Fixing the CJ

Ok, so the new CJ website sucks cock by choice. Here's how I fixed it in Firefox

Step 1: Install AdBlock Plus. This will help tremendously with popups and other crap

Step 2: Install Stylish. This will let us use a custom style to make it look much, much better

Step 3: Use this custom style. Go to Tools, to Add-Ons and choose User Styles. Click Write New Style. Typing in a name like CJ Sucks Balls and paste this in as the style:

 @-moz-document domain("courier-journal.com") {
 .gel-pane+.gel-hidden {
    display: block !important;
    visibility: visible !important;
 }
 .article-pagination {display:none !important;}
 .page-number {display:none !important;}
.ody-skin {font:small/1 Calibri,Arial,sans-serif !important;}
 #odyArtVideoThumb{display:none !important;;}
 #sharelinks{display:none !important;}
  .ody-article .ody-asset-breakout {width:125px !important;}
#GPage1{margin-top:15px !important;}
#article-bodytext .ody-byline {margin-top:15px !important;}
}

This does a few things. It gets rid of the huge related video section. It removes the paging for articles. I reduces the size of the pullouts so they don't jack everything up. It uses a better font. And it removes the "share on facebook" bullshit.

A work in progress but I aim to make that site usable if it kills me. Next up - making the top of the site green like god intended.

Here are the results. Home Page, Article

I use chrome at work so I'll try and duplicate this for it. Stylish exists for Chrome so it should be pretty simple. The adblock takes care of the ads and the stylish does the clean up

Brent, how'd you do on the bets?

Because I had no bodog I acted like the bookie at my family's super bowl party. Nothing like stealing money from your mom because she makes bets like "I bet the MVP will be black and they always thank God" and "Is fergie a rapper? I bet she wears something slutty. I'll take the thong"

Phil on Monday, February 07, 2011 at 4:18 PM

I went back and watched the NFL / TV commercial which was my favorite and paused it on the Simpsons one. That was awesome.

Moe rocking the Michael Vick jersey cracked me up, and I like apu in the bengals jersey and the bullies in the Raiders gear.

But the best has to be Ralph rocking the Seahawks jersey.

I lost about $12 but definitely made it more fun to watch...personally I think I should have got the "Thank you from the Superbowl MVP." I bet Teammates and he said, "I have to give credit to our defense." I guess credit is not a thank you though.

Phil on Monday, February 07, 2011 at 6:35 PM

As official bookie of my super bowl party I declared giving credit to the defense as thanking teammates.

So I've been in love with the Zoe from How I Met Your Mother since she was on House. I mean, I have excellent taste.

So I decided to stalk her. Now, when I was a younger man I collected all the Sports Illustrated for Kids I could. Put them in a plastic cover and everything. Eventually I for some reason stopped collecting them - almost feeling like I had reached the pinnacle of SI for Kids.

The last issue I collected? This one: http://cache1.asset-cache.net/xc/92...55B4C5D53B35A03

The girl on the right? That would be Jennifer Morrison aka Zoe from How I Met Your Mother. Now, I'm not saying that God is telling me to stalk her....but I think it is safe to assume I probably should go ahead and do it just in case.

Trinity in mention a team that could compete to be the #1 HS Team in the Nation
http://highschool.rivals.com/conten...asp?CID=1186682

Louisville (Ky.) Trinity
Last year: 15-1, No. 67 in RivalsHigh 100. Won Kentucky Class 6A Title.
Full Steam Ahead: The Shamrocks were a very young team in 2010 - having just six seniors on the roster - and they still cruised to a state title. This year, the team will be a year older and plenty more experienced. The offensive line is big and physical, led by 6-3, 275-pound John Michael Heile. The true strength of the team is one of the most talented groups of 2013 players. With quarterback Travis Wright, wide receiver James Quick, running back Dalyn Dawkins, and defenders Ryan White and Jason Hatcher, it is expected this team will be bringing home two more state titles in the next two years.
Pump the Brakes: The young Rocks were not able to down a 7-5 Cincinnati ( Ohio ) St. Xavier team last year and that brings instant questions to toughness and ability to claim major out-of-state wins. The Shamrocks have not released the schedule but rumors of plenty of out-of-state games have circulated - that would be good news as dominating Kentucky has its limits. Much of the offense will revolve around getting the ball into the hands of Quick and the team will need to develop another receiving option to open the field.

Album Cover Game
‎1 - Go to Wikipedia and hit random. The first random article you get is the name of your band. Here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random

2 - Go to quotationspage.com and hit random. The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album. Link: http://quotationspage.com/random.php3

3 - Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”. Third picture no matter what it is, will be your album cover. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/

[Note: flickr runs the same pictures all day, if you get one that's already been used or one you can't download Reload the page until you do.]

