Things Are Gonna Change - I Can Feel It

By popular demand, a new post.  Word to your mother.

Anyways, work has been kind enough to hook me up with an account.  Nothing really should change, but I will have 4GB of storage space.  Hosting movies and the such won't be an option, because bandwidth is still at a premium, but I can store a lot more crap on here.

If you are curious about where this stuff is hosted, take a look at a Xodiax's facility information.  In summary:

  • On two power grids (including one redudant power grid, so it's really on three seperate power grids).  Plus a  750 kW Kohler diesel generator.  Oh, and the Xodiax data center is located in a hospital zone, which means high priority from the electrical utility, fire and police
  • Reinforced concrete walls are 12-18 inch thick

So, theoretically, NattySci.com could withstand one hell of an attack from physical forces.  And Law & Order: Natty Sci (doink, doink) will take care of all the busters out there hatin' on the site.

I should mention that while this change happens weird things will happen. I'm still at the old host right now, and even once I get everything in place to make the movie, it will still be a couple of days before everyone sees the same version.

As for James's question about O'Shea's Trivia: Gone. They are doing poker night instead. Basically the same thing applies. You play poker to win bar money. I don't even think you have to pay to get involved. But instead of trivia, it's just poker. According to Joe, 30 people played last time.

Trivial pursuit: my gift to you. Along with the appliances. And the chairs

Acronym Bee: Considering that it was me with our sales guy, and a girl from Marketting, we held our own. We finished ahead of teams from Kindred, UPS and some company called SS. Beat by a team from Cisco and AT&T though. I choked on a couple that I should have known:
ATM (the switching stuff, jackass)
AT&T
PCI

If we could have gotten those, we would have been in the final round. But I did get some that few teams knew, which kinda surprised me. I knew PCL and PARC.

But there was one team that had this dude that just answered EVERYTHING. His teammates didn't even say a word. He'd just write the answer down. Our other team got stomped with a lot of main frame specific questions like DEC, RLL and other crap from 1970.

Next year, I'm gonna study during down time and me and the marketting guys are going to shock the world!

wow, this post and first comment make philco sound like a HUGE dork. So they're pretty accurate. But he drinks like a champ so it's all good.

Brock on Friday, October 29, 2004 at 2:18 PM

Kudos for the upgrade to NattySci.com. It should become one of the most protected and fail-safe websites on the net. Makes sense... Natty Sci will never die.

Natty Sci Cincy is busting loose on the UC Intramural world. We are 1-2 in Flag Football, mainly because we have Ohio U's former starting running back, and the Volleyball is 1-2, which is awesome considering half the team has never even touched a volleyball before. Since we play in the Coed leagues, we are quickly becoming the arch-nemesis to the Coed Fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. Reminds me of the old days getting into it with that poser frat ADG.

As for Jay, Happy Freedom from the Womb day. I'll be in Louisville around 7PM. Hope you've got the blood transfusion ready because by 11, you'll have more alcohol than blood running through those veins.

Dave on Friday, October 29, 2004 at 3:58 PM

Damn Brock, still 1-2 in flag football with a Ohio University running back. That's pretty scary! I waiting for the sad day in the life of Chris Redman, when he will accompany Jay to a game and play for the Sci. I don't ask for much, come on Jay, make it happen!

now, i'm generally not considered "hip" and "in the know," but has anyone seen Eminem's "Mosh" video? It's just about the most badass thing I've ever seen in a music video.

For the staunch supporters of Bush, I'd recommend just avoiding this one: http://www.gnn.tv/content/eminem_mosh.html

hoban on Monday, November 01, 2004 at 7:53 AM

Interesting video Phil, more interesting that they have played other controversial videos by Em but not this one on MTV...

adrian on Monday, November 01, 2004 at 8:57 AM

That video is pretty wicked.

-- Vote Northup -- just kidding. That bitch gets on my nerves!

Green Baron on Monday, November 01, 2004 at 10:26 AM

Why is interesting that MTV fails to play Eminem's video disrespecting Bush and corporate-run democracy?

http://www.cjr.org/tools/owners/viacom.asp

This shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone.
Nor to last night, all major networks (antenna that is, I'm a poor bastard) aside from Fox (shocking, I know) decided to air Bush's campaign speech at the Great American Ballpark. Pure Republican propaganda....two days before an election....for free.
There I was, watching my 60 minutes, when boom, Arnold is cut off mid-sentence to take me live to GAB to hear ass-clown. They said temporarily, but no, we stayed for the whole speech. ALL NETWORKS.
So instead I get to watch these morons clap to Bush telling them that he cares nothing about what they think. Like when he said, "A politician should not do what the majority wants, he should lead with conviction and logic". What? A majoral elected politician shouldn't care what the people want? And all these idiots are clapping to him, saying, "Thank you for telling us our opinion means nothing to you, you will be sure to get our vote in two days."
Please, if I hear one more asshole tell me media is liberal, I'm gonna kick some serious ass. Whether Bush or Kerry, airing free campaign rhetoric for 45 minutes is not what the media should be doing. The fact that they let the Bush campaign in is horseshit, it was a free occasion, and it didn't sell out. Therefore, it shouldn't be on TV.

