Quickest way to hell, taking out the pop:

Phil on Friday, December 25, 2009 at 1:00 AM

best puns I've read on da freaking pope:
I thought the Pope was inFALLible.

"He said she also knocked down Cardinal Roger Etchegaray, who was taken to hospital for a check up." - I don't think anyone was expecting her to pick up the spare

Dude called her an "unstable person", but she didn't even fall over. I think the Pope is the real unstable person here.

Looks to me like... mass hysteria

and my favorite:
Sounds like somebody has been playing a little too much assassins creed 2

Phil on Friday, December 25, 2009 at 1:04 AM

Merry Xmas!

Wrecking Crew on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 11:22 AM

Weren't we supposed to be out doing something this weekend like basketball or football?

joe on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 11:37 AM

If anyone ever uses the auto clean feature on the oven, be careful. I may be dead in an hour from these fumes I am breathing in that are pumping out of my oven. I have the windows open but the wind is blowing the fumes back into the house.

I wouldnt mind playing something later today.

Brock on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 1:31 PM

Chip played basketball Christmas Eve, so we may be able to get access again today. I'll keep you all posted.

Brock on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 8:07 PM

Gym has been in use all day by grade school teams. May have to nix those plans. We are planning to head out later though.

joe on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 10:14 AM

UC is fucked against Florida now that they are going to win one for the gipper. Is this a win or i'll die situation?

joe on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 10:33 AM

ESPN just mentioned bobby petrino to UF.

joe on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 6:06 PM

House is pretty much clean for new years. All we need is food and booze. Any volunteers?

joe on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 6:44 PM

New Years who all is coming and what all are you planning to bring?

So far it sounds like:
Should we pitch in for a keg for drinking games?
Me - chili, high life dogs, a breakfast dish for anyone that crashes and wants it and the house
Chris - meatballs, shrimp and jello shots
Cuban - Tortilla chips, queso and rum

Do you all want the Jager Machine hooked up? I have about half a fifth of jager and a few red bulls. if so who wants to bring Jager and Red bull? Also, Brock isn't coming so who is bringing champagne for drink its tradition? Just trying to tie up some loose ends? Chips and soda are needed as well.

So did anybody else watch the UK-Clemson game? I know when UK (we) got the ball on the their side of the field and we went 3 and out we were fucked.

On a side note, having the wind gusts up to 23 mph with already an erratic passer is not a good thing.

joe on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 10:34 AM

I turned the game off at the end of the 3rd quarter when there was a clock issue, timeout, penalty that wasn't a penalty and all kinds of other delays. I believe Brooks called a timeout with 2 seconds left in the quarter so that Clemson would be punting into the wind instead of letting the clock run out and pinning them deep.

joe on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:01 AM

Adrian, you in the office this week?

douglas on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:02 AM

yeah, it wasn't a pretty game. i was confident as hell when UK scored at ease on the first drive, but they never got that back. clemson kept UK in the game with a lot of penalties, UK had a chance to bring it close on two seperate drives in the fourth quarter, but randall cobb dropped an easy pass on a third down conversion so they had to punt, and of course the fumble mccaskill lost. I wasn't too optimistic about the game, clemson's not a bad team, could easily be in a BCS bowl. what's more encouraging is that all the key components on offense will be back, newton's progressed a lot since his first start and is showing signs of being a very good, versatile QB, cobb of course is a stud, locke will be back, along with all their receivers.

douglas on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:12 AM

how about meyer pulling a billy donovan and changing his mind...something about those FL coaches

Bigworm on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:18 AM

fucking receivers need to learn to catch the ball.

adrian on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:20 AM

Yep

joe on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:22 AM

I just think Urban Meyer knows next year could be a down year.

douglas on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:23 AM

that's what happens when you lose jesus as your QB

joe on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:26 AM

Calipari taking next year off after John Wall leaves?

douglas on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:29 AM

a lot easier to reload in bball. if you thought this year's recruiting class was good, wait until the 2011 class, juniors now. The #1, 2, and 3 recruits are all heavy UK leans. Michael Gilchrist is that year's John Wall and everyone has pretty much UK penciled in already, and the #3 guy, Quincy Miller, has posted videos on his twitter doing the john wall dance. calipari will be okay for a few years

joe on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:32 AM

I thought there was no other John wall?

douglas on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:34 AM

you are correct, my mistake. john wall is the black tebow, he does no wrong. but gilchrist is that year's unquestionable #1 player

joe on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:37 AM

Kind of like Samardo Samuels, top high school player in the nation.

douglas on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:41 AM

kinda like derrick caracter and brandon bender too, weird how they only flame out at UL

douglas on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:52 AM

i've missed shit talking, couldn't do it the last couple years, and it just felt wrong to do it during football season, like kicking a dead puppy

joe on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 12:54 PM

Everybody can't be Sebastian Telfair and Amir Johnson

Brock on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 1:14 PM

If Derrick Mason wasn't a retard and could catch an open pass, I would have the Fanatasy Football championship locked up and the Steelers would be out of the playoff hunt. Ryan Grant picking up 2 more yards would have also netted an additional 7 points.

joe on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 1:26 PM

This season was a disaster. I wouldn't say I had a bad team, I blame the scheduling comittee.

Phil on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 1:49 PM

i tried the fiery grilled wings from kfc. they are quite tasty. Full of shit about them being healthy. One wing has 4 grams of fat (the regular hotwings have 5), and have 50mg more sodium than the hot wings too.

But they were yummy.

Brock on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 1:55 PM

Whatever we ate on Saturday night kicked my ass on Sunday.

joe on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 1:56 PM

I passed out on the couch Saturday night. I was waiting to hear from Paul and/or Barry who were in town. I liked some of the texts I got.

Phil on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 2:13 PM

my stomach was too full of booze to be hurt by any food on Sunday.

I slept until 5pm.

Phil on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 3:19 PM

rumors of Andree McGee coming back to do some coaching for Louisville...

joe on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 3:25 PM

why?

Phil on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 3:40 PM

who knows. I know that Pitino has dumbed the press way down - maybe he's coming in to help with that.

joe on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 3:49 PM

I just want a Carlton dance.

Bigworm on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 4:43 PM

joe on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 5:09 PM

I am leaning towards anytime after 6ish. What does anyone think about that? i figure that will give us plenty of time to drink after we get things ready and I believe Laura is working on Thursday for a while too.

Phil on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 10:36 PM

i will probably be there at 7ish after I prepare the delicious food

joe on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 7:44 AM

awesome.

joe on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 8:31 AM

I am ready to drink Thursday. Mentally I am ready to drink Thursday, physically, it might be a disaster.

joe on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 10:45 AM

Is it any good?

Jay on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 10:50 AM

That really sucks about Avenged Sevenfold. They are about one of the only "newer" bands that I really liked.

Joe-I liked Avatar, but I don't know if you would like it. I recommend seeing it in 3D if you do.

joe on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 10:50 AM

Jay, you coming thursday?

Jay on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 10:59 AM

Congratulations to me on a Fantasy Football league championship thanks to Adrian Peterson's fumble in OT last night.

Phil on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 3:23 PM

you guys got luck that Joe and I got hosed in the playoffs. Two best teams my ass.

Oh, and thanks for the birthday wishes, fuckers!

Brock on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 3:32 PM

Must have been a fluke that the team sitting atop the standings all season wins the title. Allow me to gloat on this since I usually get screwed over by Joe in the playoffs.

joe on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 3:40 PM

I still blame the scheduling committee. I believe I was tops in points.

Bigworm on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:14 AM

Oh and every UK fan's favorite son of a prophet is leaving Illinois.

In news that his mother Tweeted out three years ago, Alex Legion is leaving Illinois after one year and his future destination is unknown. You may remember Legion as a Clyde recruit who committed to Michigan, then decommited…came to UK and then left after one semester. It looks as if Illinois didnt work for him either and now he is headed to another pasture that may or may not be greener. At least his shoes will be blessed by his mother the Prophet.

joe on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 5:13 PM

Good thing it is the last day of the work week for me. Rage Against the Machine Killing in the Name of came on the radio on my way home and made it better.

it was already an obnoxious week, then I got a call into a supervisors office. He was on the phone. He put it on speaker phone with the Lexington hospital. They were wondering what happened to this case. I was labelled the idiot prematurely. In the long run it turned out I had sent a case back to a guy to send back to the hospital because he scheduled the veteran for the wrong exam. The guy reordered the same wrong exam. The hospital called him and said I told him to and that he would talk to me and get it straightened out. He then ordered a different wrong exam and the hospital called him back. he threw me under the bus and said he talked to me and I told him to do it. On speaker hone I had no clue all this happened and I told them I hadn't spoken to this guy all week and then I told them I would figure it out. Turns out I save all documents and I went back and read my exact directions I told him to the hospital over the phone and my directions said to order the correct exam all along and the guy is just an idiot. after further investigation the guy had spoken to the wrong joe in the office and the other joe had actually told him the same thing my directions said.

Are you looking to work with the group doing the environmental study on Chesapeake Bay? I've heard a lot of money is going into that.

Brock on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 4:12 PM

Joe, if they ever take on my idea to build super-trains or monorails between cities, I'd be there. The 3 hour drive would just waste my day off tomorrow.

Everyone is welcome to come over to our place for the game tomorrow. There will be a good mix of UK and UL fans so tempers aren't welcome =) Call for directions if you need to. We will have some appetizers and can order pizza if you want.

Brent on Friday, January 01, 2010 at 9:55 PM

Someone should call Brock, he might try to hurt himself

Brock on Friday, January 01, 2010 at 10:04 PM

Wow, I'm getting harassed by all these UK fans. Didn't Clemson just embarrass you all?

douglas on Friday, January 01, 2010 at 10:14 PM

damn this is ugly, although i'll cut cinci some slack, no head coach...

the difference is clemson was thisfar away from playing in a BCS bowl but bowden retiring screwed them, so they dropped to the music city, that's the ACC's #2 team. clemson is no doubt better than UK, but it was far from an embarrassment. florida is flat out demolishing cinci, up 27 so far before halftime

douglas on Friday, January 01, 2010 at 10:15 PM

and besides, the football team was playing without john wall, so expectations were far lower

douglas on Friday, January 01, 2010 at 10:15 PM

damn that was a hit!

adrian on Friday, January 01, 2010 at 10:26 PM

i know exactly what hit you are talking about.

Phil on Friday, January 01, 2010 at 10:34 PM

John Wall in a rocking chair vs. Tim Tebow?

joe on Saturday, January 02, 2010 at 9:21 AM

The fans at Kentucky have always been the classiest fans in the country,” Calipari said. “Always. And my hope is that it's that way. But if it's not? I'm coaching a basketball game. I will not look at the seats. I never do. At that point, I'm coaching my team. I'm not the Rupp police; I'm coaching my basketball team.”

Brock on Saturday, January 02, 2010 at 4:45 PM

Eh, basketball season is underway and the Bearcats just knocked off the #10 team, so at least there isn't much of a hangover.