Phil on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 2:24 PM

I was not involved in the renting of the van

Brock on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 2:32 PM

They are pretty expensive to rent, but with how many people they hold, it usually saves to get them.

Phil on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 3:48 PM

I figure gas for three cars to get down there would run $100 for my car, so three cars total would be $600 in gas alone. I figure parking will run $25 per day per vehicle, so that'd be another $225.

So we would be looking at $825 in total transport fees in three cars vs probably $250 in a van

While on furlough, federal employees won't receive a paycheck, nor would government contractors. Federal employees will eventually receive back pay, but contractors won't be so lucky.

The longer the shutdown goes on, the trickier it gets for agencies to define "essential personnel."

During the last long-term shutdown, the Social Security Administration kept enough staff in place to ensure benefits were paid out, but new claims weren't being processed. As the shutdown wore on, the agency recalled workers to start processing new claims.

douglas on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 8:02 AM

i can't disagree, but i'll tell you what i have to keep telling myself, there are four players not on this team that were "supposed" to be, bledsoe, orton, dodson, and kanter. If we had just one of these guys we're talking about a different season. The other thing i have to keep telling myself is that they're a different team at home and neutral sites, so hopefully in a tournament setting they won't suck as bad as they do at home. and we all know UK fans travel better than anyone, so any neutral court will be filled mostly with blue, so we have that going for us. these theories are how i sleep at night

Brock on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 2:18 PM

bad news joe, saw this article and it says you might not be lucky enough to get a paid vacation:

The air traffic control system, food inspection, Medicare, veterans' health care and many other essential government programs would run as usual. The Social Security Administration would not only send out benefits but would continue to take applications. The Postal Service, which is self-funded, would keep delivering the mail. Federal courts would remain open.

Phil on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 1:59 PM

We stayed at the Best Western. It was sufficient to the purpose. The Barronne was better, but Brent got us a pretty good deal and I think it was an easier walk than what I remember from the Barronne. I at least felt safer for some reason going to the Best Western, but that might have had to deal with the fact so many people and cops were on Canal St because of Mardi Gras.

You know, if he wasn't out earlier in the season I'm pretty sure Louisville fans would have already be screaming the sky is falling. But for some reason there is a calm about it that seems a bit odd. He never started looking comfortable.

I think if Louisville was gonna do anything in the Big East tournament or make the sweet sixteen they would need his rebounding though. I was hoping he'd get into the groove by then

anyone hear about the BYU player getting kicked off the team for violating the schools code of conduct or something by getting caught having sex with his girlfriend? Odd school, strange rule.

douglas on Thursday, March 03, 2011 at 9:25 AM

BYU's always been like that, what you sign up for when you go to a religious institution. ironically, those rules are probably why jimmer's so damn good, all that built up sexual energy with no place to go, so he's probably a real 'gym rat' to burn it off

douglas on Thursday, March 03, 2011 at 9:26 AM

the rumor is also he apparently knocked his girlfriend up, which is probably part of the reason they suspended him, because they knew they wouldn't be able to cover it up and catch hell later on for not dismissing him for breaking the code

Wrecking Crew on Thursday, March 03, 2011 at 1:21 PM

http://www.yardbarker.com/jump/2m

BYU code of conduct

basicly boils down to this...

Be honest
Live a chaste and virtuous life
Obey the law and all campus policies
Use clean language
Respect others
Abstain from alcoholic beverages, tobacco, tea, coffee, and substance abuse
Participate regularly in church services
Observe the Dress and Grooming Standards
Encourage others in their commitment to comply with the Honor Code

Also has a dress code. Clothing is inappropriate when it is sleeveless, revealing, or form fitting. Shorts must be knee-length or longer.Shoes should be worn in all public campus areas.

So my roofing company told me I need a new roof. They came to replace some missing shingles and in the mail i received an estimate for a new roof citing wind damage with all this other stuff that made no sense to me. First sign of a problem is when I have a roofing company already. I just called my insurance company and they aren't any help. They gave me another phone number to call for an adjuster. They want all these details and I have no real answers. My answer for everything was "i am not a roofer, my roofing company looked at it and said there is wind damage and it needs to be replace." They ask what wind and I say when that tornado that hit a short while ago. They say when was that?

Insurance is a pain.

