more of a slasher and could do really well. no way i see porter coming back, he's just plain not good enough to play in cal's system. probably the same for harrelson, i don't see him staying. stewart will probably leave, combo of academics and headcase. cal was supposed to fly to oklahoma today to meet orton and his family and secure that commitment, and he mentioned jon hood yesterday being a great player. hood apparently is trying to pull wall to UK now as well

douglas on Thursday, April 02, 2009 at 9:57 AM

as for the first drunken party, sarah's wanting to have a derby party, all are invited...

douglas on Thursday, April 02, 2009 at 10:00 AM

closing's not happening today, trying to squeeze it in tomorrow

joe on Thursday, April 02, 2009 at 10:36 AM

I'm in Baltimore for Derby. That blows. So if you squeeze it in tomorrow still moving Saturday?

douglas on Thursday, April 02, 2009 at 10:40 AM

yeah, it might be a longshot though, long story short, the relocation company the seller is using has been a total rash on my anus. i'm just pissed cuz i was supposed to close tonight and start moving a bunch of little shit tonight and tomorrow night with nothing but big stuff for the movers, not to mention insight scheduled and water and utilities set up, and now i have to go back and redo everything if it doesn't close tomorrow

joe on Thursday, April 02, 2009 at 10:42 AM

That is crap.

douglas on Thursday, April 02, 2009 at 10:51 AM

with the events of the past several days, this totally got lost, about the shamwow guy getting arrested for beating up a hooker:

SHAMWOW!!!! This story took a very dark and disturbing (sarcasm) turn over the weekend, when the SHAMWOW!!! spokesperson, who’s name it turns out is Vince Schlomi, basically put a beat down on a hooker he had hired. Oh, this lovely story doesn’t end there, though. The reason he beat the living hell out of the street walker? When he kissed her, she bit his tounge and wouldn’t let go. So, the question I ask is: Did he clean the blood off her face with a SHAMWOW!!! Everytime he punched her in the face, did he scream out loud, SHAMSMACKED!!! So many questions, and so little answers.

joe on Thursday, April 02, 2009 at 10:58 AM

That was a classy story. His mug shot is classic.

Bigworm on Thursday, April 02, 2009 at 1:44 PM

Bigworm on Thursday, April 02, 2009 at 3:46 PM