I do have to say that the UK-UofL game is more brutal than the UC-Xavier game this year. It surprises me how a class-act player like Patterson doesn't rub off just a little on Cousins. That boy has some issues.

stew on Saturday, January 02, 2010 at 5:58 PM

i love everyone calling cousins a thug, i fucking love it. he got kneed in the head, and yet he's the thug b/c of the forearm, i fucking love being back. i've never had as much fun on the internet as i've had since the game was over. i'll take his thug ass along with his 18 and 18 all the way to the next NBA draft. so glad the rivalry's back, that game was getting boring

Bigworm on Saturday, January 02, 2010 at 10:20 PM

Yeah they have a picture of the knee to the head on the C-J. Only thing better would have been if Sosa was on the receiving end of that forearm.

douglas on Saturday, January 02, 2010 at 10:29 PM

i was disappointed with the way UK played, they didn't play well at all, but with that said great teams win the ugly games. i'm happier since the game was over, i've heard more hating on UK in the last couple hours than i've heard all year, that alone makes it worth it

joe on Saturday, January 02, 2010 at 10:34 PM

The forearm looked a little more deliberate then the knee to the head. I will let the neutral Brock make the final decision since he knows a thing or 2 about thug basketball being a bearcat fan.

joe on Saturday, January 02, 2010 at 10:36 PM

Honestly no one at Lynnies even mentioned a knee to the head that I recall. This was the first I heard of the knee to the head. Adrian never even mentioned it.

joe on Saturday, January 02, 2010 at 10:38 PM

Cousins forearm bouncing a guys head off the floor after a whistle is okay yet Laettner stepping on a guy isn't?

douglas on Saturday, January 02, 2010 at 10:46 PM

the reason you didn't hear about it is b/c the only angle that CBS showed you could see the forearm clearly, but they played it at another angle only once, where you could clearly see the knee. here's a picture:
http://www.courier-journal.com/apps...0012&Ref=PH
that's why he didn't get ejected, if it was just the forearm i'd agree with you, he shoulda been gone, but he retaliated. he also got pushed twice when he stood up. they kept talking about the damn forearm, but never bothered to show the replay that clearly showed the knee more than once, and of course kellogg wasn't going to say anything to support or defend UK. we were yelling at the TV for them to show it again and they never did

and yes, the knee was just as deliberate, his had no reason to kick his knee all the way up to cousins' face

douglas on Saturday, January 02, 2010 at 10:47 PM

and laettner never got touched before 'the stomp' so your comparison is irrelevant

Bigworm on Sunday, January 03, 2010 at 12:48 AM

What happened in the beginning that got Bledsoe so riled up? I missed that...btw, did the elbow ever hit him? It looked liked it missed anyway.

douglas on Sunday, January 03, 2010 at 11:06 AM

bledsoe and delk and sosa were running it, they only showed bledsoe on TV. that ESPN piece has been a long time coming too

joe on Sunday, January 03, 2010 at 12:11 PM

It is all just one big anti UK conspiracy.

Bigworm on Sunday, January 03, 2010 at 12:28 PM

Apparently jawing started during warm-ups and UofL basketball players were yelling we're bad muther fuckers before the game. I just wonder if UofL can sustain that attitude...if so, they won't get completely destroyed in the Big East.

Brock on Sunday, January 03, 2010 at 12:51 PM

Alright, I just watched that fan video of the "knee to the head." If that was intentional, it was the weakest kick I've ever seen (which wouldn't surprise me coming from a skinny guy). However, its obvious the reason his knee came flying up is because of the body blow Cousins delivers as he is diving onto the ball. Conclusion: reflex.

There were actually two forearms delivered in the scuffle by Cousins: one unintentional and one intentional. Therefore, both UK and UofL fans have a Cousins' forearm that they can point to as evidence.

joe on Sunday, January 03, 2010 at 5:59 PM

douglas on Sunday, January 03, 2010 at 7:18 PM

bigfoot would've just eaten swopshire for a snack. but yeah, i'm over the whole knee/elbow thing, the refs made the right call, people can keep calling us thugs, i don't give a shit. talked to my aunt who was there, she saw smith and sosa running thru UK's layup lines and bumping cousins during warmups, the cameras never got that, and forget the courier, in every single article this morning they talked about the forearm, but not once mentioned the knee in any of them. the knee wasn't the hardest hit ever, but neither was the forearm, cousins could've easily knocked swopshire's skinny ass the fuck out. i forgot this is always what happens when UK's on top, just happy to be back to being the most hated (well 2nd most, there's always duke). hope you UL fans enjoy your only trip into national relevance this season, we'll be there all year

douglas on Sunday, January 03, 2010 at 7:21 PM

the media's just running out of wall is the greatest freshmen ever stories, so now they need a new template, cousins the thug is it. nothing he does off the court speaks to that.

Wrecking Crew on Sunday, January 03, 2010 at 8:11 PM

It's not that Cousin's is a thug, but he whines like a little bitch. With as much as he cries, you'd think he wasn't a fucking giant out there. At least he doen't play like a little bitch like UL's "big" man. Samuel's might actually turn out to be a decent player if he grew a fucking pair and played like a man.

Cousins a thug? I say fuck that. Cousins just doesn't back down and why should he? He is 6'11" and 270 pounds of whip your ass. Not since Magloire have I ever been so happy with one of our centers. All non-UK fans love the days when Sheray "Canadian" Thomas and Bobby "The Future" Perry manned the middle. Because they were soft.

Smaller opponents constantly hit Cousins; him reacting doesn't make him the bad guy. If you don't want Cousins taking care of business then don't hit him, it's really that simple. I'd rather be the thug than the bitch. There's a reason why Doug Christi is famous.

Pitino's plan was brilliant, foul the shit out of everybody, slow the game down, and try to piss Cousins off. Well they might of pissed him off but he settled down and manned the middle to 18 and 18.

Bigworm on Monday, January 04, 2010 at 9:30 AM

And this is why I love him.
http://blog.al.com/press-register-s...sins_on_th.html

Mobile's Demarcus Cousins told Jason King of Yahoo! Sports he is not planning to change the way he plays as he steps out onto the court for the Kentucky Wildcats.

In other words, he's making no apologies for the temper of physical style of play he brought to the game during his high school years at LeFlore in Mobile.

King's article -- headlined "Relating to Cousins," and you can read it online at Yahoo ! Sports -- points attention to the 6-foot-11 freshman's temperament during his high school days.

Don't expect anything different on the college court, Cousins told King.

"On the court," Cousins says in the Yahoo! Sports article, "I'm a bada**. I'm mean. I'm there to cut your throat. I'm not there to be nice. Off the court, I'm cool. I'm chill. I play around with you. I'm nothing like people say I am. Anyone that's taken the time to get to know me will tell you that."

"But on the court ... like I said, I'm there to cut your throat."

I am looking at purchasing a new tv for a bedroom. I am looking at a TV in the 32 inch range that can mount to the wall. What are anybodies thoughts on 720p vs 1080p for a 32 inch TV for a bedroom and does anybody know how much a month it is for a 2nd HD box from insight? I am seeing 720p in the 350 range and 1080 in the 550 range. is the $200 worth it for a second TV for the bedroom?

douglas on Monday, January 04, 2010 at 10:10 AM

on a 32 inch screen do not pay the extra for 1080p, go with 720p, the difference between the two isn't really noticeable until you get to bigger TV's. i just got a panasonic 32" 720 for my bedroom a couple months ago and everything I read about 32" is that it's pointless to pay the extra $ for a 1080p. also according to the guys at best buy, the difference between the brands at that size are very minimal, so whether you do panasonic / sony / samsung whatever, they'll all pretty much be the same. the differences occur on the larger screens. no idea on the HD box prices though, I still don't have HD, not going to get it until I upgrade the TV in my living room and get one for the basement

douglas on Monday, January 04, 2010 at 10:11 AM

i wanna say i spent like 380 or so on mine, though all the prices were pretty comparable, probably a bit cheaper right now as they're on sale thru the holidays and for the super bowl

joe on Monday, January 04, 2010 at 10:13 AM

That is what I was thinking, 720 vs 1080 on a smaller TV doesn't matter and the post holiday super bowl sales might be nice.

So Saturday night me and a couple of my buddies go up to BJ's in Oxmoor Mall to eat some dinner after the game. And low and behold they sit Charlie Strong and his entourage at the table right next to us...I could reach out and touch him. Well, we finally decided that if we did not ask for a picture or say something we would all regret it. So before he started eating I went up to him, because I have no shame in situation like these haha, I said that we are really excited about next year and how happy we are to have him as a coach shook his hand and ask him if we could get a picture with him. Well after he crushed my hand with his handshake he said sure not a problem. He is a super nice guy and now I have a picture with him. if you want to come down and shake my hand that is cool with me.

There is a cool deck on the back and there is an upstairs bedroom with a door to the back with a little balcony that is pretty interesting to say the least. Other then what the house looks like from the back I can't really say much about it. I believe Winchester has a few houses that did that renovation of the 1 car garage. Good Morning and happy Wednesday. Kindly "read and heed" the following:

The 4th floor unisex restroom is designated for wheelchair use only.

I just want everyone to be clear that you are to use one of the other restroom facilities unless you are in a wheelchair. I've not been advised of any exceptions.

If any one is unclear about which restroom is designated for wheelchair use only, then please me. Likewise, please let me know if you see anyone using this facility other than those in a wheelchair.

Let's be respectful of those who really need this facility.

4th and Market is my bus stop and the proposed site of the chicken. That would be awesome.

i would guess the Jags would be the more likely culprit to get moved, at least initially. They've been trying to get a new stadium financed and it ain't gonna happen, and they have zilch for fan support

douglas on Wednesday, January 06, 2010 at 2:39 PM

of course L.A.'s been trying to get a team unsuccessfully for a long time now, so I don't see it happening for awhile

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 06, 2010 at 2:58 PM

I was thinking from the player's standpoint. Stay up north and play in the snow or move to L.A.

Cornell up on #1 Kansas at the half. The upset could help UK.

Damn TARC bus was a half hour late.

joe on Thursday, January 07, 2010 at 8:56 AM

JCPS should have closed just to get a few people off the road. It isn't that bad out, just people freak out. Get teh buses off teh road and a few people not going to work to watch their kids and everything would have been fine.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 07, 2010 at 9:25 AM

I had no problems getting into work at all...maybe 20 minutes later than I typically would. For the people having problems in the snow, they need to check their tire tread to see if their tires are bald.

douglas on Thursday, January 07, 2010 at 9:27 AM

dropping kaelyn off at school was fine, it was getting from her school to work that sucked b/c i got stuck behind 3 separate buses, a 10-15 minute drive took me almost an hour

Bigworm on Thursday, January 07, 2010 at 9:28 AM

Phil on Thursday, January 07, 2010 at 2:13 PM

So I thought "whoops, wrong number"

And then the guy says "I just can't find your address on our GPS. We got you as living on ____" and said my addresses.

I have no idea how this could have happened. I think it might have been some weird scam or something. Very weird.

Phil on Thursday, January 07, 2010 at 2:13 PM

I am considering trying to get my X-box 360 repaired. Anyone know of a place to take an X-box 360 to be repaired or does anyone recommend shipping it somewhere? Any thoughts at all?

Phil on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 12:21 PM

I think Microsoft has a monopoly on that stuff. What's it doing?

joe on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 12:40 PM

http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/20...-jim-leavitt%2F

Jim Leavitt fired.

I haven't used it in over a year since it started freezing up and went all rings of death or something. There are random places that you can ship it to to fix it for a fee. I'd prefer taking it to a place that I recognize instead of shipping it off somewhere. I called microsoft once and they were making me jump through hoops and stuff to try and fix it over teh phone and it was a mess.

Phil on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 12:43 PM

yeah, when I called them they had me jump through the hoops too.

I felt like the guy in the KFC in the family guy "I tell you it dead!"

But they eventually mailed me a box, and then I had to mail it back to them. But it was still under warranty and stuff I think.