Green Baron on Monday, November 01, 2004 at 10:33 AM

Sorry, I'm still bitter about half my fantasy-football team being a bunch of pussies and sitting the bench instead of being men doing what they're paid to do. You only play 16 games you fucking girly-men, throw the pads on and take what's comin' to you.

From what I can gather they were moving it to improve traffic flow, and allow for future growth (off ramp or expanded lanes)

hey phil good article on kevin millar. it is bullshit what they do to those players. they can't even get on the video games. I could have sworn that damian miller the catcher for the diamondbacks when they won the world series was also a replacement player.

Phil on Tuesday, November 02, 2004 at 9:46 AM

Bear with me here. I've moved the backend database over to the new host. But the website itself is still with the old people. So some things could very well be running a lot slower than in the past due to having to go back and forth across the country on these queries.

I'll be moving the website itself in a bit, but it generally takes about 2 to 3 days for everyone to get the changes to their ISP.

Giddy up.

Phil on Tuesday, November 02, 2004 at 9:48 AM

what was that? could it be? Yes, a post time in the eastern time zone!

Phil on Tuesday, November 02, 2004 at 10:01 AM

alright, the wheels of change are in motion. if you really want to be hip and cool, you can access the "new website" at http://v033u39lvs.maximumasp.com/default.aspx

It's the same as the other one, just sitting someplace else. I'll start moving NattySci.com to point towards the new address in a second here...

Phil on Tuesday, November 02, 2004 at 10:38 AM

ok, things are in place for the move to happen. If you see a yellow message at the tiowhen going to http://www.nattysci.com, then your ISP has updated it's name server to reflect the new name. This generally takes 2 days for everyone.

Btw, is anyone using the nattysci.com e-mail address? If so, let me know so I can set you up a new one at the new host. If you just want a new e-mail address, I still have plenty of gmail invites...

Phil on Tuesday, November 02, 2004 at 10:50 AM

hooray, i can already see the changes. what a surprise...

Marc on Tuesday, November 02, 2004 at 11:09 AM

Phil on Tuesday, November 02, 2004 at 1:43 PM

MTV originally was not going to air it. But a couple political websites (dailykos and GNN I believed) pushed on the TRL submit page until they were forced to air it.

But it is in fact on MTV, and is the #1 video right now. I personally believe that MTV airs only real world vs road rules reruns along with pimp my ride.

Brock on Tuesday, November 02, 2004 at 1:51 PM

I can see the addendum to the post from UC's network.

Phil on Tuesday, November 02, 2004 at 3:20 PM

it, uh, appears that for some reason http://www.allianceofprofessionals.com/ also points towards this site. My only guess is that the site USED to be at this IP address, and they never updated the DNS records.

The new host also has a nicer stats page, but unfortunately it's password protected...

Green Baron on Tuesday, November 02, 2004 at 3:37 PM

How was I supposed to know it was on MTV? I don't get cable.
My post was simply demonstrating the reason it wouldn't be on there, if it wasn't.
That reason being that 5 corporations own the majority of all cable networks, and all news networks.
The sad part is that even NPR's biggest contributors are corporations.
I would check my facts....but I'm being blinded from the truth :-)
So I choose to keep looking in my ass.

so i just took a look at the stats for the old webserver. only one person has accessed the old page in the past day, so I'd say it's safe to say that the migration is complete.

but what's kinda odd is that the ip address is 202.108.1.11, which is resolving to some machine in china.

so green baron, are you still pretending you are from china, or are those commies monitoring this site by ip address ?

Green Baron on Wednesday, November 03, 2004 at 1:50 PM

wasn't me....honestly.....
The only reason I did it the first time was to see if I could go undetected. I was banned from Nationstates after telling a Moderator to go fuck herself.
I guess she didn't like it.
So I got banned 11 times, and IP banned. Luckily we have a rotating IP system here at UC, so IP bans don't work for long. But I was getting tired of being banned. So I tried to go incognito.

Not that it matters because it's all over anyway. Dubya is President for four more years. But one reporter still thinks Kerry won. Read his reasons why. Not that it matters now.
http://www.commondreams.org/views04/1104-36.htm

(Don't attack me for this post, just found it interesting)

Brock on Friday, November 05, 2004 at 4:51 PM

Preface: Not an attack on Marc

Now I understand the slanted views of many. That article might as well be in the enquirer or the Globe. Now, I didn't want to talk about this anymore, but reading articles like that is like listening to Limbaugh and believing he's not partisan.

Of course there were 1-3% votes thrown out. This "hanging chad" argument probably makes up about 1-5% of the original 1%. The other 99% of the votes that are thrown out are because someone voted for Kerry and Nader, or Kerry and Cobb, hell even Bush and Kerry. They punched the card more than once, and not just when they meant to vote for Kerry.

