Updates on the Way

Just because I'm on vaction, don't mean I'm out to lunch.  I've taken today and tomorrow off for vacation just so I can sleep in.  Yes, I'm that lazy.  Anyways, I've got some subtle updates I'll be throwing up here over the next 15 or so minutes, so if things are acting goofy don't get your panties in a wad.

Edit: It appears everything is working real respectable like.  It should be quite faster, especially if you are on a dial-up modem.

Ok, some of the changes:
* long urls shouldn't break the site. i'm just truncating what's displayed
* if you click on a link in the recent comments section, it'll take you to that comment
* i've cut 10k off the size of the frontpage. On a page like "Fill in the Blanks", I've cut off over 50k. That's like 75% smaller. Giddy up.

Brock on Monday, March 08, 2004 at 12:43 PM

Just a request: Can you put a link to the Yeti Sports in the Link Whore tab?

Any brainstorming for updates to the site??

Phil on Monday, March 08, 2004 at 12:46 PM

Actually, I might as well go the full nine and add a games section to the left there.

As for what else, I think I'll probably throw something together so you can search the posts and comments, along with a way you can see the last 10 or so posts by a user.

And finally, I need to get something under the WTF link.

Brock on Monday, March 08, 2004 at 12:49 PM

A polls section would be nice, but I think that was mentioned before.

Also... how about classic Natty Sci photos... I'm sure I've got about 10 million I can contribute... and most everyone has access to scanners now.

Joanna on Monday, March 08, 2004 at 12:51 PM

I've definietly got some quality pictures of everyone that I can contribute. Just think...New Years revisited

Phil on Monday, March 08, 2004 at 1:28 PM

I just want to test a longer url: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.ad...;submit=Get+Map

Jay on Monday, March 08, 2004 at 1:37 PM

Holy Crap! Every thing loads pretty friggin' fast, now.

kellie on Monday, March 08, 2004 at 4:25 PM

joanna,
working on getting a scrapbook together of pictures. can you get copies for me of the pics you have?

kellie on Monday, March 08, 2004 at 5:06 PM

BROCK, I'M A PHOTOGRAPHER ANYWAY GOING TO SCHOOL FOR THAT. I CAN TAKE MORE PICTURES IF YOU WANT ME TO. I PROMISE I WON'T USE THEM FOR BLACKMAIL. I'M NOT LIKE THAT. LOL

Brock on Monday, March 08, 2004 at 7:28 PM

Where are those centerfold layouts for Marcus Brody?

Phil on Monday, March 08, 2004 at 7:49 PM

Kellie, if you need a keyboard, I have one that has a working shift AND caps lock key.

Marc on Monday, March 08, 2004 at 10:21 PM

CAPS LOCK = BAD marc centerfold layouts = good. at least those pictures can be used to make Saddam talk

Joanna on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 at 5:54 AM

Thank you Marc....you made me laugh on a boring Tuesday morning.

Church on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 at 8:31 AM

In case anyone is interested, the Film Liberation Unit at U of L is going to show Bubbahotep with Bruce Campbell towards the end of the month.

kellie on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 at 10:06 AM

phil, don't need a new keyboard. sometimes i like typing in all caps or in all lower case. at least i don't make a lot of typo's. lol. =) anyway, i am looking for deals on the following programs if you know of any of them. they are the following: photoshop 7.0, freehand 8, flash, and dreamweaver. use these down at school but would be nice to have these at home. since you're the comupter person, figured you might know at least a little about these. when are you and mindy coming back up for o'charleys? anyway, talk to you guys later.

Phil on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 at 10:10 AM

go to the school bookstore. you should be able to get all those programs with your educational discount.

kellie on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 at 10:18 AM

ok, thanks. hopefully they will have all of them at a somewhat decent price that i can afford. anyone mind if i bring the camera this weekend? like i told joanna i am trying to get scrapbook together. just pic's for me and all of us, no one else. promise. =)

Phil on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 at 10:29 AM

honestly, i wouldn't get your hopes up for people getting excited about posing for pictures or any of that crap.