This dude has a way to repair a broken one: http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repai...x-clamp_fix.htm

Who knows if it works. My buddy Dave says it does

Bigworm on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 12:49 PM

I know Joker Phillips has already let two assistant coaches go, Petri and Heggins. Both were solid coaches, but neither recruited worth a damn. Speculation is that many more will be let go.

Phil on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 1:11 PM

Yeah, sucks to be theme but one was so old and the other had some personal stuff that kept him from traveling. Uk always did have solid line play though

douglas on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 1:15 PM

at this point though the only way to get over that hump they're stuck on now is recruiting. they've proven to be a decent mid-level SEC team that's capable of never being an easy win, but to win all of those games that they've been in position to win, they just need better players and more depth. they've already proven they can coach the hell out of 2-star recruits, that only gets so far in that conference

douglas on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 1:15 PM

plus with charlie strong now at UL, they're going to have more competition for the top in state recruits

Joe - you probably have to send your xbox into microsoft. what is wrong with it?

joe on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 2:53 PM

It freezes after a couple minutes. it is one of the 3 or 4 rings or death. It has been broken for a year. Cuban bought a new one when mine broke and after he moved I never brought mine back out and just decided that maybe I should get it fixed.

douglas on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 2:55 PM

is it the breaking benjamin one?

joe on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 3:04 PM

yep.

joe on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 3:13 PM

I have guitar hero, smackdown, madden and nhl hockey and 2 controllers that I let Cuban take since I didn't have a working xbox 360. I thought it would be nice to have a working Xbox 360 and get all my stuff back eventually. I was curious whether i could actually get it fixed or whether I would be better off just buying a new one.

mowgli on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 3:16 PM

I would contact microsoft and see if it is still under warranty, same thing happened to ours and it was under warranty, they sent me a box to mail it in. They changed out the fan for free and mailed it back to me in a few weeks.

Phil on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 3:17 PM

Mine was off warranty so I bought a 360 arcade. I had the hard drive and wireless chumpies from my old one that worked fine - i just swapped them out.

Phil on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 3:24 PM

you can get an xbox 360 elite (comes with a 120gb hard drive) and two games for $240 at amazon right now. It also comes with a year of xbox live. That's a heck of a deal.

What's gay is that the 360 doesn't do wireless out of the box so you also have to buy that adapter or run a cable into your spare bedroom if you want to play online or download new songs for rock band or shitty little games like Peggle.

joe on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 3:27 PM

I really don't do all the wireless, hard drive or xboxlive stuff. I just want it for Smackdown and Guitar Hero

douglas on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 3:30 PM

is there anything else really?

joe on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 3:36 PM

I can get into madden occasionally and hockey is always a blasy on video games. I wanted to get a baseball game but my xbox died.

Phil on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 3:55 PM

the only reason the internet is good is because you can download free demos of games and some cheap $5 games that are pretty solid.

I never play on the internet, although Cheryl almost has me convinced to buy Call of Duty

douglas on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 3:58 PM

was over at dino's when he was playing call of duty and it looked pretty cool, i can't get into much more than what joe was talking about

Phil on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 4:19 PM

true. For $80 I could justify it. But for Joe or you it's probably retarded.

But if it was built in they'd be more likely to get more sales because a lot of people view it as "I don't really play games online" but they are missing out on a lot. For example, I can stream Netflix movies or movies I downloaded to my computer to it. Kinda nice.

douglas on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 4:22 PM

whenever i end up getting a couple new TV's I want one of those new ones that you can stream netflix directly to

Brock on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 4:52 PM

Ty's Xbox had the same issue. He followed the online repair and fixed it. That lasted about 6 months before it completely pooped out.

I saw that the new Madden has a cool Xbox Live feature where you can play dynasties with your friends. They even have weekly highlights from the previous games so you can gloat.

Phil on Friday, January 08, 2010 at 7:45 PM

well this is awkward.

I can't get my car up the hill into my condo. Tires won't grip. Then it got stuck trying to get into the kroger parking lot in a bunch of slush and ice. I had to turn off the limited slip differential and just slide the ass end of the car in.

The car came from Georgia, so I'm assuming the person who previously owned them had summer tires. God damn it.

Phil on Saturday, January 09, 2010 at 11:20 AM

ok, tire's scheduled to be replaced. now i just need to hope that no one broke into my car down in the kroger parking lot while it sat overnight.

Brock on Saturday, January 09, 2010 at 12:15 PM

Even though the Explorer can't go in reverse or faster than 35mph, the 4-wheel drive still works, so I've got that going for me.

Phil on Saturday, January 09, 2010 at 12:18 PM

fun fact: I can drive it in in reverse in the snow just fine. The weigh shift to the back gives it enough grip that the LDS doesn't engage and shut off the power to the drive train.

Hopefully Kroger isn't too busy so I can back around easily...

Phil on Saturday, January 09, 2010 at 12:57 PM

disregard that. I parked on an incline with the car facing forward. Can't pull out of the spot. I am stick in a tenth of an inch of slush.

The tires are slick as shit. Not totally surprised.

Brock on Saturday, January 09, 2010 at 5:00 PM

stew on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 12:02 AM

oh, and to weigh in on the video game system argument...although I'm sure Phil knows all the technical ins and outs way better than I do, I actually prefer PS3. I had a 360 and I finally got rid of it in favor of the PS3. It's net ready out of the box (no adaptors or anything) and Playstation network is free. Plus you get Blu Ray and all you need is a free disc from Netflix and you can stream all your movies.

stew on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 12:07 AM

It will be interesting to see how the Charlie Strong-Joker Phillips thing plays out in-state. I have met Joker several times and was really impressed. The guy is 110% class. I'm happy UK gave him the job. I think he will at the very least continue the success that old man Rich had the last couple years. Having said that, I am a Cards fan, so I can't say I wish him great success in recruiting KY.

stew on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 12:22 AM

And now I'm exceeding my annual quota of posts, but knowing that there are a few hockey fans in the 'Sci community, I have perfected a strategy for seeing some great NHL games in SoCal. The Ducks usually draw pretty well, but not like places like Detroit, Chicago, Toronto, etc. So they offer some pretty decent ticket specials. They offer the "victory pack" in the second half of the season (which is when the Ducks always play phenomenal hockey). You buy tickets for 4 games and every one of those games the Ducks win, you get free tickets to another game. So far Ducks 2, opponents 0. Which means I get 2 free games. It's almost a scientific formula. New year= Hiller gets hot, the ageless Selanne comes back from an injury and still scores goals at the rate of a star half his age, and the slow starting Canadian Olympians Perry and Getzlaf start finding the back of the net with freakish regularity.

Bigworm on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 9:57 AM

Stew - I agree that it should be interesting to see how Strong and Joker handle their programs. Both guys are absolutely classy guys and I hope both do well....just UofL can suck it up against UK for several more years.

So far Joker has added 1 coach in Mike Summers (been with Petrino for last 7 years) as OL coach. Joker offered MSU DL coach the job (David Turner) and all indications point to him taking that job. Dan Mullens did counter that offer so who knows for sure.

joe on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 10:18 AM

Has Cousins gotten that guys nuts out of his mouth yet? He got posterized pretty bad, full teabag.

Bigworm on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 10:34 AM

Yeah that was an awesome dunk for sure. Cousins tried to take the charge and just got obliterated. I was hoping to see Leslie try it again to see if Cousins would have tried to take the charge or try to kill him but we never got to see it.

douglas on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 10:41 AM

i actually went to the GA game, i have a new appreciation for how good cousins is. he is fucking phenomenal down low, every time he touched the ball with only one defender on him, the play was over. you could see the new strategy that will likely be deployed on a regular basis, that teams will try the hack-a-shaq approach on him. one thing i liked more though, and i'm not sure if this played on TV, but whenever cousins picked up a foul (there were two especially that were awful calls, the whole game was horribly officiated), he would just keep on jogging away from the refs so as not to argue. when he picked up his second foul in the first half, he just trotted straight back to the bench w/o even looking at the refs, it was quite amusing

douglas on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 10:42 AM

UK was never in real danger though

Bigworm on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 10:45 AM

How loud was the "Ooooooh" from the Rupp Crowd when his headband got knocked off and he flung it over to the bench after his teammate retrieved it for him?

Bigworm on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 10:45 AM

The other good thing is Cousins is shooting over 70% from the FT line in the last 7 games.

Bigworm on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 10:56 AM

Here's the dunk Joe is talking about.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBKyoSBEAnQ

Still a bad ass dunk even though Cousins was late to arrive.

Bigworm on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 10:59 AM

Douglas - I tell you what man, did you think Patterson would be able to play this way? I didn't.

I am surprised with how Patterson is playing. He has really developed as a player.

douglas on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 10:59 AM

it was pretty big, it's the first game i've been to this year after going to a bunch last year. the difference was unreal in the crowd and atmosphere. much louder than anytime last year. and they beat the shit out of cousins down low too. their game plans was solid actually, they played a collapsing zone, stopped wall from penetrating and doubled down on cousins whenever he came near the ball and hacked him to death. sure he'll see that more and more. but those guys that fouled out, I think there were 3, should've fouled out much earlier than they did. and i've never seen so many travelling calls in my life, on both sides of the ball, the officials really fucked up the flow of the game, and that helped out GA a lot.

douglas on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11:02 AM

he's a stud, his only knock right now is he's not rebounding as much, but that's more b/c cousins is down there as well playing on the post, while patterson's more on the wing. pat's been real quiet this year, all the attention's on the freshman, but then you look up and see he's got 17 points out of nowhere

joe on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11:11 AM

Other teams can no longer double team Patterson

Bigworm on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11:18 AM

I have only been to 1 game this year as well.

I went to about 10 last year and only 1 this year. I guess people actually want to keep their tickets this year.

I made the comment the other day that Cousins is even blocking Patterson out of the paint which is pretty impressive. I guess if Cousins gets 18 rebounds there isn't much left over for Patrick.

Bigworm on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11:36 AM

For anybody wanting to buy a car in the near future, Ford is planning on bringing over the European version of the Ford Focus to the states. I wonder if they will bring up the RS version which is a pretty badass little car. Problem is, it will probably cost in the $30K ballpark.

douglas on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11:37 AM

there are all kinds of little dinky cars over there i'd never seen before that car companies develop just for Europe.

Bigworm on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11:50 AM

The major difference in the small car market in Europe vs. USA is attributed to the cost associated with the car in Europe. Cars are extremely expensive to own there and with high gas costs they pack a lot of performance and options into their smaller cars. I like smaller cars but with a family it is hard to get a smaller one that still accomadates the lifestyle.

Surprisingly, Abby's RDX isn't all that big but we can fit a shit load into it because the seats fold flat.

some of these are amusing in light of TN's new situation:

A lady in Knoxville calls 911. Hysterically, she says, “Someone’s just broken into my house, and I think he’s going to rob me!”
The police officer says, “Ma’am, we’re really busy at the moment.
Just get the guy’s jersey number and we’ll get back to you.”

Q: What is Lane Kiffin’s biggest concern?
A: Does the NCAA count bail money as a recruiting violation?

Q: What do you call a drug ring in Knoxville?
A: A huddle.

Q: Four Tennessee players are in a car, who’s driving?
A: The police.

Q: Why can’t most of the UT players get into a huddle on the field?
A: It is a parole violation to associate with known felons.

The University of Tennessee team has adopted a new Honor System:
“Yes, your Honor. No, your Honor.”

The Volunteers are hoping for an undefeated season next year…

12 Arrests, 0 Convictions.

Q: How did the Volunteers spend the first week of Spring practice?
A: Studying their Miranda rights.