"Expert statisticians investigating spoilage for the government calculated that 54 percent of the ballots thrown in the dumpster were cast by black folks."

1- The margin of error in that calculation is high, because how do you know who cast those votes... you guess based on demographics of the precinct, and thats just odds.
2- The ballot setup is pretty intense for anyone, and low-income individuals tend to get confused (I couldn't figure out how to do a write-in at first), but won't ask for help or don't even realized they messed up.
3- As a voter in a black majority precinct, the reason why African-american votes are thrown out is because they make mistakes like everyone else. The difference is, if I made a mistake on my card, I would approach the poll officials and ask for a new ballot. Listening to people standing in line at the polls, I guarantee the majority of black voters wouldn't let "those white officials get within 10 feet of my ballot." Simply, they won't approach officials for a new ballot, or admit they made a mistake.

It comes down to this... its not some Republican conspiracy that votes are thrown out, its just mistakes on the side of voters. And any argument for these voter mistakes swinging the election is just grasping for fairy tales.

Since I broke my rule, TAKE DOWN YOUR DAMN KERRY/EDWARDS SIGNS! I don't still see any BOB DOLE signs in the yard, or even YES ON 3 signs, put your damn fridge or couch back out on the lawn.

Green Baron on Friday, November 05, 2004 at 5:17 PM

It's real simple why this country is going downhill....
Women's suffrage....
Yah, I said it.
After women won the right to vote, we elected such great presidents as:
Woodrow Wilson (dork)
Calvin Coolidge (fag)
Warren G. Harding (retarded)
Herbert Hoover (sucked like a sweeper, in fact, they named one after him because he sucked so good...or bad)

just before the whole economy collapsed and two world wars occurred.

White men who own land should be the only people to vote
(Please catch the sarcasm this time folks)

First of all, the greatest defensive showing of natty sci history. we pitched a shut out in the first half, featuring lynnie picking off a pass towards the end of the half right as they were building momentum down the field. offensive highlight would be joe taking a quarterback draw up the middle the length of the field for the score.

natty sci 12, other team 0.

second half we got away from our game plan and suffered a complete collapse. one fade pass that involved the ball going end over end into the other teams hand led to a score that put us up by only six. we counter with a score of our own, giving us a 12 point lead with 2 minutes to go. The score featured a play where burket levels some guy in the back field while blocking, gets a dump off pass, and then levels someone else on the way to end zone.

the other team proceeds to launch some ghetto ass throw 30 yards down the field, and scored shortly after that. they add a single point conversion to bring them within 5.

so it's natty sci ball with 1:15 to play. time to run out the clock. a quick pass takes all of 6 seconds off the clock as we run out of bounds accidentally. a quick run adds a few more yards, but it's quickly becoming apparent that we need a first down to be able to take all the time off the clock.

and then, the play of the century. Douglas throws a quick hit to burket, and he's moving down the field trying to pick up first down yardage. AND HE GETS STIPPED OF THE BALL, Kerry Rhodes style. The other team takes the fumble back for a score, putting them up be 1. Conversion ensues. Now, the other team should have just taken a knee because a busted play returned for a touchdown would be unlikely, but we could have tied it if we pulled it off. But their QB is rolling out right into Douglas. He does some retarded pump fake and lower his shoulder. Douglas wraps him up and "tackles him."

Which provokes the "THAT WASN'T NESCASARY!" yell and the QB throws the ball at Douglas' back. Douglas at this point turns around to face QB guy who puts up his dukes, and takes like four steps back. Flags go flying and the refs start yelling at the other team to stop being bitches.

Anyways, off setting penalties - natty sci ball with 1:15 to go. We bring out the big guns - B-mac (how the fuck would you spell that) steps into QB to lead our drive down the field. A quick hit and we move 15 yards. A few busted ass plays move the ball a few yards, but take too much time off the clock. B-mac scrambles out and out runs a dude to the sideline to stop the clock, putting us in position to attempt the hail mary. Douglas and myself inexplicably get behind their defense and b-mac heaves the ball down field - right to Douglas. But the ball is slightly tipped and falls inches from his hands.

Game over.

So, for the record:
Natty Sci shutout a non-girl team for a half
Lynnie had a clutch interception
Burket (BURKET!) fumbled the ball with time running out
Got in a fight, refs took ourside again
Almost pulled off the hail mary comeback to their comeback

The only thing that was missing was the big jay touchdown and then the ensuing big jay touchdown dance.

I'm sure I got plenty of facts wrong, so feel free to add your own highlights.

Joanna on Monday, November 08, 2004 at 12:32 PM

I've created the Nattipedia: Just click the WTF link on the sidebar at the top.