Marc on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 at 10:57 AM

cameras are evil. they help remind me how unattractive i am, which is redundant cause the mirror and every girl i've ever known has already done that.

Krazybitch on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 at 12:46 PM

what tha fuck, we still in high school? shit, enough with the pictures already

kellie on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 at 1:55 PM

well, those girls don't know what they are missing and they can go to hell for all i care. =)

kellie on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 at 1:55 PM

who the hell is crazy bitch besides me? lol

Phil on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 at 2:13 PM

Got me

kellie on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 at 2:19 PM

phil, found a website on redbull contest. you probably already know about it. but thought you guys would find it interesting. i just typed in redbull contest and it took me to the site and even saw some gallery pictures on there. didn't know they made art out of it...

adrian on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 5:45 AM

Reducing his charges to 180,000 counts of vehicular man slaughter? That is funny

Church on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 6:51 AM

Adrian(bitch) on the same site there is a cool picture of Dick Cheyney clotheslining someone

adrian on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 7:06 AM

DWEEB!

Church on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 7:18 AM

Yes, that was what was determined

Phil on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 8:25 AM

I think I'm going to set something up across the top of the page for the next couple of weeks dedicated to sports with the NCAAs coming and the such. I'll throw some info up there about how to join the natty sci tournament challenge and have a place to talk some shit.

adrian on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 8:31 AM

good job PhilCO.

Phil on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 8:33 AM

this will of course only take me 15 or 20 minutes to do, because I'm not running some ghetto ass programming language like PHP.

Brock on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 8:56 AM

The Sports stuff is a brilliant idea! Jay and Marc... shut your pie-holes!! If I hear any more bitching about sports, we will go ahead and chuck the glass jars with your balls in 'em into the river, where Burket lives.

adrian on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 9:08 AM

No Comment Phil...

Church on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 9:23 AM

This is outstanding
http://www.courier-journal.com/cjsp...d0310-5986.html

Phil on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 9:26 AM

anything written by pat forde is to never be considered "outstanding." it did make me laugh though:

Finney on Charlotte: "I hope that pipsqueak Lutz enjoys his co-championship. He sat Demon Brown and Curtis Withers for a game each after they were arrested — Brown for waving a gun and threatening women, Withers for driving under the influence. We'll beat 'em even with the gun waver and the drunk driver in the lineup"

Church on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 9:30 AM

Yeah, I just forgot Forde wrote it. The Southern Miss coach item was interesting, but the Finney comment could just as well apply to UC. A yahoo writer, I forget who, is claiming that UC will be the first C-USA team out of the NCAA tourney due to their subpar guards

adrian on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 9:42 AM

Phil, what model was that abit motherboard you told me to buy?

Phil on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 10:08 AM

Don't actually remember recommending one, but Marc and I both have the IC7-MAX3 and it's been a solid little board. We both have P4 2.4c processors that overclocked pretty easily to 3ghz+ (I know mine is running at 3.2GHz without a hickup). Just get some good memory that can do 500MHz and you shouuld be good to go.

Also, I'd recommend a couple of seagate SATA harddrives and put them in RAID 0 instead of one big harddrive. Very quick.

Yes, I'm a nerd.

Brock on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 10:39 AM

I think Huggin's head will explode before he quits coaching... but I'll admit, I wanted to boot his ass out after some of those sloppy February games. Screw the SEC and ACC... the C-USA tourney is going to be nuts!!! Too bad someone screwed up the seeds and has UofL playing UC and Memphis, all before the final... that was an obvious screw-job.

But I better get back to preparing for IUS, I have to live up to Church's predictions and run the A-10 tournament. I have high hopes to clinch a 9 seed off the automatic bid.