If not, Smith's Furniture is going out of business and you might be able to get good deals on some furniture there. The one on Shelbyville Road had a lot of shit already sold might check elsewhere.

Also worth trying is Oak Express/Furniture Row. They have really upgraded their quality in the past few years.

Phil on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 2:44 PM

I thought it flooded from UT fans peeing on t-shirts

joe on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 3:01 PM

I was not impressed with Smith's. The shit was all damaged and the prices were just brought down to what other places normally are. I saw something at Smiths and pointed out all the damage to basically try to get them to lower it a lot. I said 300 they said 450 I said 300 they said 475. Fucking tards. They then said we are going out of business not out of our minds. Burdorfs of all places had similar stuff cheaper then what smiths was for damaged shit.

douglas on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 3:14 PM

the thing about furniture 'going out of business' sales is that all the prices are marked up, and then they put a clearance tag with the original price on it, so you think you're getting a deal. when i bought my condo i used to go to those all the time when i was furnishing the place and not once did i ever find a good deal.

douglas on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 3:18 PM

as for the basement, it's done. the only thing that's not done is i'm waiting for the bar top, a formica sheet they're putting on top of it, that's it. i've already stained the bar, i'm waiting for the top before i finish it off with the polyurethane finish, and then i need to finish painting the trim around the bar where they put the hardwood floors down and the hand rail, which won't take me long at all, i just need to find the motivation to spend one more hour painting. kaelyn now has one of the greatest play rooms a kid could have. i plan on having my man cave this summer, just need to recoup the savings a bit first for a couple months. i'm going to have them come out put in a built in entertainment wall in the basement and in my living room around the fireplace and hang a TV above the fireplace. it's actually cheaper to get built ins than it is to go buy a good entertainment center

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 3:21 PM

joe on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 3:33 PM

joe on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 3:36 PM

To go along with my questions on TVs earlier, TV wall mounts, anyone have opinions? Tilting good or is fixed okay? Cheap place to get one? I believe I heard lynnie say he got his on Amazon? That a reliable place?

Phil on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 4:18 PM

I buy everything off amazon. I have a fixed mount, but it points right at my couch which doesn't move so I didn't need a tilt (or even think about getting one). In retrospect I should have bought a TV console with a back mount just so that I didn't have to drill into my drywall. If I want to move my TV it's a real pain in the ass now.

from the atlanta journal constitution about charlie strong recruiting some GA kids, shenanigans already?:

“Earlier this week, defensive end Malcom Strong and defensive back Chris Sharpe, both of Stephenson, said they committed to new coach Charlie Strong during an official visit to Louisville this past weekend. But apparently Strong saw it another way and the two players have yet to be acknowledged as commitments. Stephenson assistant Corey Johnson said it remains a fluid situation but clearly is not happy about the way events transpired. Meanwhile, the players are continuing to take visits. Stay tuned. . . .”

Phil on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM

I'm not sure Strong offered, not sure I'd call that shenanigans...Here's a quote from all I've heard of them (from 5 days ago):

Louisville, though, wasn't quite ready to accept verbal commitments from Strong, a 6'3, 230-pound defensive end, and Sharpe, a 5'11, 165-pound defensive back, this weekend. Strong told both recruits that the Cardinals are interested and that he plans to check in with their parents and coaches before signing day.

“I told Coach Strong I wanted to be a Cardinal. He said we have to get his coaching staff down to Atlanta to meet my parents before we finalize anything,” Sharpe said. “He said he didn't want my parents to think I was being pressured on my visit. He also said he was going to call my coach.”

Could John Wall break his own leg or is his leg so strong that John Wall couldn't break it is a question that will haunt us forever. I think that theoretically he could break his own leg, but only if he knew that it would be for the glory and tradition that is UK basketball.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 4:34 PM

I believe he wouldn't break his own leg for the glory and tradition of UK basketball. If anybody is breaking their leg, it would have to be a cinci player and only if they were the clear cut #1 to win it all.....in the glory and honor of their tradition.

john wall is the only one capable of breaking his own leg, but He would do so only as part of a higher plan for Himself and the esteemed glory of the University of Kentucky. Brent on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 4:58 PM

I think Bud Selig should be fired and forced to sell off his ownership. Anybody who has admitted use or caught in the past should have their records revoked and be omitted from the Hall of Fame. If you use a performance enhancing drugs in a sport, then you're cheating, plain and simple. Floyd Landis won the tour de France, busted for PEDs, stripped of his title and banned for 2 years, Michael Rassmussen just lied about his where abouts (against regulations), never was busted for PED's stripped from winning the tour and banned for two years, Marion Jones her and her teammates stripped of their medals...yet baseball players all get a slap on the wrist. I don't know how they can argue Pete Rose's case anymore.

Brock on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 8:15 PM

The difference is that the Olympics and Cycling had explicit drug bans and testing in effect for those individuals you listed. The baseball players never technically broke any rules because there wasn't explicit bans on the 'roids.

Should we start revoking Nobel Prizes because those people drank coffee to stay awake later and study more? They are obviously enhancing their performance as scientists.

Phil on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 9:01 PM

I think another thing to remember is that cycling is 50% an endurance race. If you are racing while using PED you are giving yourself a distinct advantage during the actual competition. I have no problem with baseball or football players using PEDs to get them ready for their next game - baseball games aren't an endurance race - you hit a ball and catch a ball. If you can take a pill or a shot, be it advil, cortisone or steriods that let's you get on the field and compete sooner I have no problem with that.

Like Brock said - I went on a few dates with a girl who would take aderol before each exam in college. Should her degree be invalidated? What about a basketball player wearing contact lenses?

douglas on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 7:22 PM

this is a late response about the steroids, but if they invalidated everyone's records in baseball that cheated, there would be no baseball records. the general public doesn't have a clue how widespread steroids in baseball are / were. people harp on mcgwire doing them and some other big names, but they don't harp on the 75%+ in the minor leagues that take them and never make it to the bigs. steroids alone do not make you better, they might make make some of your home runs go farther, but you still have to be able to hit the home runs. plus the baseball season is 162 games long, you're playing almost everyday, and the days you're not playing, you're on the road. it's a lot tougher sport than people give it credit for. i'm not excusing it, i'm just saying, if you're a professional athlete and your paycheck depends on you getting every advantage possible, and you look around at your peers and the majority of them are doing steroids, HGH, popping greenies and other pills to help them out, all trying to get an advantage on you, you're almost a fool not to do it yourself. if your livelihood depends on you coming back from an injury faster so someone doesn't steal your roster spot, you're more likely to say fuck that and do what you need to do. not saying it's right, just saying i understand

douglas on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 7:24 PM

and what pisses me off even more is everyone harps on baseball players, yet no one says a word about 300 pound linemen in football that run 40 yard dashes in 4.5 seconds. that's not natural. with as physical as pro football is, you pretty much have to take some shit just to survive week in and week out

douglas on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 7:27 PM

and UK sucked today, but they still pulled out a road win in conference, if / when they ever get their shit together for an entire game no one beats them unless you're the lakers. i'm almost beginning to wonder if i wouldn't mind seeing them drop a game just to get the undefeated monkey off their back. after the '96 team lost in the SEC tournament after running out like 26 straight wins or something, they destroyed everyone in the NCAA. the last several games they've played with a stick up their ass until the very end.

Maria Sharapova lost in the first round of the Australian Open to Maria Kirilenko. Kirilenko took 3 sets to prove that she is hotter than Sharapova.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...aria-kirilenko/

Phil on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 12:05 AM

I could have told you a long time ago that Kirilenko is hotter than Sharapova.

Yeah, just a shitty situation.

Bigworm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 9:29 AM

I am curious where Tim Tebow is with all this Haiti disaster. I figured the US would have airlifted him there by now.

Tiger Woods gave $3 million.

I believe I saw the baby intentionally kick him, why didn't Cousins retaliate? Inconsistent behavior! Swopshire and that baby weigh about the same thing.

because the baby had on the right colors

joe on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 10:10 AM

SCrew the cell phone video, i want to see the CBS cameras

Bigworm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 10:41 AM

I just thought it was interesting to see these kids when the lights are not on so to speak. Kind of mortalizes them.

Bigworm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 10:44 AM

So I was browsing Best Buy's outlet center for HDDVDs...yes I have an HDDVD player and a Blu-Ray. So I figured if I wanted to get some HD DVD movies that I should be able to pick them up for a couple pennies on the dollar. Boy was I wrong, Best Buy is selling them discounted at like $29 bucks down from $36. Thanks a lot fuckers.

joe on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 10:44 AM

But John Wall isn't mortal

douglas on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 10:45 AM

he only said kind of

Bigworm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 10:47 AM

Exactly.

joe on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 10:49 AM

Its a sign of weakness.

douglas on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 11:06 AM

john wall only shows weakness on purpose to make others feel better about themselves

douglas on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 11:11 AM

just like he did at auburn, he wasn't having a bad game, he was making auburn, the worst team in the SEC, feel better about themselves. it's a sign of his great compassion

Bigworm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 11:12 AM

John Wall is a benevolent god.

Buying a PS3 tonight, I havent bought a gaming system since N64. I'll probably pick up COD: modern warfare too.

Bigworm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 1:55 PM

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is suppose to be an awesome game.

Brock on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 3:03 PM

So what would be the next best Xbox game to get? Modern Warfare? NCAA Football 10? I'm torn.

Bigworm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 3:06 PM

I want to get Dante's Inferno when it comes out.

Of course, playing Darksiders as one of the Four Horsemen wouldn't be so bad either. But it is always hard to say no to kicking ass and taking names.

Phil on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 3:08 PM

Fallout 3 is fucking awesome

Bigworm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 3:12 PM

I've been wondering about Fallout 3, as I have never played ther other two.

Has anybody played Prototype? It gets pretty good reviews and if you like parkour this is the game for you.

joe on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 3:15 PM

NCAA Football

Phil on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 3:18 PM

I never played Fallout 1 or 2 either. The game is pretty straight forward. You start off in a Vault that was created before the nuclear holocaust as a kid. You do some stuff, and create a character. You can be good or evil, you could focus on being a smooth talker which lets you get cool shit from people for cheap, or you could focus on stuff like explosives or small weapons.

Then you escape the vault and you are in the middle of a completely destroyed Washington DC. Easily 100 hours of game play. Get the game of the year edition which has all the addons too which has more shit that is fun.

I'm torn between GTA IV and Fallout 3 as the best value game ever. Just so much to do.

Bigworm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 3:24 PM

Wow that is pretty awesome. I might have to check it out then.

I know Prototype if a free roaming game and you have endless abilities. Like you can run up buildings, you can see people's memories, etc...

Bigworm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 3:43 PM

Phil - do you prefer the first person or 3rd person view in Fallout 3?

Phil on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 3:45 PM

I just kept the first person view. The animation was weird in third person.

But seriously. The game is cool. One of the first "missions" you can do is to detonate a nuke and blow to shit the first town you come to. If you do it then you get some nice stuff. If you don't the town is a good place as a home base the rest of the game. You could play through it two or three times and not see everything the game has.

mowgli on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 3:45 PM

Brock - I recommend Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it's pretty addictive online.

Bigworm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 3:50 PM

That's cool, I might have to go to gamestop and pick it up.

Bigworm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 11:32 PM

And if UK can beat Arkansas on Saturday. UK will be #1 as Texas just lost.

Phil on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 12:18 AM

Chan Gailey?

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 7:54 AM

These guys are shitty.