It's a wiki, which is basically something anyone can edit or create new topics. I assume everyone hasn't worked with a wiki before, so you might want to start here: http://www.flexwiki.com/default.aspx/OneMinuteWiki

Basically, just click edit (or double click) to edit a page. New topics are easily created by just editing a page that you want to point to your new topic to include text in pascal casing (everything looks like HeresMyNewTopic). The other formatting rules can be found here: http://www.flexwiki.com/default.asp...FormattingRules

Bigworm on Monday, November 08, 2004 at 3:27 PM

Phil - (As gay as this sounds I assure everyone I am not gay) bring that Pampered Chef stuff with you so I can also get that from you.

Also going out looking at televisions this weekend, so the day draws nearer when I will have a big screen tv.

Wrecking Crew on Monday, November 08, 2004 at 3:48 PM

I'm not making excuses because I know I sucked ass, but my fumble was not the only thing that cost us the game. First of all, refs should have to call stripping tackling too. It's the same principle. You should have to go for the flags or nothing else. I suck and shopuld have held on to the ball or just ran the fucker over. Secondly, there was the interrception that was ran back for a TD. Adding to the sting of a one point loss is the fact that we converted ZERO extra points. Finally, up by two TDs with less than a quarter of the game left, we should have just kept running the ball and following our blockers instead of trying to force passes.

To sum it up, I can't hold on to a football and should never touch the ball again unless I'm playing defense, and Natty Sci sucks no matter who we try to bring in to help us win.

So who's up for taking the forfeit next week and playing tackle?

Phil on Monday, November 08, 2004 at 4:20 PM

I think no matter who had the ball they were going to strip it. In retrospect, we probably should have been running with the ball like a FB after they started yelling strip the ball from the sideline. But I don't think ANYONE in the history of flag football has had the ball legally stripped. Then again, not many people have had their ass ran over in flag football, so filing that formal complaint might not be in our best interest.

Brock on Monday, November 08, 2004 at 4:49 PM

Ok, so I have started playing around with the Nattipedia. Give it a look. You knew I couldn't resist.
http://www.nattysci.com/wiki/

Phil on Monday, November 08, 2004 at 5:07 PM

Brock, you should try to create the Nicknames on it's own page.

Just write something like something like NattySciNicknames on the main page and save it, and then it'll have a link to create a new topic called NattySciNicknames. And then you can move what you've typed up so far into the new topic via cut and paste.

Or something like that.

Great line from TMQ (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/7871001):
Television ads for Burger King's Chickenfight chicken sandwich promotion show guys in chicken suits being bashed and smashed, but reassure in a disclaimer, "No real chickens were harmed." Wait a moment, the whole point of this promotion is to get customers to eat more chicken sandwiches -- that is, to increase harm to real chickens

they go through the wedding announcements in the new york times and picks them apart. bear in mind the wedding announcements in the times aren't like the ones in the courier journal. the Times is pretty strict: "Your request must be typewritten and include the full names of the couple, the date of their event and the approximate time of day. We need their addresses, schooling and occupations. Also mention any noteworthy awards that the couple may have received, as well as charitable activities and/or special achievements. We also ask that you tell us how the couple met."

Phil on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at 5:42 PM

from the memphis paper (I'd post a link, but they require registration. so fuck them):

While the University of Memphis basketball team was winning its first exhibition Saturday night, a campus apartment that houses players was burglarized.

The victims were Clyde Wade, Arthur Barclay, Rodney Carney and Joey Dorsey. According to a report filed with the Memphis Police Department at 11:04 p.m. Saturday, the four players were robbed of approximately $66,720 worth of possessions, including eight mink coats valued at $40,000.

However, by Monday afternoon, the report was amended and minks removed.

Curt Guenther, director of communications services at the UofM, said late Monday that the report instead now stated that nine fur coats "of some description" and two fur purses were taken. All together, those items were valued at $3,600, and, according to Guenther, did not belong to the players, but rather a friend.

Memphis coach John Calipari declined comment after the Tigers' 110-46 victory over LeMoyne-Owen on Monday, citing a lack of knowledge about the situation. He added that he planned to meet with Wade, Barclay, Carney and Dorsey after his postgame press conference.

The original police report listed descriptions of 20 types of items that were taken. Among them were $2,500 in diamond earrings, $4,000 in custom-made shirts and $6,000 worth of shoes.

No arrests have been made. Campus police said Monday that the investigation is ongoing.

Ok Mel, I see you're point and you are one of my favorite actors, but by that logic then I should not have to fund the Iraq War which many people think is unethical. I thought the onion only made false satirical articles.....

http://www.theonion.com/news/index....n=0&ref=myy

Phil on Friday, November 12, 2004 at 1:44 PM

satire is never false. if there wasn't anything true about an article it wouldn't be called satire, it would be "just making shit up and trying to be funny."

Green Baron on Friday, November 12, 2004 at 1:55 PM

Yes,
But the fact that the article is true makes it not very funny.
I don't find the article funny at all, therefore I don't find it to be satire.