Brent on Monday, March 07, 2011 at 12:43 PM

The adjuster will tell you if they will pay for a new roof. If they will, then you'll get the money, and then I would call another roofing company to get another rate.

douglas on Monday, March 07, 2011 at 1:26 PM

you need to look up the exact date(s) of the wind storm, because that's exactly what they'll look up. if you say it happened on the fifth of january, they'll look up the weather report that day in your area and if it was sunny, no money for you. a guy i work with is going through the exact same thing with roofers and insurance

Phil on Wednesday, March 09, 2011 at 4:41 PM

Looks like Rutgers tried the ol' Bryce Drew play there. That was just a complete failure by the refs. Should have been all kinds of calls there on St. Johns. Walk, out of bounds and a technical seems like a logical.

Wrecking Crew on Wednesday, March 09, 2011 at 4:44 PM

Rutgers got hosed on multiple occasions in those last few possessions. Blatant foul on the runner in the lane, over the back on the rebound, then the botched call to close the game when St. Johns went out of bounds before time expired. Good news. No Burr for the UC-USF game.

joe on Wednesday, March 09, 2011 at 5:59 PM

The Big East has released a one-paragraph statement acknowledging that two calls were missed - traveling and Brownlee stepping out of bounds. They say those calls are not reviewable under NCAA rules and the result will stand.

Phil on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 1:37 PM

wheels coming off for Miami I fear

Brent on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 1:40 PM

Why, what's going on?

Phil on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 1:44 PM

They were up big on UNC, and UNC is just picking away at them. Reggie Johnson for Miami getting his 4th hurt them.

joe on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 1:44 PM

who are bigger crooks, insurance companies or roofing companies?

Phil on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 1:47 PM

4 straight threes will get you back in a game quick

OSU and Northwestern in OT

joe on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 1:52 PM

both conferences still suck, but close games make it watchable.

Phil on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 2:08 PM

At least people are at these games. I think more people come to the d league playoffs than were at the SEC games last night

Joe is on a roll posting linked that are disabled.

joe on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 8:58 AM

Good night last night of Burket family basketball watching plus Phil and friends. I think my dad called hansborough a Nazi. Lots of beer and snacks were consumed. Same thing tonight, my mom is superstitious.

The link basically was kurics gf getting a pick with a nd player and her saying my bf is going to dunk on you again and him saying probably so.

Brent on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 9:54 AM

rephrase...last night was a Good night of basketball watching

Brent on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:20 AM

Awww, its funny where I put the commas, when I read peoples' posts, Im so used to people on FB saying, "Good night" to everyone.

Brent on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:40 AM

That should have been Ahhh

joe on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 11:13 AM

I didn't pull an all nighter going to bed at 9 am, but 3:30 was a late night. Easy mistake to read it that way.

At least he wasn't stupid if not to say probably not. You have to like ND players for being smart.

joe on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 3:02 PM

joe on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 3:12 PM

Unc is so damn lucky

Bigworm on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 3:13 PM

No, we don't have anybody else that can play.

joe on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 3:18 PM

Really, up that big you have that little faith that it cost 2 starters ankles?

douglas on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 3:30 PM

That's fine, I just feel like getting out of the house, I've been too domesticated the last couple weeks

Bigworm on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 9:58 PM

Yep.

Like Cal said, if they weren't pressing he would have subbed. That is his mentality. You keep playing, so will we.

The only thing I can say is next year we won't have this 6 man rotation problem.

Bigworm on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 12:41 AM

Marra blows it.

Best shooter I've seen in my life my ass.

joe on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 11:56 AM

joe on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 1:34 PM

douglas on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 1:45 PM

douglas on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 1:46 PM

adrian on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 2:19 PM

For the record we were not the four dudes.

Bigworm on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 3:33 PM

The last bracketology, updated today, has Kansas as the #1 seed, UNC the #2, UK #3, and UofL #4.

That is one crazy bracket.

The East bracket is insane.

Brock on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 7:09 PM

Someone explain how Florida is a 2 seed?

douglas on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 7:39 PM

That decision to make Florida a 2 and UK a 4 is being roundly criticized. Ul got a decent draw

Bigworm on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 11:04 PM

I think the committee took care of themselves to make money this year. They made sure certain teams got certain locales to make money.

For example, San Diego St. should have been a #1, but got the #2 so they play in Arizona, as opposed to Duke who got the #1 in the West but plays in NC. Floridia plays in Tampa, go figure.

Brent on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 12:14 AM

SDSU should have got the #1...yeah right. They played two ranked teams all year and lost to them twice.

Barry on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 1:19 AM

in other sports news that may only be interesting to the burkets, cuban, and douglas...LSU baseball lookin pretty good this year. Only one loss so far and swept Cal-State Fullerton over the weekend. they just gloss over basketball season down here.

Phil on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 2:18 AM
