Phil on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 4:08 PM

just for clarification, those are ours.

apparently the total order weighed in at about 880lbs

douglas on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 4:10 PM

joe on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 4:14 PM

Next Saturday I want to get roman candles, black cats, sparklers and maybe some cheap shells.

Phil on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 4:24 PM

i almost bought some snakes. Could have gotten 720 packs for $40

Brock on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 4:50 PM

Do we need to have an ambulance, or at minimum, a burn kit on hand?

adrian on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 6:26 PM

I heard my phone going off and I was pretty concerned someone had died. I should have assumed I was getting a text rundown of a jazz song at 1 in the morning.

I must say it was some damn impressive work on transcribing the lyrics.

joe on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 3:11 PM

I assumed you were drunk at a bar too.

Neighbor down the street that competes with us on fireworks is moving to new Hampshire. We have to give him a good farewell competition.

douglas on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 8:07 PM

Its really not much of a competition

joe on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 8:24 PM

We let him dream

joe on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 9:46 PM

So firework retrieval process is being executed tomorrow after work. My truck, douglas' van, pat's suv and phil's car. Should this be enough to get things to my house?

I still plan to spend a few bucks in Indiana Saturday afternoon. Anyone in with me?

Either tomorrow or Saturday i would like some help moving a couch and the ping pong table as well.

douglas on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 8:04 AM

Anybody got an iPod with decent music? My computer with all my music is dead and my neighbor is trying to fix it.

joe on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 7:25 PM

Got all my music on a portable hard drive. I think i an get this to work. My neighbor was clutch saving my computer. Who would've thought a 60+ year old women would be a computer genius. My video and network cards are fried from spilling beer on it.

joe on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 9:27 PM

Mayor Fischer on the firework ban:

He said people will surely leave Louisville to buy fireworks in neighboring counties or in Indiana.

“Our citizens will go there to buy them, and bring them home and use them,” he said. “And the police probably won’t write them a ticket.”

adrian on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 9:35 PM

Smart dude

douglas on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 9:28 AM

If he's comfortable helping indianas economy, then so am I

joe on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 5:42 PM

Leaders of the fireworks industry, which brought in nearly $1 billion in sales nationally in 2011, question whether firework bans are legal. Steve Graves, executive director of the Indiana Fireworks Association, said people should be given credit for common sense.

Indiana law allows fireworks from June 29 to July 9 regardless of whether local burn bans are in place. Some communities have declared drought disaster emergencies to enact bans in an attempt to get around the law.

"Instead of talking about safety, they decided to treat Hoosiers like they're a bunch of idiots that can't think for themselves," Graves said.

Brock on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 7:08 PM

Hoosiers ARE a bunch of idiots who can't think for themselves.

Phil on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 7:34 PM

I was talking with someone from Missouri and they literally call people that can't think for themselves "fuckin' hoosiers"

douglas on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:49 PM

But isn't the ban on Jefferson county

Brock on Sunday, July 01, 2012 at 12:08 AM

Does this mean a police raid on Wednesday has gone up exponentially?

joe on Sunday, July 01, 2012 at 6:32 AM

No burn ban yet. Everything we have has always been illegal. I just fear a burn ban would cause popo to actually enforce fireworks.

douglas on Sunday, July 01, 2012 at 8:32 AM

We just might need to have a special cop 12 pack available as hush money

joe on Sunday, July 01, 2012 at 2:04 PM

Mmmmmmm jello shots.

joe on Sunday, July 01, 2012 at 4:34 PM

douglas on Sunday, July 01, 2012 at 10:24 PM

What was our final count, like 144 pro shells, 24 500 gram repeaters, and like 46 200 gram ones? That one board only has 2 shells, 3 500s, and 5 200s. We gon have a good time

douglas on Sunday, July 01, 2012 at 10:26 PM

My grandmas bday party was tonight, and I had about four uncles ask me about the fireworks pic I put on Facebook. Two of them were genuinely scared for my life and started lecturing me about fireworks safety.

joe on Sunday, July 01, 2012 at 10:28 PM

10,000 gram finale

joe on Sunday, July 01, 2012 at 10:29 PM

The last board was clutch. Really tied it all together.

joe on Sunday, July 01, 2012 at 10:31 PM

All sparklers and smoke bombs

adrian on Sunday, July 01, 2012 at 10:32 PM

I am aware there will be enough firepower on Wednesday to invade Canada, but what was the food plan?