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 7:55 AM

He was an Eagle Scout, therefore, probably a pretty good hire.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chan_Gailey

joe on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 8:09 AM

Suprisingly UK was just referred to UK instead of we, what happened?

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 8:17 AM

They are interchangeable.

joe on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 8:39 AM

apparently b-mac works in Pennsylvania now? I just got an email with his new work email address. I got a phone call new years eve about it but I didn't realize he was moving so soon. Is this Camp Hill near Hershey?

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 8:40 AM

I wonder if he drives down the Hershey Highway?

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 8:41 AM

There is one team in college basketball that I do not want us/UK to play.....SYRACUSE.

If we/UK learn to play an entire game staying focused, then bring them on....otherwise I hope they lose early in the tourney.

douglas on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 8:42 AM

got the same email, didn't know he had officially moved. i talked to him several weeks ago and he said he was very close to moving, that he already had a job lined up and lauren almost had one, just waiting on the offer. apparently it's between hershey and harrisburg, the capital. i asked him what he was going to do about his condo in jacksonville b/c he can't sell it for near what he paid for it, he said he'd probably do a short sale or try to rent it out.

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 8:43 AM

I wish him good luck with that sale.

joe on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 8:49 AM

Too early for tournament talk.

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 8:53 AM

Joe Lunardi has been talking bracketology for months.

joe on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 8:58 AM

And it is retarded, kind of like preseason polls.

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 8:59 AM

Yep. But what else is there if not sports to kill our productive contributions to society?

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:00 AM

Since we can't talk sports, I received a two day notification from Pottery Barn saying free shipping ends for organizers. So if you need your shit organized send me an email and I'll forward it.

douglas on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:04 AM

why in the fuck do you get emails from pottery barn?

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:05 AM

So I can jump all over free shipping for organizers. Duh!

joe on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:09 AM

Dan Patrick is discussing what NBA player to compare Luke harongody to. The best they came up with is Gugliata (sp).

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:13 AM

So are all eyes on Massachusetts today or what?

Other than mine of course being on Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel.

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:13 AM

Harongody is Frankenstein's Monster. He is quite possibly the most unathletic center playing the game, but he is a phenomenal shooter.

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:14 AM

Actually Aldrich is the most unathletic.

Or maybe Harongody is just deceptively athletic/

joe on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:34 AM

SI has an article about impact transfers and a lot of the article is on Caracter. The article hasn't touched on Jasper or Legion yet.

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:44 AM

Legion is a joke.
Jasper I feel badly for that guy. When he got to UNLV the coach was surprised the kid could even walk much less play basketball. Gillispie probably ruined his chance at a pro career.

joe on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:47 AM

In honor of the TV show Jersey Shores a coworker began referring to Mike Marra for UL as Mike "The Situation" Marra.

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 10:05 AM

Has that dude hit a three yet?

joe on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 10:08 AM

He is suprisingly actually starting to show a nice shooting touch.

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 10:10 AM

Josh Carrieresque?

That dude was a summer all-american. Every year I read reports how he was the second guy picked up in summer scrimmages and he never missed. I think he hit a billion threes one summer shooting 100% from the arc.

joe on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 10:23 AM

Sosa and Smith are killing UL right now.

Swopshire I see no potential with.

Marra I look at and think he can be a Larry Obannon kind of guy meaning a Pitino project and by his junior senior year he could potentially be a productive member of the UL basketball society.

douglas on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 10:29 AM

i watched jersey shore for the first time the other night and i'm ashamed to say i watched it for pretty much the whole episode. i became a much stupider person and i was powerless to stop it

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 10:30 AM

Douglas - I was trying to watch it ther other day. Those guys are bunch of douchebags but it's funny to me. Apparently the big guy got in a fight...that is when Abby turned it.

douglas on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 10:37 AM

that's the one i watched, it's so totally retarded that is has to be scripted like the rest of their 'reality' shows. it can't be possible to achieve that level of douchiness

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 10:39 AM

douglas on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 1:21 PM

joe on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 1:22 PM

Some kind of certification. Use to be voluntary and if you pass you get a $500 bonus. I am the first person required to take it and pass to get promoted to the next level.

joe on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 1:23 PM

joe on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 1:27 PM

Gotcha. Flying sounds like the smarter way to go. I still need to try my clothes on to make sure they fit. I figured I'd eventually get that straightened out. I think my shirt is too big.

"after being awoken from his frozen slumber by a Russian ice breaker—which frankly, would piss anyone off; I am not a morning person either—Nanook turns into Voltron, smashes the boat, then calls up Iceman and Hollywood for a nuclear sortie over East Lansing (harsh), Columbus (unnecessary), South Bend (understandable) and, for some reason, a volcano.

Oh, then he destroys the entire planet, except for the Carlson Center in Fairbanks, where any survivors of this global bearpocalypse will be forced to do battle in icy bloodsport before the winner is (presumably) eaten by a polar bear."

joe on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 11:49 AM

At lunch half way done with my test. I have a text that Kenzie the gold dog is missing. Great news to get in the middle of a test.

douglas on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 11:50 AM

don't worry, John Wall will find your dog

joe on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 12:17 PM

I guess Kenzie is found

Phil on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 1:39 PM

You know how snoop replaced the ends of words with izzle? If you replace the end of words with "eh" then John Wall's name becomes JehWeh. This sounds exactly like Yahweh.

Coincidence? I think not.

Phil - I think you are onto something.

douglas on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 2:51 PM

brock, you're right about movers, after helping other people move way too many times, and then looking at all the shit i had to move for myself, the 250 or so i spent was so worth it, not to mention how fast they did that shit

Kenzie was found by a homeowner in a backyard on Warner by Cannons Lane which is basically at Seneca Park. They checked his tags and called Laura. So he may have wandered Cannons Lane and successfully crossed Breckinridge Lane.

joe on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 3:46 PM

joe on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 3:52 PM

Me too Wes, no clue what he was doing. Kenzie is scared of his own shadow, I have no clue how he got the courage to cross the shock collar boundary.

Patterson stated he is considering coming back for another season.

douglas on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 8:56 AM

don't hold your breath, he's played his way into virtually every mock draft's top 10. now we have to fucking be worried about bledsoe leaving too, he's getting a lot of publicity as a potential lottery pick. have there ever been 4 lottery picks from the same team before?

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 8:57 AM

Nope.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 8:58 AM

If Blue Jesus comes back (not sure why he would and personally I want him to go so he can support his mother and siblings) then Cousins, Patterson, and Bledsoe all come back.

joe on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 9:01 AM

Coach Cal on Dan Patrick on 1450 AM in an hour

douglas on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 9:18 AM

if they win the championship they're all gone for sure, the only two that might stay are cousins, only b/c if he stays he'll be the most dominant big man in college and a lock for a top 3 pick in the next draft, and bledsoe, which i always kind of assumed was a given, but beyond wall there's not much in the way of PG's in this draft and bledsoe has played his way into consideration as possibly the second best PG in the country, or least the second most potential. barring injury, i can't see wall or patterson back, and i won't allow any wiggle room to get my hopes up

douglas on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 9:18 AM

i kinda hope cousins keeps the 'thug' image so it hurts his draft stock

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 9:33 AM

This is what an NBA scout said on Cousins as reported by Larry Vaught.

“Cousins is a top 15 pick for certain,” the scout said. “I’d pick him in the top half of the lottery, but there are concerns about his maturity. His ability to rebound is very, very impressive. Rebounding is one area that almost always translates to the NBA. He's huge, but he isn't explosive, otherwise he'd be right there with Wall. He can improve on every area of his offensive game, too. If he stays and does that, he is in the running to be the first pick in the draft next year."

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 9:38 AM

It's all going to come down to how badly do they want to kick the shits out of the Tards in their new arena.

joe on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 9:52 AM

Honestly, I think that has no effect on anything. I would say that the only reason to come back is an SEC championship or NCAA championship if they blow that this year. Beating UL at UL is not a reason to stay in college.

joe on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 10:21 AM

1450 AM...Coach Cal...next!

douglas on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 10:38 AM

10-8 0-3 in conference. $98,000 for dinner with him Ashleigh judd and Cal's wife auctioned off on E-Bay. DP kept throwing out Coach K references irritating him. Overall good interview. Cal wasn't half bad.

Phil on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 10:51 AM

please. cousins, wall and bledsoe have all stopped going to class. ain't happening.

douglas on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 11:08 AM

cal said UK was really 10-8? that's awesome. his whole "we're only a .500 team" was a good motivational schtick early in the season, now it's just funny. i think now he just uses it as a joke more than anything. what was he saying about coach k?

joe on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 11:10 AM

Cal would say something along the lines of who else or where else could such and such thing happen and DP would keep throwing out Coach K at Duke could.

I do some banking out of the central bank that is in my office building. I threw up a little when they gave me a bumper sticker for the official bank of UK athletics. My repulsed look made them withdraw their offer and they offered me a world equestrian games sticker instead.

Phil on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 1:19 PM

I'm more of a Whittaker bank shot type of guy, myself.

Central Bank does do a lot of work with Louisville athletics too. But they are huge with UK. Demarcus Cousins and John Hood had a "job" where they "worked" as "tellers" over the summer, for example.

I heard that Wall wasn't going to class too and took an easy semester over the summer. Then I heard on TV that he took a full load and has a 4.0...I dont know if I believe that they are no longer in classes, Im calling BS on that.

joe on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 1:49 PM

one thing I learned at Bellarmine is it is impossible to be ineligible your freshman year, either semester.

douglas on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 1:51 PM

Did you learn that from Creed?

Phil on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 1:52 PM

Wall took pre-algebra over the summer. Whether or not he actually went to that class is in dispute though. He did seem pretty proud of himself for getting that A, so I do doubt the rumors of a couple of St. X kids took the class for him are true.

It's no secret they aren't going to class. They can't be ineligible at this point and they aren't planning on coming back. Earl Clark and Fransisco Garcia did the same thing once they decided they were going pro. By the time grades are announced the season will be over.

Phil on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 1:53 PM

oh yeah, forgot about the freshman rule. That would explain why people were talking about Wall not going to class way back in October.

douglas on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 1:54 PM

i remember a buddy of mine at UK never knew jamaal magloire was in his class until the final, he had never shown up to any classes before until that one

douglas on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 1:56 PM

UK players used to get jobs at horse farms, b/c there were gates on the property and the NCAA couldn't show up for surprise inspections. and they used to give the players cell phones so when they found out about an inspection, they'd call them and get them over there. i also found it odd that all the bball players drove ford explorers

Brent on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 1:57 PM

I heard he registered for 15 hours this semester.

Phil on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 1:58 PM

Yeah, lots of programs will set players up with students to take notes for the players. Some abuse it pretty bad, but it's perfectly ok by the NCAA.

Phil on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 1:59 PM

you gotta have an explorer if you work on a horse farm. duh.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:17 PM

Here's the thing with kids not going to class. If they don't finish the semester in good standing the univeristy can lose scholarships now...I guarantee you Wall, Cousins, and Bledsoe and everybody else on the team will remaining in good standing with the university. Whether they go to class is irrelevant...fuck how many did I skip at Bellarmine?

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:18 PM

I was late every single day to my psych 101 class. The only reason why I even passed was because Wes Orr and I sat next to each other and he couldn't tell us apart because both of us had dark hair, wore hats, and sweats every single day.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:20 PM

Not to mention the tutors and academic center that helps student athletes.