Phil on Friday, November 12, 2004 at 2:23 PM

err, being funny probably shouldn't been used.
let's go to google: satire a work of art, literature or music that mocks or ridicules a popular idea or public figure by reduction to absurdity.

Marc on Friday, November 12, 2004 at 2:33 PM

i agree pil, but it skates the line of satire. because it does base the story off the truth and does try to do it in a funny way. Baron doesn't think it is funny because of the actual truth of it though. and I can understand that. I often laugh at this President and administration as their absurdities, but when I truly think about it, it isn't funny in the fact that it is true. the absurdity in this "semi-satire" is in the truth, not an outside absurdity brought to the thurth to make it funny, like you'd see on the Daily Show on SNL Weekend Update.

Did you guys actually play tackle and did Big Jay drop a heisman pose on the opposition?

Phil on Monday, November 15, 2004 at 1:17 PM

we were wearing flags, but some people did end up getting dropped. we may have set a record for most points given up in a 2 minute period (35), and most violent incidents.

let's see here. we had burket running over some guy who didn't get up fast enough, causing the guy to scream "COCKSUCKER" and walk off the field mid play. To which burket responded "GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS BEFORE IT GETS SNAPPED!"

We had the football thrown at B-Mac incident after b-mac elbowed the guy in the chest. I'm not sure if B-Mac hessitated on the retalitory throw, but he was at least 15 feet off and flew like a duck. Ball did almost go into the street.

We had the jackass running around after the interception where I tried to slam the ball out of his hands, and he got slammed down by Mark.

Any other incidents? Luckily the comedy stylings of phil running the option prevented any post game meelee.

Since she seems a little playful, I don't know if it was merely a burn for fun or a burn for spite. Either way this weekend I'm gonna earn back some manhood or die trying if she's there. 151 shots for this guy.

And for the record, I believe it was a burn for fun. She's probably heard about me being the authoritative voice on the "favorite girls from o'shea's" and is trying to move up the list by following the time-honored Natty Sci tradition - calling people pussies.

But anyways, TELL HER ABOUT THE WEBSITE cause she's half-way to bekah.

Jay on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 1:45 PM

Actually, Phil, if he had slammed it back, it would have been like saying "I ain't no bitch!" Like the time we ordered petey a smirnov ice, and he refused to drink, he looked like a bitch, whereas if he would have slammed it back, we would look like chodes. Although your solution is cool too. And why did you spell becca with the jewish version?

Brock on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 1:58 PM

This whole discussion of "slamming back" Shirley Temples and Smirnoff Ices is dragging the testosterone level way down. Lets go hunting! ...for Manatees

Jay on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 3:39 PM

I posted some new lyrics. I also put the year I began working on the song (note: this is not always the same as the year I finished it, because I am still working on them. I also added a destination in the PlacesBurketPuked.

Phil on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 3:45 PM

well, I spelled it like that based on the fact that I'm pretty sure bekah is jewish or at least from jewish decent. oh, that and the fact that Bekah is what's on the receipt from flanagan's kinda clued me in...

Jay on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 4:05 PM

Hmmm...I'm retarded.

Phil on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 4:13 PM

I think the only possible way to recover from the smirnoff ice incident would be to have the drink sent to a girl "from you." and you'd be all like "hey, I bought you a drink, pretty lady" and she'd be all like "ooooh, thanks handsome man. you are not only thoughtful, but also a provider of alcohol. perhaps we can continue this conversation back at my swank apartment because I think you are awesome. "

yeah, bitches love romanticism like that.

Brock on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 4:32 PM

The Nattipedia is becoming larger by the second, mainly thanks to Jay and I not having any time. However, the http://www.nattysci.com/wiki/defaul...acesBurketPuked link is hilarious because I forgot about a lot of them, like on my shoes. Joanna is probably the expert on Burket's vomit spree, so "official" puke locations must meet her notarization.

Jay's list of music is turning into a Rolling Stones reunion tour, never ending, but worth the read.

If you are reading through the Nattipedia, make sure to click on anything that looks like a link, I've slipped in various sub-pages here and there like: http://www.nattysci.com/wiki/defaul...attySci.SillyHo

In that case it's fucking hilarious.

I even watched the Providence-Niagra pre-season NIT game last night where Niagra was up by 13 with 3 minutes to go and blew it faster than Burket after a bottle of Makers.

How are those Lions doing?

Church on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 3:44 PM

Lulling everyone into a false sense of security before the motown juggernaut begins its march to the Super Bowl. Honestly, they only beat teams they shouldn't beat and then lose to crap teams like the Redskins

Church on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 3:46 PM

UC will be tested early since they have athree game swing against Dayton, Purdue, and Vandy

Brock on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 4:20 PM

That analysis of the Lions sounds exactly like the Saints.

Technically its not that huge of a test, relatively speaking (with the exception of Purdue). However, since UC has had a long history of playing ultra-cupcake pre-conference schedule, this is an improvement. The fun should be late in the season when they play Wake and Xavier.