What items need to be brought to supplement the cheese ball and sausage queso?

adrian on Monday, July 02, 2012 at 11:36 AM

Ultimate goal is to invade Tuvalu and rename it Nattyland.

dadboner going off on the fourth:

Karl Welzein ‏@DadBoner
Can't believe we have to work today. And tomorrow. And THURSDAY?! Really steamed.

HOW? Are AMERICANS!? Expected to get blackout drunk on the 4th, THEN come to work the next day?! Someone should do somethin'. Maybe Barry O.

YOU CAN'T JUST HAVE THE BIGGEST HOLIDAY FOR THE USA IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK BY ITSELF!!! So disgusted. Wanna puke, you guys. How am I supposed to prepare for the 4th celebraish at WORK? I gotta buy cold ones, make my Bratato salad, do other stuff. So stressed.

What if NO ONE went to work on the 3rd & 5th? You pieces of trash. What're you gonna do? Fire the country for bein' respectful Americans!?

The 3rd is for preparin for war. The 4th is for drinkin & blowin up crap. 5th is for relaxin. Everyone forget what made this country great?

We get a crap load off at Christmas for somethin' everyone doesn't believe in. But ONE day for the USA? A celebraish for ALL? Ain't right. Know WHY no one does anything 'bout the workin' man havin' the 3rd & 5th off? 'Cause the rich honchos who run things already do, you guys.

So sick of this.

joe on Monday, July 02, 2012 at 6:33 PM

These burn bans are making me nervous.

joe on Monday, July 02, 2012 at 10:14 PM

Anyone have a sprinkler? Bring it Wednesday. During fireworks I am thinking we can have a sprinkler in every yard. I feel like that is a nice precaution if they try to shut us down.

joe on Monday, July 02, 2012 at 10:16 PM

I think a minimum of 4 sprinklers will make it look like we care and are being safe.

joe on Monday, July 02, 2012 at 10:28 PM

The hot, dry weather has prompted burn bans in Clark, Floyd, Oldham and Bullitt counties in Kentucky and Indiana. Jeffersonville enacted its own ban June 27, and the Clarksville Fire Department recommended a ban Monday night, said Fire Chief Tom Upton.

But the burn bans do not include fireworks, even though some firefighters wish they might.

Louisville Fire Marshall William Bowman strongly urged residents to refrain from using fireworks on their property. And, if they must use them, Bowman said people should keep a water hose or a bucket of water handy, in case something goes wrong.

joe on Monday, July 02, 2012 at 10:33 PM

Just opened the Slingshot and it seems small. Maybe it will stretch out. Says will travel 300 feet. definitely smaller then the other slingshots we have used.

douglas on Tuesday, July 03, 2012 at 7:43 AM

it looks like it's about to rain pretty good this morning, so i'm not too worried about the whole burn thing. if we have hoses and stuff out we'll be fine

Brock on Tuesday, July 03, 2012 at 1:58 PM

Wasn't there storms in Louisville over the weekend?

Phil on Tuesday, July 03, 2012 at 2:39 PM

Brock on Tuesday, July 03, 2012 at 3:48 PM

So Phil,

The article about the bartender mentions the owner of the bar as Philip Scotti. Is that your alias? Are you really a tavern magnate in New York?

...OR, as is more likely the case, were you simply searching your name on Google and came across the article?

Phil on Tuesday, July 03, 2012 at 4:32 PM

douglas on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 8:39 AM

no legal issues whatsoever, the finale, for the most part, went off without a hitch. i think i had a hard on for the majority of that nine minutes. when i went to look in a mirror when we were done, i had shrapnel covering my entire head and face

i took a chunk of flaming shrapnel to the face

adrian on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 11:24 AM

were you burned?

Phil on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 11:27 AM

just hurts. It tagged me in the face and then landed on my shirt. it burned that a bit.

I think Theresa also got the fireworks recorded. I'll see about getting that up on youtube. In retrospect we should have gotten something with a tripod setup on Joe's roof.

Always next year....

joe on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 12:27 PM

Shrapnel from down the street, not us, right?

Phil on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 12:38 PM

i believe it was from us, just a rogue shell that didn't get enough lift I guess.

Neighbors were a menace. I don't think they were able to light anything without it going off straight at people.

Phil on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 12:41 PM

sportsguy33: 4th of July is like one super-slow home run trot around the bases as the English stare us down from the mound. Suck it England!

joe on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 3:11 PM

This place is dead.

joe on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 4:29 PM

So I cut the neighbor across the streets grass. Most of the firework remnants are now ground up pretty fine. Instead of coming home and saying what the fuck happened to my yard it will be who cut my grass.