Shit I saw what Chris went through at Bellarmine being a chemistry major and playing baseball. I have no clue how he got through everything like he did.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:22 PM

Charlie Strong already fucking up. See #4.

http://blogs.ajc.com/recruiting/201...10-is-unveiled/

joe on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:22 PM

I disagree with one and dones caring about the future of the program and get good grades because of that. Take easy classes and do just enough to get by, maybe.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:23 PM

It doesn't matter, that is the nature of the beast. As long as their classes satisfy credits towards some degree it is legit.

I don't think the NCAA really cares. These kids make them money, they just want to make it look like they care somewhat.

Phil on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:31 PM

the kid wanted to commit to strong, but strong told him they didn't have a spot. posted about it earlier. I wouldn't exactly say a kid telling strong that he wants to commit, strong telling him he hasn't been offered so he can't is exactly fucking up.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:37 PM

All I know is their coach is pissed due to this miscommunication so it sounds pretty wish washy from the start. I think he was trying to get their teammate Mike Thornton who is a 4-star DT and after he guaged he had zero interest in UofL he left promptly.

douglas on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:42 PM

if you look up at #3 on that post, apparently a bunch of that dude's teammates are visiting UK this weekend

Brock on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:49 PM

Any thoughts about the game Sunday?

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:51 PM

Yep, and UK already has commits from three of his teammates.

He will be here this weekend, God knows we need to replenish the line.

Phil on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:51 PM

Mike Thorton has never been a recruit.

Those kids were brought in because Louisville is desperate for their position, but Strong was hoping to get better players than those guys. I posted this earlier, but this was what was on the scout site about their visit the day of:

"Louisville, though, wasn't quite ready to accept verbal commitments from Strong, a 6'3, 230-pound defensive end, and Sharpe, a 5'11, 165-pound defensive back, this weekend.

He also said he was going to call my coach."

Seems the kids were confused, not sure how I would consider that "fucking up."

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:02 PM

Pesonally I hold C. Str_ng right up there with John Wall. I am only going on second hand information by silly message boards. You know, the non-biased without slants versions.

"Sharpe is visiting to Kentucky this weekend and the Jaguars’ coaches are not at all pleased with new Louisville coach Charlie Strong."

When the coaches are not pleased with the head coach of a particular institution that tells me it was not simply a matter of confusion on their player's part. Maybe they were mislead or maybe they have a big imagination, I do not know as I was not there.

Also, anytime a school has a 4-star DT that is unsigned and you go into that school to recruit another student you better say hello and guage his interest. I never said Thornton was listed on the lousville scout board or listing UofL in his choices, but you better believe he is being "recruited" or atleast having his interest guaged to determine if you even get to speak into his ear.

joe on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:05 PM

I'd hate for Charlie Strong to get on Bob Beatty's bad side. You don't want to feel the wrath of a high school coach.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:07 PM

The problem with getting on their bad sides is you are pretty much black balled from getting back into their school again...or it takes a lot of time.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:07 PM

There have been some pretty good recruits coming out of Lexington Catholic the past few years, but Mumme fucked that up and it wasn't until this year they finally got back in the door....and UK is in the same fucking city.

Phil on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:14 PM

What I read was prior to these kids talking to their coach and the paper, and it appeared they were pretty confused. As of Jan 10th when they took their visit it was pretty clear they weren't going to get offered, so it was pretty odd when they started saying they were going to Louisville.

I'm still pretty sure this Thorton guy was never in the picture. The only reason I say that is that whenever someone is being brought in because of a teammate that is usually all anyone talks about. There has literally been no mention of this guy anywhere on either Louisville site.

I'm not sure what you and Douglas expected strong to do in this situation. Give them a scholarship so their feelings weren't hurt?

joe on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:15 PM

better then getting blackballed

douglas on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:27 PM

i'm not in on this discussion, i was making the remark according to that article you posted earlier that his teammates were visiting UK, I actually don't fault strong at all, I'm sure there was just some kind of miscommunication, I don't typically put too much stock in what any recruit says, you know they'll probably exaggerate to any/all media outlets how much X coach thinks about them

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:27 PM

First of all, I think Strong is a good guy because he could have gone the route of Petrino and just not fax him the LOI to sign on signing day...that is really shady and does not all the young man to go elsewhere for his education. I applaud Strong for doing just that.

But Joe is right, definitely better than getting black balled.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:43 PM

Douglas - here is a blurb on Mike Thornton from kentucky scout.

Just talked with one of Stephenson's coaches. I feel even BETTER about this visit from Thorton now.

He says that Michael is "a big team guy" and he put off visiting FSU and Miami to take this trip with his teammates. He said that Michael has been visited by Joker, Sanders and even Brown. All played a big part and Thornton wanted to give Joker a shot to show what they had to offer.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:45 PM

I just hope we don't get black balled.

$5 says Thornton signs with USC

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:49 PM

I believe he did grow up a big USC fan, so it wouldn't surprise me...but then again he'd have to deal with Lane Kiffin.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:50 PM

I'm sorry, Auburn and Miami were his childhood faves.

Phil on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:51 PM

Never doubt Ed Orgeron. He has ways of making you change your childhood favorites.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:54 PM

USC has enetered the picture and both in-state schools visited him on Monday. Things are really heating up for Michael Thornton and he gives the latest right here.

"I talked to Coach [Ed] Orgeron over the weekend and he offered me a scholarship," said Michael Thornton. "I liked what Coach Orgeron and Lane Kiffin did at Tennessee, so I am going to go out to USC on January 29 for an official visit."

The interest in the Trojans did not start over the weekend. Even though they are not a program close to his home, they are a school he has followed for some time.

"Believe it or not I have always watched USC and always liked them. I am glad I did not commit early because I probably never would have gotten this offer. I like the coaches and I like USC, so I get to visit out there and see the best of both worlds."

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 4:00 PM

Phil - What's the take on Tim Patterson from the Louisville side? Do they think he will be eligible? I know UK doesn't think he will make it.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 4:01 PM

Or I should say, there is speculation that he won't make it.

Phil on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 4:10 PM

Our answer: walking on sunshine....woooooooooooah oooh yeah

stew on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 1:01 AM

Phil, good question! So good in fact, that I spent almost an hour contemplating it, before finally looking up state capitals. I came up with 2 on my own (Boston and Atlanta) and missed Phoenix and Denver. Also I believe St. Paul qualifies too (as it and Minneapolis are pretty much the same place-that one could be open to argument) but they do have the Vikings, TWolves, Wild and Twins.
That was a tough question as most of the cities you would think of that have all 4 pro sports teams are not state capitals.

Bigworm on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 8:28 AM

So Louisville fans. What do you all think of Billy Donovan being the basketball coach there?

Bigworm on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 8:37 AM

Louisville fans talk in we too.

On a message board in a thread titled "WHICH IS IT? DO WE HAVE NO TALENT? OR DOES RP SUCK?" contains the following statement.

My vote is that RP has done a good job coaching the 9 years he has been here. The problem is that WE have not done a good job recruiting.

What's up with that? Maybe you homos are just fair weather fans?

Bigworm on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 8:38 AM

And if you ever want to know the answer to: whatever happened to Tee Martin?

Answer: QB coach at UK.

stew on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 9:17 AM

I think Billy Donovan would be a great replacement for RP whenever he decides to step down. I think a lot of fans (particularly on certain message boards) rush to panic mode way to quickly and you have a lot of morons that call for Ricks head after 5 losses. However, I'm starting to think that the writing is on the wall. I really thought that he would have won 1 or maybe 2 NC's over the course of almost 10 years here. I do think that the recruiting is a large part of that. Not to say that he's done poorly at it because that would be a lie, but investing all the time and effort into the Telfairs and Benders and Caracters, instead of going after players like Rondo (who I will always consider the one that got away). Imagine if Pitino had recruited Rondo to U of L...I'm pretty sure they would have another NC banner at freedom hall. I just watch the team this year, and they just don't have heart. It disturbs me that it just seems like the coach doesn't either. Maybe it's the stuff in his personal life, but I just don't see the intensity he used to have. All these close losses are killing me. Maybe it is time for a change, especially with Calipari just down the road I see us taking a back seat in local recruiting. Maybe Donovan would be the cure.

douglas on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 9:39 AM

i know donovan would be the first choice, but that dude's lost his mojo. he had that joakim noah class that just gelled and everything clicked, but none of those guys were top recruits, he kind of hit the jackpot. and all his top recruits since then have left (jai lucas and that white boy that went to play in greece) for whatever reasons. a couple seasons in the NIT, and this year they'll probably get an at-large bid, but it'll be a lower seed and tough to make the sweet 16. he should've struck when the iron was hot and gone to UK and/or the NBA, but he didn't, now it's not as hot anymore. he's lost patterson to UK to gillispie, and he whiffed on bledsoe and wall as well to calipari. i don't see him beating UK for recruits at UL.

Bigworm on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 9:57 AM

Phil on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:01 AM

i believe jay wright is the first choice if there was a reason to make a coaching change right now.

Bigworm on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:02 AM

Phil you are probably right. Feelers are out there though.

Phil on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:05 AM

there are also rumors that louisville is already paying donovan to stay at UF so who knows.

I do know Jurich and the board want Jay Wright, but the big rumor is that Pitino made a deal to stay at Louisville as long as Donovan gets brought in with the assumption that Richard is the heir apparent after that. I've heard that from multiple sources in the media.

Bigworm on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:07 AM

Yep. It is very interesting to say the least.

Brent on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:10 AM

Phil, can you reword that, Im a little confused, so Billy Donovan has a job waiting for him at UofL?

Bigworm on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:12 AM

Phil is saying that the rumor is Billy D to UofL IF Richard gets the UF job.

Phil on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:18 AM

That's the rumor.

When the Karen Sypher thing happened Pitino offered to resign IF they gave the job to his son. The board didn't want to give the job to Richard because he's never done anything not in his daddy's shadow. So he made the deal that he'll coach for 2-5 years more, and Richard goes to florida as an assistant under Donovan to get more experience.

Then they bring in Donovan once Pitino retires. 5 years of that and then the job will be Richard's when he's about 40.

This rumor was even in the LEO back in October

UL fans just want an explanation for no kuric playing time, why doesn't jennings and samuels get a shot together and so forth.

Bigworm on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 3:57 PM

who knows at this point?

douglas on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 4:00 PM

is siva getting more PT yet?

joe on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 4:03 PM

Siva gets yanked at the smallest mistake. He gets no chance to play through a mistake. Wiegandt school of coaching, make your players play tight out of fear to make a mistake. always a good style of coaching.

Bigworm on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 4:04 PM

This is too good to pass up. Really it is. Best $262 spent ever.

It is so painful knowing that this should be in HD if it weren't for WHAS being fucktards

joe on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 12:36 PM

Pitino looks like death so he told WHAS to never show him in HD

joe on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 12:50 PM

Swopshire for Jennings is ridiculous drop off in talent

Phil on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 12:51 PM

swopshire for jennings is the basketball equivalent of flipping between this game for the hockey game in terms of quality of broadcast

joe on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 12:53 PM

It was funny when I flipped to hockey and the Flyers reaction to Sid the klid getting called for a penalty. Sosa has had only 1 quality last second shot in his career. That 3 he just chucked up there was ill advised

Phil on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 12:57 PM

jesus this game is ugly.

joe on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 12:59 PM

Everything about UL since September has been ugly

http://mls.moorelouisvillehomes.com/mls_detail.asp

Phil on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 3:24 PM

a house two doors down sold for $220,000 last year. My guess is someone bought that house at a high value, dropped $120,000 in renovations in it like a moron and is now trying to get all their money back.