Louisville has got themselves a nice helping of the SEC this year, and I for one hope they sweep those 3 teams just for spite of how cocky the SEC claims to be every year, despite pretty poor post-season performance (statistically-speaking, if you put 8 teams in, you should do better). I don't vouch for C-USA, but all this "crap-conference" talk will soon end next year when the Big East bolsters itself and we watch the Big 10 and Big 12 drop to 2nd tier status.

In 2005, look for the Big East and ACC to dominate college basketball with the SEC and Pac10 battling it out for the scraps of the pathetic Big 10/12.

Brock on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 4:46 PM

Florida, UK, and Tennessee

Church on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at 7:35 AM

Brock you forgot to mention UC's visit to Illinois. Vandy is mercurial and could give UC a game. I am actually waiting for Memphis to either go on probation or collapse. The Tennessee game will be tough since it is always close. I still, and will never, buy the hype around Florida. They always make their run to the top of the national rankings and then choke. If they gave banners for choking in the NCAAs, Florida would need to expand their gym.

Church on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at 7:36 AM

After this year it will be a contest between the ACC and Big East, but the Big 10 has become inept. The only thing they can do is put Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Illinois in the tourney. There was a time when they put six in

Jay on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at 8:28 AM

the moral is, as usual, i rock

Phil on Sunday, November 21, 2004 at 7:19 PM

because I'm a hopeless optimist:

Right now, the projections for the BCS shows Louisville at 7th (www.geocities.com/rtell/)

1 Southern Cal 0.9799
2 Oklahoma 0.9632
3 Auburn 0.9356
4 Cal 0.8523
5 Texas 0.8285
6 Utah 0.8180
7 Louisville 0.6398
8 Georgia 0.6387
9 Boise St 0.6372
10 Miami FL 0.6277
11 Virginia Tech 0.5089
12 Michigan 0.4992

so let's break this down.

Orange Bowl (national championship): USC vs Okahoma
Rose Bowl: Michigan vs Cal
Fiesta: Utah vs Boston College
Sugar: Miami vs Auburn

So say Texas looses. We move into the top 6, right? Well, not so fast my friends. We will probably be passed by Miami and Georgia before the end of the year. Notice we are only .002 higher than the 9th place team. So we need a Miami loss to Virginia Tech AND a georgia loss to Georgia Tech, otherwise we stay at 7th place and without anyone to dance with. And if Virginia Tech beats Miami (which is good) AND Virginia, they'll probably leap us too. Not good times.

So ok, saying the football gods smile upon us and grant us:
1) A Texas A&M victory over Texas
2) A Miami loss to Virginia Tech
3) A Virginia Tech loss to Virginia
4) A Georgia Tech win over Georgia

we'd be safely into the top 6 and they must take us, right? Wrong. If the Pac-10 champion goes to the national championship game, the Rose Bowl doesn't have to follow the normal rules. They can take Cal even if we slide ahead of them. I'll repeat that because it warrants repeating: The Rose Bowl can ignore the "top 6 you are in at large clause." Crap.

So we need Cal to somehow lose to a Southern Miss team on the decline. BUT, a more likely situation would be a USC loss to either UCLA or Notre Dame. That would knock them out of the national championship, and giving the rose bowl the more traditional Pac-10 champ and not loosing a team to the national championship.

So, in my head the stars align like this:
1) A Texas A&M victory over Texas
2) A Miami loss to Virginia Tech
3) A Virginia Tech loss to Virginia
4) A Georgia Tech win over Georgia
5) Either a USC or Cal loss

That would put change things like so:
Orange Bowl (national championship): Oklahoma vs Auburn
Rose Bowl: Michigan vs USC
Fiesta: Utah vs Boston College
Sugar: Miami vs .... Louisville?

So, does this theory sound about right? I'm sure that the fiesta / sugar bowl matchups would be different. But I'm not too familiar with the selection process to figure out how things would line up.

Maybe he can sign with Death Row. Either way his career is over and every lawyer in Detroit is going to be filing lawsuits against him, in addition to the criminal charges. O'Neal and Jackson will be nailed as well. Also, there is the South Carolina-Clemson situation. A SI writer said both schools should turn down their bowl bids. They should because of the fight and because neither team deserves a bowl bid. A sad way for Holtz to go out

Two sisters made out with each other
Four drunk girls rolled around in broken glass
Some dude had a king mullet and screamed, a lot
Lynnie felt me up, and according to him, "It felt good when I was doing it."
Phil actually had a good time once he got past the, "I stand by my statement that Flannagans would be more fun" stage.
Two other ladies were hugging on each other for about a half hour at the end of the night- They were totally going to do it.
Some girls were having the same trouble rounding up their drunk friend, just like we were
It seems like I'm missing some things, Lynnie, Wes, Phil, and Marc, feel free to add.

funny post from the louisville message boards:

I was amazed at how well Cincy can "Logo Stomp". I definitely say they are one of the top 5 Logo Stomping teams in the nation. Their running backs were especially impressive. Did you see that move the starting Cincy running back put on our logo? He jumped up and then did a 180 degree spin, then he hopped on one leg and went 180 degrees the other way. It should make the ESPN top 10 highlights tonight.