Phil on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 4:30 PM

"the lawnmower bandit"

next step: tastefully mulch and plant flowers when they are gone again.

douglas on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 4:46 PM

after the horses were there yesterday you could've strategically placed fertilizer in her yard as well

douglas on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 4:48 PM

so i've gotten nothing but extreme compliments on the finale video from last night at work today. everyone seems to be legitimately impressed that i was not only not blowing smoke up their ass about our show, but that we more than covered their expectations

joe on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 4:51 PM

We raised the parade and firework bar. At some point we may need to relocate the fireworks.

Phil on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 4:56 PM

going to be tough to top this year in the current location without risk of serious injury or someone being arrested.

joe on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at 5:13 PM

Planning on doing some sprint tri's next year. I know I need a road bike, goggles and running shoes. What all do you recommend I need that is essential? Gear, clothes accessories etc...

i'm at work, i was hurting yesterday at work though, couldn't keep my eyes open in the afternoon

Wrecking Crew on Friday, July 06, 2012 at 11:49 AM

How many of you worked yesterday? Did the watermelon and cherries get polished off?

joe on Friday, July 06, 2012 at 11:49 AM

Cherries we did a number on. Watermelon never made it out of the fridge.

Brock on Friday, July 06, 2012 at 11:51 AM

Rookies.

I not only worked today and yesterday - I got up and drove to Nashville Thursday morning and I'm taking a standardized test today.

A special thank you to those who confused a laundry hamper and a garbage can. Yes the hamper was next to the fridge in the basement, that was my bad. I hope jello shot washes out. There were also a large number of bottle caps.

Brent on Friday, July 06, 2012 at 4:05 PM

Adrian, a few things that you shouldnt go cheap on: goggles, bike shorts. I know you said you are only doing tris but the chamois (padding) in tri shorts are minimal so you will need a good pair of bike shorts for your training. Dont buy anything like a gel seat or seat cushion. It takes awhile but eventually, your ass won't be sore anymore, no homo (i.e. from riding the bike, excluding all your other extracurricular activities of course). It's nice to have a cyclo computer to measure your speed and distance, nothing fancy, just something wireless that is around $30.

Also, if you are looking to get gear I would suggest buying most of it on
nashbar.com

If you need an entry level bike, I would buy it on
bikesdirect.com

For any equipment you need to buy locally, like shoes, Clarkesville Schwinn gives you the best deal. He moves on his price, the worst place you can buy anything is Bicycle Sport in St. Matthews, biggest ripoff in town. Any specific questions, just call me.

joe on Friday, July 06, 2012 at 4:09 PM

Thank you. I was just looking for a new pair of bike shoes.

Phil on Friday, July 06, 2012 at 5:13 PM

At least everyone had good enough taste to leave the Smirnoff ice alone

joe on Friday, July 06, 2012 at 9:38 PM

Who brought the Smirnoff Ice?

They should have to do the walk of shame by coming back over and taking that shit home.

Whenever you take a couple bottles of anything to a party, if it goes untouched that is a good sign to not show up with that shit again.

Two chemists walk into a bar.
The first one says, "I'll have some H2O."
The second says, "I'll have some water too. But why'd you order it like that? We aren't at work."
The first chemist excuses himself and weeps in the bathroom.
His assassination plot had failed.

About to see midnight show of Batman. I can't remember the last time I went to a midnight show, must've been college. Its not that I am highly anticipating the movie - its because we have a babysitter. Sign #45 that I'm old.

douglas on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 11:25 AM

good? bad? worth going to as soon as possible?

Brock on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 12:45 PM

Its good. I would definitely see it in theaters. I liked the 2nd movie better, but that was because Heath Ledger owned the Joker role and its tough to beat. I have to give credit though - Bane was a solid villain.

If last night was any indication - the 20 or so midnight or later shows at the nearest 3 theaters in town we sold out - this movie may break some records.

Sitting down on their living room couches Friday after running a few household errands, mothers across the nation told their children today to "buckle the fuck up" for the 2012 London Olympic Opening Ceremony, adding that the event was sure to be "one hell of a wild-ass ride."

"Hold on to your hats, motherfuckers, because you’re about to get knocked on your asses by some real goddamned pageantry," said local mother Sarah Foster, 46, telling her children Daniel, 8, and Cindy, 14, that the three-hour plus broadcast was going to feature "an ever-loving shitload of colorful choreography." "As soon as Greece gets out there and that Parade of Athletes gets going, shit’s gonna get buck wild, believe me."

"Hope you're ready, bitches," Foster added while folding laundry.