Church on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 10:43 AM

Brock you have to win the A-10 tourney and then win the play in game against the winner of Walden school versus Andrew Hardin to qualify for your #16 seed

Phil on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 10:53 AM

Brock, did you see the article in the courier about Huggins? He's pretty pissed off about how the seeding went and even said "Don't you have to wonder if they're trying to take care of the people that are staying in the league?"

http://www.courierjournal.com/cjspo...a0310-8378.html

adrian on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 11:29 AM

It doesn't matter what seed Cincy gets because they always choke in the Tourney. They will win one game, then their asses will be sent back to the hotel packing for OHIO!

Phil on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 12:53 PM

Ok, I hacked out a solution real quick to get this up and running. I've also changed the way posts are linked together, so if you've bookmarked anything besides the main page, I broke that. The plus side is that Google will do a better job querying the system (if you are curious, Google sees id as a session id, and ignores it. so the moral of the story is, never use id in the querystring).

Marc on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 2:24 PM

Phil, check your work email. you'll be amused. it involves ralph macchio's whereabouts.

Brock on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 2:27 PM

Church - If I play the winner of the play-in game between Walden and Andrew, then I would be a #1 seed in the tourney? If I were playing in the play-in game, then I would be a 16 seed... now you are just trying to confuse me as much as the C-USA tie-breaker system....

Speaking of which... what the hell was that? That tie-breaker system is so screwed up, not even Jay with his huge brain could figure it out. Its so laced with legal jargon and aramaic that Church couldn't decifer it.

Adrian - I'm glad you passed your geography quiz in Ms. Baldwin's 2nd grade class, and YES, Cincinnati is in Ohio! Good for you! Never speak of UC again... UK fans can't comment until they grow balls and schedule UC.

adrian on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 4:04 PM

Well if UK did schedule Cincy, that would just lower our strength of schedule and I prefer UK to play higher quality teams then those pussy as Mofo's from Cinc-i-fucking-ati.

Jay on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 2:36 AM

So I was f***in' this b**** right, and she was all like "Shoot it all over me," and I was like "Ooh yeah baby, you like that, don't ya" and she was all like "Yeah, you're my daddy" and then I woke up with spooge in my hand. Hopefully that will disturb some people.

kellie on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 7:20 AM

wtf? =) anyway, phil have a stupid suggestion. what do you think about putting smily faces on here instead of having to use lol all the time and stuff like that. just a suggestion. know you probably won't like it, but just an idea. anyway, talk to you guys later.

Joanna on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 8:12 AM

Not a fan of the smiley faces, sorry Kellie. But then again, I am not the administrator of this site. HAPPY B-DAY MINDY!!!

Bambi on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 9:14 AM

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brock on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 10:04 AM

I was first disturbed by Jay's dream, then miffed at Kellie bringing up AOL stuff, but it all makes sense.....

MINDY's BIRTHDAY

I expect Phil to erect some form of shine, and then proceed to pour gallons of alcohol into his girlfriend to celebrate.

Oh, yea....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

P.S. Are we supposed to know everyone's birthdays? I only remember Marc's

Joanna on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 10:43 AM

I have birthdays in my calendar at work, so that's how I remember. I don't remember when Marc's is, but I know its early summer becuase my friend Suzanne came out with us and Marc kept trying to tell us he's really gay, I mean straight.

Brock on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 10:55 AM

Marc's B-day should probably be an official Natty Sci holiday...
that was also the day Burket was called a tight-ass
Bambi was called something else...
I kicked that garbage can's ass.... with my vomit!

I'm sure other historical events occured then too, but I can't remember.

Phil on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 10:57 AM

I drank a half pitcher of beer I found on a table that day.

Joanna on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 1:19 PM

Do we really want to remember that? There are many memories where Natty Sci was in rare form. How 'bout the night in Lex when Chris puked all over your shoes, Brock? Mmmmm, Fazolis and Jim Beam. That is one of the nastiest things to smell coming back up.

Marc on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 1:43 PM

my birthdays have been pretty memorable in the last few years. not all me, either. by any means.

Behold, wierd stuff I saw at work today and yesterday: the whereabouts of Ralph Macchio and what happens when Thailand gets the crazy idea of raising a Tiger, a pig, and a dog together. I smell sitcom.