Their Linebackers were also very fast when they ran up to the logo. And since our logo is a little larger than most, I thought Cincy's linebackers and backfield would have a hard time containing it. Boy was I wrong. They did a great job and basically just swarmed all around it, our logo had no chance.

All in all it was a very impressive performance by Cincy. The good news for us is this year Cincy loses 15 of their Logo Stomping starters. I'm so glad because I don't know if I could take another vicious beating like that.

Phil on Monday, November 29, 2004 at 3:52 PM

check out tonight's big fantasy matchup between Cobra Kai and the Green Barons:

I'm down by 9 points, but have Bulger and Faulk still to play. The Green Baron has Favre and Green playing.

I'm still routing for the Pack because my fantasy team is a bunch of bitches.

i'm a little peeved they left pope off the list of titles. still trying to stick it to the catholics after all these years?

Phil on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 9:02 AM

hey adrian, you know how you mentioned SCO got hacked? Word on the street is that it was running an older version of PHP, and people having found some exploits for it. Supposedly quite a few sites have been compromised recently, and PHP is being pointed to as a culprit.

You might want to ensure that your servers are running 4.3.9 or 5.0.2.

adrian on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 9:28 AM

We are upgraded. I wonder how long it took SCO to figure out they were hacked. I mean hell, the hack was an image change on their home page and it was up for a little bit.

Phil on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 10:22 AM

looks like good ol' Cobra Kai pulls the upset. Despite the 45-17 point loss, Bulger almost had as many points as Favre, and Faulk actually got enough carries to push me over the top. I should have gone with the laundry pooper Najeh Davenport. 178 yards and a touchdown. Had I known Mike Martz was going to try to loose the game, I probably would have sat Fault down. But a win is a win, although it's always sweeter when your star player quite possibly broke into a down and took a dump in a closet before the game. Anyways, final tally:

Cobra Kai 116.79
Green Barons 116.15

Suck my greatness and god bless the flawed fantasy football scoring system.

adrian on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 10:26 AM

I read on ESPN that the BCS committee is not ruling out a possible UTAH vs Auburn game. Most likely it won't happen but it is still possible. So that would be two BCS games that involoved undefeated teams playing each other. Now that would be wicked.

Marc on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 10:26 AM

Dave Matthews will be starring in a new Winn Dixie commercial. oh wait did I say commercial? I mean moooovie.
http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/b...useofwinndixie/

Bigworm on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 11:14 AM

I think I am the Cobra Kai is this correct? If so, what is my win-loss record? I haven't been on that damn site for so long. I think I still have KW2 still going.

Phil on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 11:15 AM

Because of Winn-Dixie is actually a pretty popular children book: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...nce&s=books

I refuse to see it because much like Friday Night Lights, the producers of the movies probably strip the book of the racism, the separation of the classes, and the economic strife that bring the story to life.

Phil on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 11:15 AM

i'm cobra kai. i have no idea who you are wes. I thought you were "the man, the legend," but it appears Joe has officially adopted that name.

Bigworm on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 12:44 PM

Hmmmm....this is interesting then.....can you give me a list of team names?

Brock on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 2:36 PM

Wes, you goof, you are the Mean Machine, and aren't doing to badly. I think you are better than Phil's team actually.

Phil on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 3:15 PM

i just looked it up. wes and I have the same record, but I've got more points.

head to head, wes has beaten me twice.

Bigworm on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 4:02 PM

The sad thing is I haven't looked up that shit in ages. I think I have been playing with Winslow Jr. for the entire year since he has been hurt.

Bigworm on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 4:53 PM

Apparently Ken Jennings has never scene Toy Story 2. He could have learned the secret to beating Zerg.

something about natalie portman naked: http://forums.fark.com/cgi/fark/com...?IDLink=1239504

what is truly funny, check out the third comment. that would in fact be Gordie aka Wesley Crusher aka Wil Wheaton suggesting that "I would like to know what else you're fine with your naked body doing. I would also like to offer help explore this fascinating topic."

Good times...good times.

Bigworm on Wednesday, December 01, 2004 at 2:50 PM

Jay are you sure he (Brock?) said "Here's five" or just "Five". I thought he said "Five".

Brock on Wednesday, December 01, 2004 at 3:48 PM

The funny thing is... I can't remember which it was either... but considering the condition I was in, its remarkable I remember anything.