Only thing I could think of. I should offer them $220,000

joe on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 3:36 PM

I really don't like the Colts

Phil on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 4:23 PM

because i'm a good employee i came into work to get some stuff done before my hockey game.

The NFL gamecenter is actually pretty serviceable. They even show highlights of the big plays a few minutes after they happen which is nice.

Cheryl on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 5:11 PM

We looked at that expensive house when we were house hunting. It was totally gutted and everything was re-done and they expanded the back and upstairs. It is really nice but I don't see how they will ever get their money. Apparently, the same people bought the house next to it a while before and made good money and thought they could do it there too.

joe on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 5:20 PM

joe on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:12 AM

Opeation Sabatoge Operation Bikini (Operation S.O.B.) was a success today. I brought in Hostess Donettes and I took the few I wanted and the 2 girls next to me knocked out the rest except for 1 by 10:00. They felt guilty eating the last donut. The guy on the other side of the 2 girls broguht in giant chocolate chocolate chip muffins on Friday and he ate 1 and put the other 3 right by them and they magically disappeared quickly. This is a sad way to make work interesting.

Bigworm on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:17 AM

Joe - Those are small victories for sure.

douglas on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:22 AM

so you literally have a plan to make the women in your office fat? not sure if that's commendable or stupid. it's definitely funny, but at the end of the operation, you're stuck looking at ugly girls

Bigworm on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:26 AM

I don't think Joe ever commented on if they were pretty or not? I could be wrong.

So what is the difference between fat and ugly and skinny and ugly? Atleast if she is fat and ugly there are no "what ifs" to play.

douglas on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:32 AM

you can always play the what if game. the options just go from 'do i need to drink first in order to hit that?' to 'how much do i need to drink to hit that?'

Brent on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:38 AM

Alright Phil, so Im catching flak for the question about Boston being included due to the NE Patriots play in Foxboro.

Brent on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:42 AM

Joe, everybody is cracking up about Operation S.O.B.---masterfully named and executed.

joe on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:49 AM

to play it safe I will say one goes to the gym at lunch to work off the donuts and listening to her complain about going to the gym following eating donuts is priceless. The other is a divorced mother with a 10 and 8 year old at the age of 30 and you would not guess it based on appearance. Our theory is that she doesn't have the time or energy to eat outside of work.

Phil on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 11:03 AM

hmmm, good point. Maybe Boston should be off the list. If that counts surely St. Paul would count. I thought Foxboro was closer.

douglas on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 11:11 AM

to what trivia question are you referring?

Phil on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 11:12 AM

I came up with a trivia question, but it has questionable answers.

What capital cities have all 4 major sport teams. There is debate on whether there are 3, 4 or 5 cities that fit the bill.

Phil on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 11:15 AM

The Vikings radio announcers didn't take the interception lightly

This is not detroit...THIS IS THE SUPERBOWL
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...25/FavreINT.mp3

Brent on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 12:27 PM

He was making the argument for St. Paul, using Scottsdale as an example...I held my ground, stating St. Paul is the capital and its own city, whereas Scottsdale is just a huge suburb, now if Scottsdale was the capital then it would be its own city, same as St. Matthews or Prospect is still Louisville.

Phil on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 12:43 PM

not to mention that coyotes play in Glendale. I also think the Wild play in St. Paul.

It does make the trivia question trickier though. I assume both Denver and Atlanta aren't an issue.

On Westport Road where the road banks right by my house, there were already 4 cars in the ditch and another two destined to join them at 7 am. This guy was in a Chrysler 300 and everytime you'd see his brake lights go off he'd try to give it some gas and the thing would just slide sideways. It was inevitable as to where he was ending up but give him major points for fighting it.

When I bake the meatloaf tonight all the bacon juices will sink into the meatloaf. My culinary ingenuity is distracting me from my work prowess. I just want some fucking meatloaf and cornbread. Bacon makes everything better.

Joe - I might have to see about getting you a Team Awesome membership card.

douglas on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 3:27 PM

that's a bunch of bullshit about making you take time off

joe on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 4:04 PM

Local show is doing a fake pregame show for UK and opened it up wiht Karate Kid song, "because they're the best, around!"

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 4:05 PM

Oh that's great.

joe on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 4:10 PM

Playing the Obama bit now. Radio pointed out they didn't pick the most articulate players on the team to speak to the president, but the big 3. Wall, Cousins and Patterson spoke. Cousins sounded like an idiot.

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 4:14 PM

Cousins isn't that bad, I think he is pretty funny in some of the youtube videos I found. With that being said, we didn't give him a full ride because he scored a 36 on the ACT or anything.

joe on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 4:21 PM

YOu don't have to be a genius to not sound like an idiot.

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 4:24 PM

Good point.

douglas on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 4:27 PM

at least UK's idiots didn't need a teleprompter, haha

douglas on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 4:30 PM

i haven't heard the call yet, they just played the intro w/ cal on the radio, why did cousins sound like an idiot?

Phil on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 4:30 PM

you actually think cousin's could read what was on that teleprompter?

douglas on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 4:33 PM

depends on what was on it i suppose. of course if he didn't like what was on it he could always just elbow it

joe on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 9:22 PM

Cousins needs to put his elbows away. That was a clean jump ball. Aggressive and stupid are 2 different things.

Douglas - when is the next GOP meeting?

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 11:22 PM

So did a non-freshman ever score in the 2nd half for UK?

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 11:28 PM

The sad thing is, if UK doesn't win the championship it won't be because of the freshman....and that is sad.

Phil on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 11:30 PM

no nonfreshman scored.

I'll give a prediction on Douglas' post, and I agree with him: "This is a good loss for Kentucky. Downey couldn't miss and it took the pressure of a group of freshmen to go undefeated. This is a good loss to take at this point in the season because if they got deeper in the season they'd be more uptight in close games due to the undefeated aspect - now they can just get out there and play basketball."

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 11:34 PM

Spot on Philco.

It wasn't Downey not missing, he missed plenty as I think one point he was 6-29 from the field. It was our inability to rebound, as we gave up 20 OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS. Seriously.

I didn't see the game, but I heard we pretty much got ZERO from Patterson and Miller.

Bigworm on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 11:55 PM

I bet Adrian broke his remote.

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 12:07 AM

Whenever Adrian got his LCD tv, he called customer service and ordered a second remote. The CS girl apparently made a comment like you just bought your TV and you already broke your remote? To which he responded with well no, but I am a UK fan and basketball season just started so it's only a matter of time.

Phil on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 12:09 AM

that's surprising. adrian always struck us as the levelest headed of all of us

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 12:13 AM

It's really a site to see. You will never see Adrian get so pissed off other than watching a UK basketball game. He gets all red in the face, becomes cynical, and will finally throw his remote after several times of acting like he throws it.

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 12:14 AM

Me, I use to watch the games with a stressball until the wife took it away. I use to throw that fucker as hard as I could against the wall over top of the TV. I had to quit that when AJ got here.

Phil on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 1:46 AM

i wrote lol. i am drunk.

the deadspin mailbag is also good. the poop chicken story was especially good (Reprinted for those who can't access deadspin at work):

Jason: "When I was working at my old office job and any time I'm in a public stall and someone is sitting directly next to me (which I fucking hate) I play a game of "poop chicken" with the person(s) sitting next to me. I've won some of the longest battles (30-45+ mins) sitting there, waiting for the guy next to me to get up and leave. The biggest reason for this is the fact that I hate wiping with someone in the stall next to me (I'm a stand up wiper). However, I brought up "poop chicken" during a work meeting last week with some co-workers at my new job (sales job, so we don't use the same bathrooms) and they looked at me like I was crazy. Does anyone else play "poop chicken" or was it just people trying to waste as much time as possible so they wouldn't have to really work… or am I just weird as fuck?"

-------------------

I think waiting someone out half an hour is taking things to extremes, but I do understand the theory of poop chicken. Imagine walking into your office bathroom and it's empty. Clear. You have it all to yourself. That's just a fucking great feeling. You go down to enjoy a quiet shit all by yourself. THEN SOME ASSHOLE COMES AND BARGES IN. The gall!

Sometimes, you figure the guy will come in, piss, and then go, and you'll be back to heaven in short order. But no, sometimes the other guy will come in and just fucking camp out. And you have decide if you feel like waiting him out or cutting and running. This is a sensitive issue if you happen to be using the stall for things other than shitting, like changing pants, or fighting with your girlfriend on the phone, or tossing one out. Because you're always scared that this intruder is carefully monitoring what YOU are doing with yourself in that stall. And that freaks you the fuck out. And sometimes, the guy in the nearby stall sits down and literally makes NO sounds. No poop grunts. No preflushing. No clear sounds that announce his intentions. That is harrowing. If I'm shitting and another dude walks in and isn't making any discernible urination or defecation sounds, I always assume he's an assassin sent to kill me. I KNEW TOO MUCH.

The flipside: Ever hear an odd sound come from another stall? Like, you hear a grunt, only it's clearly not a poop grunt? And then you assume the guy in the next stall is jacking it? That's a terrible feeling.

I guess what I'm saying to Jason here is… SIT TO WIPE.

joe on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 8:04 AM

fantastic

joe on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 8:11 AM

Phil, I saw Steph yesterday out around lunch time. She said last night that she thought a girl I was with was hot. She is one of the O.S.O.B. girls. The divorced single mother of 2. We are now mentally torturing her with lesbian references the other guy mixed in a is this why you are divorced. She brought the fury to the krispy kreme donuts the other guy brought in with this terrified I am not a lesbian look.

Am I evil?

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 8:14 AM

Joe, the sheer amount of mental torture you are delivering to these women is amazing. The force is strong in you I sense.

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 8:15 AM

Oh and the running joke I saw on the UK board yesterday (pre-game) was that UK was destined to lose because Obama called Cal to congratulate them on the Haiti telethon. The guy made a comment that whenever Obama gets behind something, it is destined to fail.

douglas on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 8:21 AM

I agree with your post last night phil, but beyond that, UK just fucking sucked. I really didn't have a good feeling about this game. I won't necessarily blame obama specifically, but the 'distraction' as a whole definitely had something to do with it. and they just needed a wake up call, i never once thought they'd go undefeated. south carolina didn't even shoot 40%, devan downey went 9-28 or something ridiculous from the floor, and have of those 9 he made were fucking circus shots. south carolina's not a great team at all, UK just played with a stick up their ass, they played not to lose, patterson and miller totally fucking disappeared, i hope someone's found them by now. i can think of 4 or 5 easy layups / dunks they missed off the top of my head, they make one or two of those, it's a different game, b/c they all seemed to come on important possessions, definitely could've changed momentum.

douglas on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 8:24 AM

i feel sorry for vandy this weekend, and really probably the rest of the SEC, we'll see how they respond, but after their embarrassment of a game last night, i'm guessing they'll respond appropriately

douglas on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 8:47 AM

this is interesting, cousins and wall's average numbers over the past five games

Cousins: 17.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1 assist, 57% (31-for-54) FG, 1.4 steals, 2 blocks, 1.8 turnovers

Wall: 16.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 40% (26-for-65) FG, 1.2 steals, .6 blocks, 3.6 turnovers

joe on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 9:05 AM

I watched the fist half last night and Cousins numbers were good, but he forced a lot of shots and it seemed that for every 1 he made 2 were blocked.

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 9:07 AM

I didn't watch but the last 6 minutes of game time last night. Some guy posted that he re-watched the game and that UK missed 19 shots that would be considered lay-ups???? 19? Really?