Throughout the years man has had to try to find
answers to those big questions: What is the meaning of
life? Why am I here? and the always popular Where
the hell is Ralph Macchio? A segment a produced a
work today finally gave me the long-awaited answer
I've been waiting for, and in fact a sit-down
interview with the Karate Kid himself Ralph Macchio
AKA Daniel Laruso. If only they could have had Billy
Zabka there too. (Johnny the blonde bad boy from the
movie)

Wrecking Crew on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 1:55 PM

Marc, you don't even want to start comparing weird things you see at work. I can probably top about any story with shit I see on a daily basis. And yes, you can even take "shit" literally some days.

Church on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 2:00 PM

Shit hmm, Burket you on psych rotation?

Brock on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 2:33 PM

Joanna, did Chris puke on my shoes on Marc's b-day? It was a memorable event, but not enshrined on the holiest of Natty Sci holidays.

Marc, your job must rule!

Is everyone else itching with excitement that the second most treasured Natty Sci holiday, St. Patty's Day, is just around the corner?? I expect to consume liters of green beer that day! The best thing about St. Patty's is that when its on a weekday, you get to celebrate it twice, including the weekend following!

Joanna on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 2:50 PM

No Brock, this incident was in Lexington. He crawled out of my car and into the neighbor's yard and puked everywhere. Ugh. I still shudder at the smell.

kellie on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 3:36 PM

just suggesting the smileys because s/o doesn't like lol. =) happy birthday mindy! saw two pigs get in a wreck today. i think it's funny anyway. anyway, see you guys tomorrow night. be safe of all those pigs out there. just kidding. =)

Phil on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 3:58 PM

lol and smiley faces fall under the same category of the bastardization of the english language that has been brought about by IM.

I really don't care either way. I just don't want people posting a bunch of smileys, but on the other hand it could provide some fun.

mowgli on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 4:42 PM

HAPPIE BURTHDAE MINDY!!!

...LOL!!!

Mindy on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 5:26 PM

Aww..Shank-SHu! I have had a very Happy birthday!

I hope you are all rested up for tomorrow night's Birthday Extravaganza-a la Bardstown Road-
Since Tomorrow is Lynnie's Birthday as well.

Bambi on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 6:11 PM

No fighting and especially, no herpie squirting whores!!! Oh and Rachael, we must stay on our feet this time, mmmkk!!1

Bigworm on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 6:26 PM

Lynnie, got a date with bourbon do ya tomorrow, Happy early b-day big guy and i am sure I will see you tomorrow.

Kellie, the smiley faces are the worst idea I have ever heard of (with the exception of a "Jump to Conclusions Mat", Chris wanting to jump in the river, and Lynnie wanting to sober up by jumping into a brick wall).

Oh yeah baby! St. Patty's day is around the corner which is the 2nd best holiday (Loses to 4th of July weekend because firecrackers does make boozing it up better).

Happy birthday Mindy.

*Rachel* on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 8:44 PM

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINDY!!!! WE WILL DRINK WAY MORE TOMORROW NIGHT! Bambi I agree we have to stay standing somehow...Can't wait till the festivities start...oooohhhh ahhhh..

420? you a midnight toker? now you're gonna get tons of spam since you're email is posted hahaha......i mean awwwww hahaha

Marc on Friday, March 12, 2004 at 10:25 AM

another wierd thing i saw at work today. not what bizarre stuff Burkett sees mind you. but amusing and awkward nonetheless.

What the daily life of a legal aide must be like, show up to court, help your lawyer with proving their case while bringing in the bed a murder was committed on, getting tied to it by all four posts and then getting straddled by your lady lawyer to show how the murder was committed, while infront of a whole coutroom of people. that's what you'll see here.
http://tinyurl.com/2ox6z

remember, when getting strattled in court by a woman....think baseball baseball baseball.

kellie on Friday, March 12, 2004 at 12:00 PM