VIDEOS OF THE DAY
http://tinyurl.com/6sc26

NOTE: If you want to share these videos with your close friends please feel free to do so. even download them to your computer if you wish. just please don't post to larger well-established sites that might cause too much traffic (ie: fark, ebaumsworld, milkandcookies) because I don't want to take the chance of anything bad happening. Also there can be possible copyright issues even though these are broadcasted free on the airwaves. thanks

(1) The Pacers Fight with the fans....with arrows to point out action

(2) To commemorate the assasination of JFK, you can play a game thats reinacts the scenario of his death....oh yeah you can pull the trigger too. That is some fucked up shit right there.

(3) Lady makes a grilled cheeses sandwich that she says features the likeness of the Virgin Mary. Like any "true believer", she puts it up for auction on eBay and makes $28,000. Praise Jesus.

(4) Also on eBay, get your NBA fight memorablia. At least two people say they have the infamous thrown cup. Or buy a cheaper item, like popcorn found on the ground near the fight. Happy Bidding.

(5) Man gets shocked by tazer gun as a demonstration. I didn't include the whole segment. but this guy's reaction really made me laugh.

(6) Dave Letterman is fascinated by the new Hardee's Monster burger and it's advertisements.

(7) Oddball: Lame robbery attempt, family sells family heirlum plate for $5 million, meatloaf fight gets the entire 8th grade suspended. etc.

(8) A guide of how to watch the football game without being distracted or annoyed.

(9) Oddball II: sky-diving Santa, Room done entirely of chocolate, nothing says Thanksgiving like a stabbing at the table, dog get stuck in turkey, etc.

(10) Updated: I know I've brought you this story before but I just can not get enough of there crazy-ass shenanigans. The two girls who get pulled over and cause a rukus while being sober just gets better and better. Forget the Scott Peterson trial, this is the trial I'm wanting to see everyday on the news.

Enjoy.

Ha ha ha! I think I'm going insane! Boredom sucks...anyone wanna go out tonight?? I know it's only wednesday, but i seem to recall last wednesday being really fun. I am definately not above going to O'Sheas to stalk waitresses...

stew on Wednesday, December 01, 2004 at 11:57 PM

Alright, it's time for a rant. I don't know if anyone else was shocked (or cares) about Jason White winning the Unitas golden arm award. Anyways, something is very wrong with that. I mean you have this fucker who somehow plays for the better part of 6 seasons and has only a hair over 7000 yards??! With Oklahoma's offense? WTF!!! This fucker already won a Heisman trophy that he didn't deserve. Larry Fitzgerald should have gotten that. I don't know whose balls he's sucking but I find this unbelievable. Shit, if you're going to go on sheer numbers, they could have at least given the golden arm to Timmy Chang; once again, LeFors gets screwed. I'd like to see Jason White, Brock Berlin or the fucker from Arizona State do what he did with a "mid-major" program! I'm so tired of people tossing Oklahoma's salad! Go Auburn!!! I hope Colorado destroys the sooners in the Big 12 championship, and fuck Bob Stoops, I don't want to hear any more bitching from that fag about how ESPN or anybody else favors the SEC and Auburn, because NOBODY gets more preferential treatment than his team and his players. So...go Tigers, go Cards and fuck Oklahoma!

Jay on Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 12:43 AM

You might be right, Wes. It can always be changed. Some of them aren't really quotes, more like paraphrasing.

Jay on Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 8:32 AM

Ummm...what just happened? Is Kellie okay?

Phil on Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 9:34 AM

i think kellie's internet just vomitted the comments or something.

Brock on Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 10:26 AM

I think the "WTF?" link should jump right to that post instead of the Nattipedia.

Brock on Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 11:00 AM

Ok, I went a little crazy with the quotes page, but I tried to title a lot of the quotes, but since I wasn't there for half of them, there's a bunch under the "I Don't Know" category. Probably should just be piled under Wicks, since everything said in the last 2 years was said there.

Jay on Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 11:23 AM

Okay, I fixed what you did Brock. And you're right, most of that stuff was said out on Baxter avenue. I also deleted "You're more than pretty" because that is technically a movie quote.

Bigworm on Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 11:27 AM

Signs this week is too damn weird
1. There is a school whose mascot is the fighting okra
2. Bellarmine's men's basketball team is #26 in the nation

Brock on Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 12:28 PM

Wasn't that team named the Fighting Okra before this week?

Church on Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 12:29 PM

Yup, I read about it this week though. There is also a team called the University of Alaska Southeast Humpback Whales
Check out this link http://www.smargon.net/nicknames/#A

Phil on Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 12:58 PM

here's an article on the fighting okra's: http://www.sptimes.com/2004/05/23/C...realm__Fi.shtml

Church on Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 1:41 PM

Now if only other schools had articles about the origins of their nicknames, such as the Washburn Ichabods. Bellarmine played the fighting Okra, I wish I would have gone

Phil on Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 3:54 PM

i'm trying to upgrade the nattipedia to a new version of the wiki software. so if it acts weird, give me a bit...

Phil on Thursday, December 02, 2004 at 4:09 PM

ok, changes have been made. you can now edit using Firefox. Good times. Good times.