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 9:08 AM

I did watch Dodson steal one from Downey and completely missed a wide open dunk/layup which would have tied the game at 53s I think?

douglas on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 9:14 AM

the dodson one hurt bad, wide open, just went up too soon to dunk and i think decided to change his mind up in the air to lay it in and fucked the whole thing up. kept all the momentum with s carolina, who went back and scored on their next possession. bledsoe did the same thing a few posessions before that one. i don't know if it was 19, but it was a lot. and you are right about cousins, he was trying to do too much at times. there were so many things wrong with the way they played last night, and they got sc's best game of the year, and they still had a chance to win in the last minute. it's a cliche, but UK beat themselves

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 9:37 AM

UK lost this one by not being able to keep Downey out of the lane. No way should any team give up 20 offensive rebounds in a single game.

douglas on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 9:45 AM

that's right, and there are 20 other reasons they lost, they just sucked last night. i'm not exactly going to start sounding off the alarms though. i thought they would've lost a long time ago, how they respond will be the key

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 9:49 AM

Yeah, I agree. Lots of people need to look in the mirror.

joe on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 9:58 AM

douglas on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 10:06 AM

if by not doing my part, you're right, i didnt cheer that hard, so i might have contributed in some small way to the loss, but i don't apologize. we got what we deserved

joe on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 10:07 AM

I spoke with my sources and they said they specifically saw J_hn W_ll shed a tear today at breakfast saying he is upset for letting Bigworm and Douglas down and that he will win one for us. By us he meant J_hn W_ll, Bigworm and Douglas.

Jerome on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 10:10 AM

Does this mean that there's gonna be a new J_hn W_ll dance?

douglas on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 10:13 AM

that is very gracious of John Wall, although he did not let us down, he was merely exposing his vulnerabilities to make us all feel better about ourselves. by allowing us to see some weakness on his part, it makes us all realize we can work on ourselves and become better people. He is a most gracious being.

douglas on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 10:16 AM

and the only time you'll see a new John Wall dance will be when he's wearing a ring

10. Stephenson defensive tackle Mike Thornton told me last night he has decided not to travel to Los Angeles this weekend for a USC official visit. Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 2:53 PM

sushi is can be expensive, so I think you'll be ok. now taking a histpanic girl to taco bell....

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 3:07 PM

Hispanic women. I think they'd find it romantic for you to bring the ingredients with yo uand have them cook for you. Or maybe that is Italian women. Who knows?

joe on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 3:07 PM

I was going to ask Cuban's take on it. I immediately went to taking a hispanic girl to El Tarasco or something like that in my head.

ESPN radio reporting that a WLTX TV personality is reporting Demarcus Cousins punched a South Carolina fan twice and UK staff reprimanded him. There is no video and it is hearsay...allegedly.

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 3:31 PM

I love him even more now. He is just like Magloire but much better offensively.

Phil on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 3:32 PM

should be a non-issue. When video surfaced of the memphis player smacking the shit out of a UAB fan in the stands he wasn't suspended. This will go away.

joe on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 3:33 PM

only concern is the oregon football player causing this to be an issue. But that video was clear as can be.

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 3:37 PM

yeah and even when he was restrained he went after the fans. completely different.

joe on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 3:39 PM

How is this different then Cousins going after a fan?

Phil on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 3:45 PM

the interview with the fan:
http://1075thegame.com/FlashPlayer/...23719&nID=4

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 3:47 PM

did he go after the fan after he was restrained? If so, whoever restrained cousins needs an offer for a full-ride right now to UK basketball because he is a bad man.

Phil on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 3:49 PM

no, after he threw his two punches a trainer pulled him away

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 3:50 PM

just listened to the caller. Completely different because Blount tried to go after the fan in the stands and in this situation the fans rushed the court. Shit happens.

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 3:52 PM

Shit - maybe this is what we need so he doesn't get to go to the NBA this year. I hope they tell him he needs to grow up and points to this instance because I'd love to have him for 1 more year.

joe on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 4:08 PM

I never said it was the same. My point of bringing up the oregon player is because a person was punched (not a fan) and fans did get involved. I could see if something comes up the Oregon player being used as a measuring stick and with this being recent history the NCAA being pretty strict with there being a history of recent player violence. Not sayign they will or should, but if something comes up the first thing the media will turn to is the last incident of someone being punched and fans being gone after.

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 4:13 PM

The other thing is no cameras caught it. I don't even think the NCAA suspended the oregon player, it was oregon that kicked him off the team.

Phil on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 4:14 PM

yeah, I was I said - oregon suspended the kid. No way does UK or Cal do anything.

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 4:17 PM

Oregon suspended the kid because he embarassed the university on national TV, they had to do something.

No blood no foul - no camera no issue.

joe on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 4:20 PM

I believe it is like schools reprimanding themselves before the NCAA can. Had the university not done anything the NCAA would have stepped in, or had the NCAA not felt the university handled it properly they step in. It is like schools doing their own violation control, if the NCAA feels the schools own punishment is adequate they don't do anything.

joe on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 4:21 PM

I'm not saying he should be suspended, but if a video does come up like some random cell phone video then I could see it being taken very serious because of the Oregon scenario. If it does come up and UK ignores it then the NCAA or SEC may have to step in.

douglas on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 4:22 PM

i can't listen to the call at work, but no way i believe that in its entirety. exchanging words and that sort of thing, sure, but w/o more evidence than one fan talking shit, i put no stock in it. and w/o video evidence, no way UK does anything, nor the NCAA

Phil on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 4:25 PM

Douglas - what was happening is from the radio broadcaster for USC saw the punches being thrown and talked to the kid after the game. They were talking about it on the morning show, and the kid called in.

Many people also saw the punches thrown, and there were reports of Cousins yelling and screaming at the fans on the way to the locker room from Forde and some in the SC media. I think this is pretty clear cut what happened.

douglas on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 4:26 PM

i think it's a conspiracy. even still, i kinda hope it's true, keeps him around another year. there's a whole 'nother side of swopshire's face that hasn't felt the wrath of a boogie forearm

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 4:26 PM

Well the fan did admit that he lowered his head to storm the court, ran right into cousins and fell down, which means he was moving with enough force that when it suddenly came to a stop that same force was exerted on him to knock him down.
In other words, the big man was pissed some fan wasn't watching where he was going. I think that is a New York howdy.

Phil on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 4:28 PM

no way cousins stays around for a year. No one has seen him in class for months.

Bigworm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 4:35 PM

douglas on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 4:35 PM

oh i know, wishful thinking on my part. UK's in good with 3 of this year's top 5 recruits still, so they'll just reload, I'm not too worried about it. same for the class of 2011

joe on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 6:07 PM

Bigworm on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 12:29 AM

And apparently that's not even Cousins in the video, it's actually Patterson..atleast according to people who think they can make out the shitty images.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 8:06 AM

So if anybody is listening to the radio this morning and you hear about a wreck on I-71 southbound, that was me. God is looking at for me because I do not know how a) I did not hit another car b) I did not roll off the expressway and c) another car hit me.

So I am driving down I-71 and I am at the point where I-71 and I-264 are merging, all is going well and I am in the middle lane (as the far right lane has not ended yet) when the car directly infront of me stops hard. I am driving at about 60 mph, hit my brakes, realize there is no way I am going to stop before I hit the car infront of me at about 60 mph so I swerve to the right. The other imortant piece of information is that I just had my brakes changed about 2 months ago so those fuckers are still grabbing at every light tap on the brake. So when I swerve to the right into the merging lane and hit my brakes, I get the out of control wobble and then my car's ass end swings around so I am sliding sideways down I-71. Here is the weird part, I could feel the force of the car like it was trying to roll and I have no clue how it didn't but I am desperately turning my wheel the opposite way to try to get my car straight and facing the right direction. Well being a front wheel drive car I oversteer and am now sliding on the other side and back in my original lane (thank God, the cars infront of me didn't have to come to a standstill). I can hear my tires screaching like a banchee screaming into the night, steer the opposite direction, my car oversteers and slides again. This time I see a car shoot by me in the merging lane missing me by about a foot but the other traffic behind me managed to swerve or slow down enough and come to a stop. My car finally comes to rest with my ass end partly in the left lane, the rest of my car in the right lane and I am sitting sideways. The amazing thing is, I didn't hear a single crash sound, nobody hit me, I didn't hit anybody so I just kicked it in reverse, straightened up, slowed down for the two cars that stopped to make sure I was okay, waved them on and got back on my way.

Talk about a way to start the morning.

Cousins does something, who knows what the hell it is. The problem is you can't tell becaues you have to look at about the 5 second mark in the upper right hand corner.

UK fans, per dan patrick show. Don't forget to commemorate the week of UK basketball greatness with the "Back on Top #1 ranking" t-shirt available at the UK Team Shop.

This is not a joke, t-shirts were made. However, at last check by the Danettes, the T-shirts have not gone on sale since the loss. They are still listed at full price.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 10:25 AM

oh yeah Joe, someone made reference to the shirts being made. If that isn't locker room material I don't know what is.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 10:28 AM

You know what though, even if it is short lived...much better than going to the NIT like last year.

Bigworm on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 10:28 AM

Whenever, I start nitpicking about being in the top 10, yeah i can handle that.

joe on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 11:19 AM

In regards to the question of taking an asian girl for sushi or hispanic girl to El Tarasco, the girl in the cube next to me responded today after hearing it the first time with something along the lines of:

So its like taking me to KFC. there is nothing wrong with KFC.

Everyone just about lost it. I may have indirectly started a race war in our office.

Issued by The National Weather Service
Louisville, KY
4:52 am EST, Thu., Jan. 28, 2010

... WINTER STORM MAY AFFECT AREA FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY...

A MAJOR STORM SYSTEM WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE GULF STATES TONIGHT... BRINGING THE POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS TO THE AREA BEGINNING LATE FRIDAY MORNING AND LASTING INTO SATURDAY MORNING.

BY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING... LIGHT SNOW WILL EXTEND WELL NORTH OF THE SURFACE LOW OVER THE GULF STATES. WIDESPREAD LIGHT SNOW WILL PUSH FARTHER NORTH INTO THE LOUISVILLE AND FRANKFORT METRO AREAS BY THE LATE MORNING HOURS.

THE TRACK OF THE SYSTEM IS STILL NOT CLEAR CUT. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT A SLIGHT SHIFT IN THE TRACK OF THIS STORM SYSTEM WILL GREATLY DETERMINE RESULTING SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS. A MORE SOUTHERN TRACK WOULD YIELD LESSER SNOWFALL TOTALS FOR EXAMPLE. A MORE NORTHERN TRACK WILL BRING HEAVIER SNOWFALL AMOUNTS. AS OF NOW... AREAS ALONG THE INTERSTATE 64 CORRIDOR ARE FORECAST TO RECEIVE 1 TO 3 INCHES OF SNOW... POTENTIALLY CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH THE FRIDAY AFTERNOON COMMUTE.

STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES ON THIS SYSTEM. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MAY BE ISSUED FOR NORTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY AND THE NORTHERN BLUEGRASS AREA EITHER LATER THIS AFTERNOON OR TONIGHT.

Papa John's has a $10 special right now for a large pizza, any crust, any toppings (up to 7). I just ordered mine with sausage, pepperoni, italian sausage, and green peppers. Man that is going to be good. I figure I can eat part of it today and part of it tomorrow and for $5.30 a day, not bad.

jesus, 7 toppings? That's a hell of a deal. Nothing like a near death experience to get the pizza ordering started.
